Do not fall for this sales pitch! QLED is simply an LCD TV with LED backlighting. It is the same LCD screen technology that gets washed out in any sunlight, and although it may be brighter backlighting you will still have the same issue. OLED gives true black and does not have light bleed like LCD. It performs perfectly in direct sunlight or a dark room. I have the 77A80J in a very bright room and it is spectacular as compared to my last LCD TV with LED backlighting.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is subjective, but I would get the QN90a for a well lit room. It is capable of getting extremely bright while staying accurate without washed out colors, it is very vibrant. It is literally 3-4 times brighter than the a80j or any other OLED for that matter. It is currently the brightness QLED available to date. If you were in a dark or light controlled environment, I would say OLED with its infinite contrast. Also, with a dimmer display it won’t be able to drown out the reflections on the screen like a bright unit. Be mindful of that if you have windows that will cast light from behind or the side. If you haven’t experienced OLED before coming from an LED, you will be let down with the brightness initially especially in a bright environment. OLED also has pretty aggressive ABL which will kick in during full screen bright scenes. Remember it is possible to dial down a bright picture, but is impossible to brighten a dim display. I owned the 75” variant of the QN90a and currently own a 77” a80j. Here are some technical comparisons of the QN90 vs. a80j https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/samsung-qn90a-qled-vs-sony-a80j-oled/21551/21563

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi jBurd3, Thank you for inquiring about the A80J. With A80J, you can see supreme pictures and sound, whatever the environment. Our unique ambient optimization technology with light sensor automatically adjusts picture and sound to your environment. On conventional TVs, brightness stays the same regardless of light in a room, resulting in pictures that are too dark or bright. The A80J includes a Light Sensor that optimizes picture brightness to room conditions, boosting brightness in light rooms and reducing it in dark ones so you get the perfect view. For best picture quality, do not expose the screen to direct illumination or sunlight. Hope this helps. Regards, Jess
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.the q90a is trash. its bright all right but its way too in your face. the blooming is awful and the dirty screen effect is terrible. stay away.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.works just fine. screen adapts to light it senses. no problems
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Don’t be suckered into Samsung light cannons. If you want best quality picture inside your home.. oled is only way to go… burn in/lack of brightness/peak nits… all nonsense to try and sell lcd’s. Qled is a gimmick, its still a backlit lcd with all the inherent issues that go with that. There is nothing wrong with buying an lcd tv, especially if you are sitting far away in extremely bright room ( tons of direct sunlight) But if your in a “normal”room, brightness will not be an issue, in fact you may find yourself dialing down the brightness on oled ;)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The A80 is great in bright rooms, the a90 is only a touch brighter. I’ve done a side by side comparison and the difference is hard to detect. A90 is overpriced now and will several thousand dollars cheaper in a few months. The comment about a90 being 4x brighter is ridiculous. Go look at side by side
