Yes, run one cycle empty so the dryer can "burn" off and out gases from the materials, as these may get into the first load of clothes.

There's nothing in particular you need to do before drying your first load, though it's recommended that you review the installation check list on page 17 of the DV40J3000EW User Manual and also familiarize yourself with the Safety Instructions. While not necessary, it may also be wise to wipe down the inside of the drum with a clean, damp cloth to remove any debris that may have found it's way inside during delivery or installation. - Ms. Samsung
