Can you use it on your living room which is carpet null

I would say no. The Shark Hydro-Vac is mainly a hard floor cleaner. It will switch between floor and rug, where it stops liquid flow to the head. But the WD-101's motor is smaller, made to pick up surface dirt; and messes, and does a great job cleaning the messes up. No more wearing yourself out mopping floors.
