• A:Answer The pack has black and white compression collars. Use the white ones for thick gauge and the black ones for thin gauge. Do not strip the wire. Unscrew the plug and send the wire through the bottom plug portion. Fit the appropriate compression collar for your wire gauge (they can be adjusted a little) over the wire and then screw the upper banana plug part onto the collar and wire screwing it into the lower banana assembly. Make sure with is finger tight. It should not be loose as long as you use the correct collar and don't distend it trying to get it on the wire you're using. Hope that helps.

Q: QuestionMy Polk ceiling speakers have bi-wire cable. Will these work with a Fosi amp, which has single-wire output?

• A:Answer The speaker wire shown in your image appears to be rather thin wire, perhaps 22 gauge, and therefore is outside of the usable range of these banana plugs due to their method of connecting the wire to the plug. There are some other brands of banana plugs that use a screw to hold the wire to the connector. Such style would work with your thin wire, but these Rocketfish connectors most assuredly would not reliably hold your speaker wire. You would need to upgrade your speaker wire to use the Rocketfish connectors. A speaker requires two conductor connections: one connection is labeled "+" and the other "-" (sometimes these are color coded as red and black, respectively, although some other color schemes are also in use). A speaker must have a separate conductor connecting to the "+" and "-" terminals, otherwise you don't have a complete circuit. A banana plug is used for only one conductor, thus you need two banana plugs to connect one speaker to the amplifier. Your amplifier has two channels (left and right for stereo) thus a pack of 4 banana plugs would enable you to connect two speakers to your amp. If your speakers also accept banana plugs, you could use 4 more banana plugs to connect the wires to the speakers (thus you'd have banana plugs at both the speaker and at the amp). But again, these particular plugs are not suitable for the small wire (larger gauge number) you are using.

• A:Answer I’d say stranded wire. You impale the wire on a spike as you tighten the threaded nut. Not sure a solid wire will work if extremely thick and likely won’t make a good connection if trying to wrap the single wire around the stubby spike.

• A:Answer Not likely, the collars keep thr speaker wire in contact with the body of the plug. Without it, the speaker wire comes undone and doesnt hold good contact. One could try a wrap or two of duct tape around the speaker wire to pull the speaker wire into the body of the plug to keep contact.

• A:Answer Banana plugs are meant for the Binding post connection on Receivers and Speakers. I suggest you buy the Pin connection plugs which will connect to Spring clip. I have a set of old Fischer Monster speakers which have the Spring clips for wire connections as did my old receiver from 1976.
