Hi, I have the Samsung fridge with the self-filling pitcher inside and noticed (and did) all the same things noted in the comments. After a while the pitcher gets very moldy. I threw it in the dishwasher and the pitcher part melted so I couldn’t put the top back on. The replacement pitcher is $100 (ridiculous). But what I decided to try was to remelt (heat up) the pitcher and bend the plastic back so that the top fit again. IT WORKED! I first tried to run it through the dishwasher and then remold it, but it didn’t get hot enough. I then boiled a large pot of water, put the top of the pitcher in it until it became pliable, slid the top into the hot plastic and ran it under cold water to harden it in place. The tops back on, and it works in the fridge. The melting incident is unnoticeable. Thank goodness because I didn’t want to spend $100 on a plastic pitcher, but it is a key feature of the fridge. Just wanted to post this in case it helps someone else. Samsung should fix the moldy/melting pitcher issue.

Its $100 to replace a piece of plastic that melts in the dishwasher. Cant cost them more than $2 to make yet they want a 50x profit margin on it. Its shameful really. Either make a higher quality product or charge a more reasonable 20-40 replacement for such a cheap part.

I've searched all over the web for this product and I'm getting incredibly frustrated. I simply cannot understand how a single pitcher can cost $100!!!! That is ridiculous. I love my Samsung products - but the replacement parts are insanely overpriced. 

I'm not sure that I will pursue Samsung moving forward.

I hope this gets read and is helpful. There are a couple of places that you can get a new one. It doesn't say on the pitcher anywhere that you should only wash by hand, but the manual for the fridge does warn you not to wash in the dishwasher, so we are all screwed and they know it. I can go buy two instant pots for the amount of money they want for this piece of plastic. It's shameful really, but that's the way it is when looking for parts. However, this part should fall in to a different category. Another problem is, you have to get the entire 3 pieces if you want a replacement. You can't just get the pitcher (which is the part that melts.) 

So if you are buying a Samsung refrigerator with a water pitcher in the door, be sure to wash it regularly by hand. It will get super moldy if you don't clean it.

I dont usually take the time to write one of these but I share the frustration with all of you as I also put the pitcher in the dishwasher. After reading and searching myself to find out the replacement is $100 I decided to attempt to fix mine as someone suggested. If you get a pot of water close to boil or even boiling and dip the top into itfor 10-20 second clips you can re mold it. It took me about 10 mins and it fits perfectly again. Remove the rubber seal thats on the cover so it doesnt get hot and press the cover into the pitcher one side at a time. Keep re heating pitcher and re insert cover and press rim of pitcher tight to cover. It will work, slow and steady! Do not run under cold water though as someone suggested, i believe that will cause the plastic to crack.

Put a rubber band around the existing gasket. Its a .01 cent fix for a .10 cent part. Between this and the ice maker I will never buy another samsung appliance. They are terrible.

Our water pitcher/infuser warped also. 100+ dollars for a new one is way beyond outrageous. We tried heating the top edges in boiling water and reforming with the lid. Worked perfectly. This is also one of the Samsung refrigerators with the dreadful ice maker. 
We hope other folks have better luck with Samsung products. As for us, we will studiously AVOID ever purchasing another Samsung product.

I have had mine less then a year and the mother board has gone out. This has also happened to my pitcher would have been nice to know they are not dishwasher safe. I feel that $100 is excessive for a replacement samsung will not be my top choice again.

WOW, $100!!!! This is crazy. First the pitcher leaked from day one, brand new. Washed by hand but was still not clean enough. Therefore we put in dishwasher, because it doesn't say you cannot. Melted the top portion area, not allowing the lid to go together. Now trying to buy replacement to only find them around $100. INSANE!!!

I am forever grateful to the person who suggested the boiling water fix - IT WORKED!!! We tried it just now. Had to dip it in the boiling water a few times until we realized it needed about 20 seconds of soaking before it really got pliable, but it was so easy to work with and didn't burn my fingers, and the pitcher now looks and works like new. Thank you SO much for solving the problem. We ordered a new pitcher from Samsung well over a year ago, for more than a hundred bucks, and are sick and tired of waiting for a response.

I too am looking for replacement pitcher, I am beyond horrified that this seems to be the most expensive replacement part on this whole refrigerator. For a part that Samsung obviously knew would eventually end up in a dishwasher and to not label it “not dishwasher safe”   I am just sad that I did not find this feed before my husband threw the melted pitcher out, as it seems that there is a work around spending this kind of money.
Makes me wish I was an attorney or at least knew a corporate attorney as this would make a sure win class action lawsuit.

Same problem.  They do not stand behind the cheap pitcher which melts on the top rack of the dishwasher.  The pitcher costs 130.00 now !  We don’t even need the top part to the pitcher.  But they make you buy the entire thing - top and bottom.  How wasteful !!  And expensive !!  We are going to try the boil water trick.  So far it hasn’t worked.

In order to have safe water, the pitcher must be able to be sanitized to rid it of mold.  The best was is with a dishwasher.  Samsung must provide a pitcher which can provide safe drinking water.  That is a big reason why we bought the frig !

Sure, but it's well over $100.
Hot water, directly from the tap, is hot enough to melt/deform the pitcher.  Only wash it by hand with cold water.

They currently want 115 to 135 for a water pitcher. Samsung is dead to me now. Fleecing of customers is getting to be a joke. On top of the faulty ice maker immediately after purchase, a tv that went bad in less than a year, and all the online complaints, they need to start focusing on the end user, not exponential profit goals.

I took my pitcher apart so that I could thoroughly wash it by hand, but now I can't put it back together.  I was happy with the pitcher before then and I am still happy with the fridge.

$100 is crazy expensive, but I might the bullet and never take it apart again.

Samsung should fix this problem or provide a more reasonable alternative.

Hi, I also put the pitcher in the dishwasher and it warped. I tried what the other good people here suggested: stick the pitcher in boiling water and push the top back on when the plastic is warm: it worked like a charm! I called Samsungs supplier for parts first but the pitcher is almost $100 and it had a 4-6 weeks delivery https://www.samsungparts.com/ , so I started to look elsewhere and found this conversation.

Same issue but now the price of a replacement pitcher has gone up to over $150 for a new one. Most of the parts even say they're dishwasher safe besides the pitcher itself, which as others have shared, gets SUPER moldy super fast. Warp it if you can, Samsung customer service is absolutely terrible.

Very Annoying that Samsung would supply a very expensive refrigerator with a pitcher that is not dishwasher safe and then charge $100 for a replacement. Talk about price gouging. I will try to remold the top with very hot water.
