“Does this sensor need a base station to work? If it does is there anything else that I need for it to work? Do I have to get a monitoring plan for it to produce a door chime or no? Thank you!”

You will need the base station and the key pad for the sensor to work they offer a simple monitoring plan for a monthly fee if you want to use your phone to access the alarm will cost you more , system can be use with out monitoring services but you will not get alerts on your phone and you will have to manually at the keypad turn the system on and off also you will need WiFi.

Usually sold together. the Base station is the brains of the system and the key pad other the obvious use of engaging and disengaging the alarm is also used to install all sensors. A sensor alone will not work. You Don't need the monitoring plan however without it in case the alarm is triggered only the alarm will sound but it wont be contacting Police etc
