You can use the Sandisk SecureAccess software. It will provide password protection and encryption. The first time you use the drive you will be prompted to download the software. It is optional. It is exactly what you are asking for. Good Luck

Since I am the only person using my SSD, I had no use for password protection, and I did not see anything in the drive folder referring to password protection. The included setup/instructional manual was printed in a surprisingly small fine print, which was the only down side to the package for me. Try a public search engine to further research your question.
