• A:Answer Yes, you can extend the strips. The connectors are easy to use. However, be aware that Philips now charges an extra $50 to be able use the app that controls the lights. You don't find this out until you open the boxes, install the lights, then install the app only to find out it won't work unless you pay the $50 [extortion] fee. This isn't on the box or in any of the literature. I had to google search to find out where this "fee" came from (apparently this policy/charge is less than 60 days old). If I had to do it again I'd save a bunch of money and get the Govee on Amazon. Couldn't return my Hue since all the pieces were unboxed and stuck to my wall before I learned of the extra app fee. Not happy. The product is fine but nothing exceptional, certainly not worth the price.

• A:Answer Short answer…no. But, you can use either/both Hue Labs and the new Effects, which are supported on these newer strips. I use these as a digital fireplace, and have a modified version of Hue Labs Fireplace script that I start FIRST - it gets the ‘flicker’ going, which is like a real-time dimmer effect. Then I go to the strip itself and start the Fireplace Effect. Yes, they have the same name, but are 2 different automations. So don’t hang them from a dimmer…use the software.

• A:Answer I don't find anything on the Phillips site. You might find a DC cable/extension that would allow for a longer distance between the power supply and light elsewhere. Make sure the plug is the same specifications.

• A:Answer Yes, you can do that. In the light settings you can customize the “Power on Behaviour” to be a custom colour/brightness, or set it to the ‘last used’ colour and brightness.
