The TV will show what resolution the source input is. Make sure your device that is going into the TV is sending the 1080p signal. As far as glare, I only notice it when I have direct light hitting the TV. If you can, adjust the position of your lighting or put up some kind of diffuser between the TV and the light source.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The type of panel that Sony used on the 900E TV's is subject to glare and reflection. Closing the blinds / shades / drapes / curtains and turning off certain lights is the only way to eliminate it. The 800E series may produce less glare, but the panel is also not as high quality when it comes to the images. The reason that the TV shows 720 is because that's the quality of the source that you're viewing. If you have set your cable box or satellite box up to allow "native resolution", it will push whatever the signal is being transmitted at to the TV. Networks like Fox and ABC transmit in 720 while CBS and NBC transmit in 1080. Certain shows, however, can be lower resolution that the max that the network supports.
