• I do not believe that despite a compatible cable that there will be enough power to spin the drive from an Android device

• This is a bit of a tough question. It depends on your phone. I have a phone with Android 12 and I can connect, with an otg cable (or USB-A to USB-C adapter) any hard drive. I'm not sure when they added this functionality, but if your phone is Android 12 or newer it will work.
