For mine it runs on the hardwire but it seems that being connected to the hardwire also charges the battery inside as when it was first install the battery level was 27% but gradually has gone up to 76% over the course of 2 weeks

The micro-USB cable can be plugged into any USB power source such as a computer. Your battery will take around six to eight hours to fully charge, depending on whether the USB cable is plugged into a USB port or into a wall outlet. If you decide to hardwire the Ring Video Doorbell 4, it will help elongate the battery life, but you may still need to charge the battery. Please see our help center article for more information: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360059528951-Charging-the-Battery-for-Your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-4. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out through our Ring Community forum on Ring.com (http://ring.com/): https://community.ring.com/. Thank you, Jamila with Ring.
