  • QuestionWhat happens if you play an HDR-10 blu ray disc on the Dolby Vision setting? If you forget to switch the setting.

    Asked by ScottF.

    • Answer The answer to the question is... don't do it because the picture will look terrible. The colors will be clearly off the mark if you do that. I did that by mistake with the Sony UBP 800M2, which is the one right over this one, and the picture looked terrible, causing me to suspect something was wrong with the 4K disc. Come to find out, I didn't turn off DV, and the player was trying to do something to the disc that the disc wasn't going along with. So when I purchased this one, that's something you just have to remember to do. I wish they would put a auto setup for DV, but for whatever reason, it hasn't happened yet.

  • QuestionDoes this remote allow frame-by-frame slow-motion scanning?

    Asked by Chris.

    • Answer Yes. It does have a slow motion feature, but I think that actual frame-by-frame requires repeated pressing of the pause button.

  • QuestionCan this connect to my laptop?

    Asked by Jlou97.

    • Answer Not really - there are ways to get it done, but the DRM might not let it connect. You would need something that honors DRM as an HDMI capture device - and at 4k to boot to get the best value out of it. If you are just looking for a device to watch physical movies on your laptop, there are plenty of great USB based drives that you could utilize and some software like VLC player which can be downloaded for free. Just make sure to get a drive and videos from your "region". You only get so many changes before you get region locked.

  • QuestionCan I watch DVD's wirelessly on my Smart TV using a HDMI transmitter and receiver?

    Asked by ARA2008.

    • Answer Hi Rita459, thanks for your question! About the HDMI transmitter, we suggest you to use wired connections, since the player is designed to perform with wires, this does not mean it wouldn't work, but you may face some issues with the connections. Once more, it may work, but we recommend you using wired connection instead of wireless. Thanks for choosing Sony! Gus
