Q: QuestionWill my remote for my Sony Bravia (2015 model) raise and lower the volume on the soundbar or do I need to use the remote that came with the soundbar?

• A:Answer I have the Sony TV XBR - 65X850D and the Sony sound bar CT790. The TV remote does control the soundbar volume when it is on. The only time I grab the sound bar remote is to choose a different sound effect or adjust the sub woofer volume independently.

Q: QuestionPurchased Sony Bravia xbr55 and HTCT790 sound bar. Connected with supplied hdmi cable. The two are not compatible: cannot get the home menu to display. Tried each and every hdmi port, 1 - 4. How do I link the sub woofer under these conditions?

• A:Answer Did you plug it into the HDMI arc on the soundbar? I put it into the wrong one at first. I have called Sony customer quite a few times to set this up. They are great and free.

Q: QuestionHow do I link the sub with the sound bar without a remote? The system never had one when I bought it. It worked fine for a year but now it has disconnected and I can not get it to reconnect. Please help. Thanks.

• A:Answer I’m not sure you can without a remote, but... This happened to me. You have to connect the system to your screen and access the sound bar menu. HDMI 3 (ARC) channel. You might be able to do that with the buttons on the bar. It took me several tries. Maybe a cheap universal remote can be programmed for it?

Q: QuestionSony ht-ct790. Green light showing on the subwoofer but there is no bass coming thru it at all. The sound bar works but sounds very tinny. I moved the subwoofer and it started working but has again stopped working and the green light is still on.

Q: QuestionDoes the display on this have an auto shut off feature when the sound bar goes on? I.E the display only pops up when you interface with it and you dont have to turn the display off every time the sound bar comes on.

• A:Answer Yes, the sound bar display will time out and go black (not exactly sure exactly how long) into standby mode. It will still be connected to your WiFi Network and be can awoken by video or audio input.

Q: QuestionDoes this device have a separate volume control for voice only? I don't mean just raising the volume on the audio, I mean just increase only the dialogue. Background music and other noise interferes with speech in many movies. Thank you.

• A:Answer The CT790 does not have a separate volume for voice, it does have a 2 level "Voice Up" feature on the remote. This feature bumps up the voice only part of the audio in two levels or off. I have noticed this system in general has good voice/effect sound separation. I have also had systems that the voice is drowned out - like with TV speakers only - this sound bar is the best I've owned for nice clear voice over the surround sound effects. I paired with (2) SRS-ZR5 rear speakers and have a very nice surround set up for ~$700, which is the price of the Bose Sound Touch 300 sound bar only!

Q: QuestionMy current boze soundbar powers itself down when no signal is received from the tv, so i can use one remote and don't have to turn on the sounbar when I turn on the tv with my x1 remote. Will any Sony soundbars do the same thing?

Q: QuestionYour first reply said added speakers will enhance the sound system. Product info shows adding wireless speakers. If not possible, you need to modify your online product information. Please double check and let me know for sure what speakers can be added.

• A:Answer Here is what I did...ran my soundbar to the TV with the optical cable and then used the HDMI ARC connection between the two. Then, using the BlueTooth connection in my TV I connected to external devices and since you have the soundbar connected to the tv with the ARC cable, ALL SOUND is sent through the soundbar. Hope this helps.
