The pack has black and white compression collars. Use the white ones for thick gauge and the black ones for thin gauge. Do not strip the wire. Unscrew the plug and send the wire through the bottom plug portion. Fit the appropriate compression collar for your wire gauge (they can be adjusted a little) over the wire and then screw the upper banana plug part onto the collar and wire screwing it into the lower banana assembly. Make sure with is finger tight. It should not be loose as long as you use the correct collar and don't distend it trying to get it on the wire you're using. Hope that helps.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just watched a YouTube video of how to install it on the wire and how to use the washer a3 min video works perfect for mine 12 gauge wire just type in rocketfish banana plugs
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Initially, I installed these banana plugs on both ends of 12Ga speaker wire that I was using for a different application. With the black collars, I had a good secure connection. One day I discovered that the markings on the wire showed CCA. Horror of horrors; that is copper clad aluminum. I got good quality 12GA copper speaker wire (not the $100/foot nonsense) and re-used the plugs. However, this time I used the white compression collars as they seem to fit nicely on the wire insulation. It appears that this system works best with either 12 or 14 gauge wire if you want a connection that won't pull out. Regardless of gauge, I would try either collar first to see what has a good fit. The thickness and if the insulation tends to be soft or stiff will determine which to use.

When you have the washers the correct way, you can fully tighten the nut. Washers in the wrong direction will prevent the nut from fully seating and this won’t hold the wires secure. The washers are intended for smaller gauge stranded wire. I had to fold my stranded wire over on itself to create enough bulk to get a secure connection and hold the wire in place.
