I checked with Sony regarding this. Yes, it is supposed to work as long as you use the optical output on the TV to connect to the hearing aids. We purchased the Mee Audio Connect to make the Bluetooth connection to the hearing aids, but the tech was not able to get the Mee Audio device to pair with my wife's hearing aids. It was disappointing but we are getting by with closed captioning.

The TV cannot output sound from both an audio system connected via HDMI eARC/ARC and Optical function at the same time. By connecting your hearing aid to the TV headphone jack (3.5 mm stereo mini jack) and your Soundbar or Receiver to the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT port, it will output sound from both the hearing aid and a Soundbar or Receiver at the same time.
