I have the same problem and just found the answer; it was from a "Panasonic Help" video on the internet. IT IS NOT A PHONE COMPANY PROBLEM!
The fix: hold the # button until you hear a couple of beeps. Simple, but it works.

Try this procedure on your Panasonic phone. Go to Menu key (on top right side of phone). Push Menu key to go into menu options. Choose middle button that has CID marker and scroll through menu options. Find the :Settings" option and select it using the select key. Use middle CID button on phone to locate the "Voicemail" option. Click on the Select key (button). Find the "VM tone detect" option. Click on the Select key (button). The screen will show " VM detection" and shows On or Off. Click on "Off" and then click the right uppper key (button) for Save. Once you hear a Beeping sound go ahead and exit out of the Menu by clicking on the RED colored OFF button. If all works well then you should see the "Voicemail" message on the Display Screen on the phone disappear. I used this procedure on my Panasonic phone and it seemed to fix the problem.

After moving to a new phone number, this message began to show on my Panasonic phone system. This is a Panasonic problem, NOT a phone company problem. I have contacted my phone company, my voicemail messaging is turned off. I can temporarily delete the phone "voicemail message" message by pushing down the # key and holding it for a few seconds. HOWEVER, after any use of the phone the message returns. I have no external phone voicemail. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED BY PANASONIC. VERY FRUSTRATING.

SPAWAR's instructions are perfect! Solve the problem. Panasonic saying that the msg means you must contact your phone provider is very wrong, at least for anyone that does not subscribe to phone company voicemail. GOOD Spawar, BAD Panasonic!

I have the same problem. Tried the option to hold the # button down until it beeps. That clears it, but it comes back. Tried the menu #332 option and that comes back also.

I, too, have a Panasonic phone and have the same problem. I assumed it was my phone provider's problem but they have no clue. I tried SPAWAR's fix and like Patti in the Garden as soon as I used the phone the message came back. However, when I tried Sameproblem's fix it worked. 
- Choose menu
- Dial #332
- Choose VM Detection off
- Choose Save

It works!!!

I have exactly the same problem. It's a Panasonic software problem, nothing to do with the phone company. It came in from pre-recorded call saying that someone had made a new charge on my Visa--I don't have a Visa. Also, it came in on a spoofed local number but it left the display saying "voicemail msg. via phone co." The messages are all cleared and it still won't go away. Also, it has changed my dial tone. Very annoying. I don't want to have to take the battery out and wipe out all the other information stored on my phone. And, this call centre has been calling with their pre-recorded messages for a long time (every time I block them they use a new number) but this last time was the first that they left this sticky message notice. And, they will call again.

Holding the # key is the easiest solution for removing the message. However, this is only a temporary fix. The message will return. I have tried all of the suggestions (Menu, #332, etc), and nothing solves this. As indicated by others, this is a Panasonic problem and Panasonic needs to find a fix for this. I am getting this message several times a day and it is extremely annoying. Do not purchase Panasonic phones until they resolve it.

I cleared the message by dialing my telephone number and entering the carrier (Verizon) voicemail system.  You will be asked for a password and if you do not have same you can establish one.  Once established you can go to the mailbox and listen to the voicemail and delete same.  Once deleted the message "VOCIEMAIL MSG VIA PHONE CO" will be erased.

I thought that it was my Panasonic phone message machine but it was not. The machine was accurately showing "voicemail msg via phone co." Since I am AT&T subscriber I called UVerse Tech Support and they 'turned off my voice mail feature.' Everything working fine and my machine gets the messages. I am guessing AT&T did a software update and a bug reset all connections to default of 'voicemail on'

Tried for over a month to remove message no success, decided to do the smart thing contacted service provider, Frontier, explained problem and within 15 minutes it was fixed no more VOICEMAIL MSG VIA PHONE CO.

Don't waste your time trying all these methods.  Our carrier had to do 2 things to get rid of the message:
1.  Reset the phone modem, and...
2.  Turn off the carrier 's voicemail system.

These two things will force your voicemail to go to your base portable phone.  I have Panasonic phones.

I have same problem. AT&T took voice mail off my landline. I still have the voice message show 
up on my screen all thru the day. I can get if off the one time but it will show up again. I want it off permently. Does anyone know how
to do that? Panasonic says not a panasonic problem and I am still dealing with AT&T for about 2 weeks and not solved yet.. It is a laondline. Help!!!

After trying all the suggestions the voice Mail msg KEPT COMING BACK ON THE SCREEN!!!!  It would not stay off. I finally switched the phone cord into the other phone outlet on the modem and SO FAR it has stayed off.  Time will tell———

After trying everything listed here (and other sites) I finally found the answer!!!
I have never used the phone company voicemail feature, I have never set it up but lo and behold on checking it I found there WAS a voicemail message there. I deleted it and the problem has gone away. Now I need to find out why the phone company (Cox) will not let me turn off their voicemail so it does not happen again.

I finally did it!!  I have a Panasonic phone as many of you do. I simply had to redo my voicemail greeting…”Hi, you have reached….”
On my hand held phone I pressed *98, then it prompted me to redo my greeting.  Once that was done I heard my messages and the problem was solved!

I realized the problem when I called  my home phone and didn’t get my usual greeting at all.  I heard “ you have reached mailbox number…..”
Hope that helps.

I had that problem. We have digital voice via same connection as internet. VM would come on, and we don't have VM (called internet provider to turn VM off). Still had New VM message. Turns out that you also need to reboot your modem (in this case our ONT). Who would have thought that the ONT modem forever remembers you once had a VM ?

I called Verizon Customer Service, explained the situation, and the representative was most helpful. He helped me establish a 4-digit passcode for voicemails that for some reason are left on the Verizon account instead of my personal voicemail in my Panasonic phone system. Once you have that passcode, press Talk ... press *86 ... it will ask you to enter your 4-digit passcode. You will be prompted to listen, repeat, delete, etc any messages that were left. It seems that these voicemails are left or redirected on Verizon voicemail after a storm or lapse in service ... odd! But, that's the fix that really works. Do yourself a favor and write down the access number (*86) and your 4-digit passcode for safekeeping. I wrote it right on the Panasonic Operating Instructions Manual, and I'm glad I did! This happens maybe once a year, and never remember the procedure and codes! Hope this all helps!

The message is accurate. I do not have voicemail set up from xfinity. I found no answers online. If you are hearing the beeps, then contact your phone company and tell them to reset the line of send a signal to reset the modem. My phone rang twice, first time called hung up and called again. Second call showed answered. No one answered that call. Called told them. Xfinity confirmed O didn't have voice it was a glitch. She reset the line and the message and beeps were gone. No more issues. It really is something coming through from your phone company and there is nothing Panasonic can do about it. I contacted them twice and searched forever online.

The msg indicates that you have a message that was left on your phones provider such as Comcast. Sign in to your account online, look for voicemail and there should be a message waiting for you. Play your message or messages and the msg indicator on your phone will go away.

I have the same problem. AT&T says my voice mail is off yet the message keeps popping up that I have a voice mail message. Panasonic(My phone) says it is a AT&T problem. I read where it is a phone problem. I can get it off temporarity by pushing # key until it beeps twice but again it comes up several times thru day.
