Yes it can. I have direct tv. As long as u have an hdmi cable to hook up to your tv and then connect to the device then your good to go.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Sure! Just look on the back or side of your TV for the inputs. You'll probably want to use HDMI, which is a one-cord hookup. Then go to your TV remote (or DirectTV - your installer should had "paired" it to your TV so you can use one remote) and select the "input" remote. Scroll to the input you used - like HDMI 1, HDMI2, AV, etc. When you hit the correct input, the screen will come up purple with "ROKU" written in large letters. Then take your Roku remote and hit "Netflix", "Hulu", or whatever you want - it will first let you install any program not pre-installed, and then you can select them to watch individually.
