Chioe, I had a different model DVD/CD player that did the same thing. It would just keep saying on the screen reading. A friend of mine works in an electronics shop. He said for me to do two things. First buy a DVD/CD cleaning machine (their cheap) online and Best Buy has them in their catalog. Follow the instructions and clean the DVD or CD really good. Then next, take a Q-tip. Put three or four drops of 70 percent rubbing alcohol on one end of the Q-tip. Leave the other end dry. Quickly before the rubbing alcohol evaporates, gently in a circular motion clean the glass laser lens that reads the bottom of the DVD or CD. In a circle motion clean it in a clockwise motion, then quickly use the dry end of the clean Q-tip to buff the lens in a clockwise direction. Use a little flashlight so you can see what your doing. six or seven circles in each direction will be plenty. Then take a regular straw and blow through the straw pointing the end of the straw a couple of inches away from the lens. This will remove any Q-tip cotton fuzz that may have been left on the lens. After I did this to mine, it said reading when I put in a CD and then it went to the first track, a pushed play and it worked perfectly. He said to also before you clean the lens, take your blow dryer, place the setting on cool only...high speed...and blow out any dust or fuzz that had gotten down into the chamber where the laser lens and the DVD and CD disk area is under the lid. That area, the lens, and your DVD's & CD's MUST be clean at all times. If this doesn't work he said that it will have to be sent back to Philips for repair. Or you can call any electronics store in your area that repairs TV's and ask them if they repair portable 9" DVD-CD players. Good Luck.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
