It's a single gear, pedaling is not hard to get it going but hard to past 10mph. Depending if you don't mind biking at a very slow speed but pedaling at a high rate when your battery dies. To charge the battery from 0% took 5hours

You can't change gears as it's only one gear/sprocket of course so it's a lot of work to pedal manually. I would use the range monitor on the display that tells you approximately how many miles left. My experience has been if it gets to around 5 miles of range you better get somewhere quick because it dies fast after that! That being said, they are super fun bikes so enjoy!

Our R model is designed to work best with pedal assist use in tandem with the throttle, but has the capabilities of a traditional bike regarding pedaling. Your R model usually takes around 6-7 hours from a depleted battery to full charge. We hope this helps! Take care and ride safe out there!!
