QuestionI've gone through 3 of these and they all crash/reboot on me, disrupting the light sync and ruining the affect. How does this not happen to everyone else? Customer support ran out of ideas to try.

- Answer I had the exact problem. I then found an article on Reddit that gave the fix. You cannot plug this device into a power strip. I highly recommend plugging this straight into the wall. It instantly fixed all our problems with our box. It works amazingly well!

QuestionWill this work with streaming on a Vizio TV with smartcast built in? (No HDMI throughout as there is no streaming stick).

- Answer No, unfortunately, it only works with sources plugged directly into the Sync Box that pass thought to the TV. Devices such as a streaming stick, game console, Blu-ray player... Streaming from wireless sources (smartcast, mirrorcast, smartview...) are not currently supported, but maybe Philips will add wireless sources down the road.

Questionwill this be able to integrate with my home theater system such as can I do the output of my receiver to one input of the box and back to my TV? If it doesn't work with the receiver I'm going to have to cancel that order.

- Answer Works fine with my denon. I had 3 devices plugged in to my receiver (Xbox one X, Nvidia Shield and my LG TV for ARC). I plugged in my devices to the sync box then plugged in the HDMI out (from the hue) to my receiver. everything functions like it did before.included CEC.

QuestionI have a PS5 plugged directly into my LG CX series TV and can navigate the PlayStation directly with the LG Magic Remote that came with the TV. I'm assuming this is HDMI-CEC? If I stick the Hue Sync box between the PS5 and the TV will this still work?

- Answer It can be used with a PS5/Series X, but you would lose 120fps. The passthrough is only capable of 4K/60. You might be able to send a signal to the box using eARC from your CX though -- not sure on that. I run the sync box out of my AVR's second HDMI output and it works that way.

Questioni understand the sync box does not support dolby vision but if connected does not even change colors at all if the format is dolby vision?

QuestionI just bought the hdmi sync box but have a smart tv where Netflix and so on all apps are built in or downloaded to my tv. I only have a sound bar form the acr running. How or can I use the lights with out hdmi cable

- Answer You can't. You'll need to get a separate streaming device and use that instead of your Smart TV's built in apps. There's no way to make your TV output video to an external device over HDMI.

- Answer This does not add any noticeable latency to games as far as I can tell. If it does, I haven't noticed. I've played Fortnite on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One, Overwatch on the Xbox One, and Black Ops 4 on the PS4.

- Answer If you are using your soundbar with a HDMI ARC connection from the TV, this product won’t work. This sync box wants you to plug in your cable box, gaming system, streaming box directly to the sync box, and send the output of the sync box to the tv. If your soundbar has multiple inputs and you are connecting your sources directly to your soundbar, put them in the sync box instead and use the 1 output of the sync box to the soundbar.

- Answer Trying toggling arc bypass to off. I have my hue sync box going into my Bose SoundTouch 300 then to ARC hdmi input on Samsung tv. No arc bypass toggled on and everything seems to work perfectly. Sometimes the box is slow when switching between hdmi inputs but sound kicks in after 20/30 secs for me.

QuestionHow easy is it to switch between the different HDMI ports. Like switching from TV to a gaming system? Can I do it by voice?

- Answer You have several ways you can switch inputs. One is via the app you install on your phone. Another way is through programming buttons on your other remotes with the Sync box. You can also do it by voice and it works with Alexa and Google Home. I can't speak on how well Alexa works but it works well with Google Home. I can tell it to start/stop the light sync and also tell it which input to switch to.

QuestionCan you use optical cable for sound from sound bar with this?

- Answer I actually have my optical cable from the sound bar connected directly to my tv and it sounds great still. I just have the hdmi cable connected from HDMI 1 to the Hue device and works like a champ. So there is no need to connect the optical cable to the Hue device.

QuestionI saw the announcement back in January that a new update will allow for voice assistant access and unlocking the IR receiver to be able to work with universal remotes like Harmony. Has this firmware actually been released yet?

- Answer It was finally released yesterday on 5/28/2020. Linked it up with my already setup TV remote and was one of the easiest things I’ve ever setup. The hardest part was figuring out which button I want to use on the remote.

- Answer If your TV is a smart TV (comes with Netflix, Hulu, etc...) preloaded/ automatically installed on the TV then the Sync box will not work. This is because it requires some sort of external (none smart TV) input for it to mimic the media being played. That being said, your in luck because your already using your PS4. I’d recommend activating your streaming services on your PS4 and watching your shows through that HDMI input. If your not into that solution a Google Chromecast is a cheap work around that won’t really defeat the purpose of having a smart TV ...but tbh I’d go the PS4 route... I know this because my sync box worked with my LG, Nintendo Switch, and Apple TV as an HDMI input to the sync box. Then I moved the Apple TV to the Samsung and started watching Netflix directly from the LG and sync box and quickly realized I was no longer providing an actual HDMI input to the sync box (meaning the sync box no longer worked while watching Netflix, but was still working for my Nintendo Switch). After searching for a YouTube video to confirm my suspicions I removed the Chromecast (which I never use) from the Samsung and placed in the LG. Long story short I wasn’t a fan of the Chromecast interface (although it worked) so I grabbed the PS4 from the Samsung and used it on the LG. Next I downloaded Hulu and Netflix and now I’m satisfied.

QuestionDoes this device need to be connected to internet at all? Or does it strictly function through the HDMI connectors and just being powered on? If it does require internet is it wireless or need to be connected via ethernet cord?

- Answer It does have to be on your home network for it to work you also have to have hue bridge.

- Answer No. This unit provides lighting synchronization by itself to any HDMI source. You do however need to also own philips hue lights and hub in order for it to work.

QuestionWhat are the best options to play music with the lights connected. I know I have to have music source plugged into sync box. That rules out iphone, alexa etc. Is there a way to connect something and be able to use spotify or imusic?

- Answer You would need a device that has those apps with an hdmi port like a PC, Apple TV, Android TV, Firestick, etc. Or a converter box from an analog source to HDMI

- Answer it does NOT work. I was incorrect. apparently the one I have is a V2. I forgot that I replaced my V1 a while ago. It does in fact need a v2.

- Answer You need Phillips bridge because that’s how you connect with sync box if no bridge your lights won’t change with your display on television

- Answer Box works fine. I have mine in between the receiver and tv. Cuts on and off with tv power. And also has a switch u can set for this purpose. I have all my stuff hooked to the receiver and the receiver runs to the box and box to tv.
