Yes you need an HDMI 4K cable to get the best output from TV. You also need a power outlet for the power cord. The back speakers and subwoofer connect via Bluetooth to the sound bar, but all three need power outlets to function.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.all the speakers need to be connected into an electrical outlet. It is not required however to have an hdmi cable to the tv, bluetooth and wifi connections are available, the best sound quality goes bluetooth then wifi then hdmi. when in wifi mode this system is able to pair with another sound system for a more immersive 360 degree sound stage. This sound system is able to play in qsymphony mode when paired with a samsung tv, where the tv speakers are playing the voice channels with the sound bar simultaneously.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi JDJ, The HW-Q990B Soundbar has the ability to connect to any TV using a wireless Bluetooth Connection. If you are using one of the select 2022 Samsung TVs, you can choose to connect using Wi-Fi for an industry first ability to send Dolby Atmos over the Wi-Fi connection. You will need to plug in all of the components to outlets to power the system. ~Samsung Solutions
