Hello Brian, and thank you for your interest in our products! The only difference besides the zoom is the Twin Camera function present only for the HC-V785 camcorder, which allows you to simultaneously record two images with the Main Camera, you can also record the Main Camera’s image as a separate scene, and the Wireless Twin Camera function, which when this unit and a smartphone are connected via Wi-Fi, you can display the image transmitted from the smartphone on this unit’s Sub Window and record it simultaneously with the Main Camera’s image. In the end, this would be a matter of personal preference, therefore we encourage you to choose the product that fits your requirements the best. -G

I've had minor issues with focus at long distances and wheel on the bottom corner is a little weird to get used to trying to focus in manual mode. Overall, I'm happy with it. Battery life is more than I expected and the quick start feature is nice. If the camera is on and you close the camera it will turn off completely; however, when you open it it comes on immediately and it's ready for recording with very minimal delay. Depending on how much video I obtain during the week I only need to charge it once or twice.
