• A:Answer My player is connected to my audio system via a coax digital cable. I was able to play a SACD. However, I don't know if it was playing the SACD layer or the CD layer. (My guess is the CD layer, but unsure.)

• A:Answer No it is a DVD/Blueray disc player only there is no 8mm slot to play the tapes! 8mm players are the same size as this but that is not what this unit does I don’t know if Sony still makes 8mm players/recorders!
