  • QuestionDoes the ring doorbell 4 require hardwire or can it be used just with the battery & wi fi & does it have better video than the ring 3?

    Asked by cherri.

    • Answer You can run it with just wifi and battery, if you never plan on hard wiring it in, I would pick up a second battery so that you can charge it up when this one notifies you its down to pretty low %. This way you can swap it out in 30 seconds flat with no real downtime as opposed to taking the battery out, having a few hours of down time and having to slap it back in when charged.

  • QuestionWhat is the major difference between this one and the ring 2.?

    Asked by preorder.

    • Answer Hello willm2work, Great question. The Ring Video Doorbell 4 has all the same great features of the previous generations of battery video doorbells, including Ring Video Doorbell, Ring Video Doorbell 2, Ring Video Doorbell 3, and Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus. The difference is it adds a number of new features on top of them. These include: Dual-band wifi that work on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. 1080p HD video with night vision. Color Pre-Roll enabled. The main difference between Ring Video Doorbell 3 and Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus and Ring Video Doorbell 4, is that Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus and Ring Video Doorbell 4 have a pre-roll feature, which allows you to see up to 4 additional seconds of video before a motion event is triggered – a first-to-market feature for battery-powered doorbells and unique exclusively to Ring. The main differences between the Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus and Ring Video Doorbell 4 is that the pre-roll video previews on Video Doorbell 4 are in color, have a higher quality video, and improved nigh time functionality. • QuestionIs there a monthly charge for ring 4 doorbell?

    Asked by Confident.

    • Answer Hello Patrica, Great question! We want to ensure that we can answer any questions you may have concerning how the Ring Protect Plans work and how to save and share videos when necessary. Ring gives a complimentary 30-day trial with each new Ring device. After 30 days, you can choose if you would like to purchase a Ring Protect Plan. A Ring Protect Plan is not necessary to view real-time notifications on your Ring cameras. Without the Ring Protect Plan, you can still use the live view and two-way audio features. You are still able to see who is at your door and answer motion notifications. In order to see past recorded videos from your ring device, you will need the optional Ring Protect Plan, which starts at $3/month per device or $30/year per device. Please see the following link for more information regarding the Ring Protect Plan and the benefits it offers: https://ring.com/protect-plans?undefined. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback/experiences with Ring. • QuestionDoes Doorbell 4 have the 3D Motion Detection and Bird’s Eye View? I get a lot of false front door alerts cause by Big trucks on my Ring3, already adjusted alerts and with a freshly painted house don't want the smaller mount Ring Pro. If not, when will it?

    Asked by Steve.

    • Answer I have not had that problem with my Ring 4. I can't speak to the tech side but it has been very specific to notify me of people only as they approach on my walkway.

  • QuestionDo you need a doorbell connection (I don't have a doorbell) to use Ring?

    Asked by Momof1.

    • Answer No, you don't need a doorbell connection. But you will need to use it wirelessly, which means charging the battery. I recommend buying a second battery for convenient, consistent operation. With the ring app, it will let you know when the battery is low so you can charge the second battery to take the place of the powering down battery

  • QuestionDoes it allow local card storage? Only cloud? What if power outage? Free cloud storage for basic plan?

    Asked by Justin.

    • Answer Hello Justin, Great question! The Ring Video Doorbell only allows cloud storage. We offer an optional basic Ring Protect Plan starting at $3/month or $30/year. If the power goes out at your home the doorbell will be unable to record since the doorbell needs WIFI to operate.
