Monitors do not do anything different when in a dual monitor configuration. Each monitor gets its own connection (e.g., HDMI or DisplayPort cable) with a separate signal from your graphics card (or internal graphics chip). Thus, the real question is whether your computer has the necessary support for dual monitors.

It is a bit large to use as a secondary monitor unless you're using it as a main monitor. However, I wouldn't recommend it for gaming because of its 5ms response time and 60hz display. Otherwise, yes, it can be used like having dual monitors.
