It just overwrites old data. You don’t need to erase manually.

I hardwired it, so it can record when car is off and it feels a G-force movement. G-force as light a closing car doors. I bought another one for my wife. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The camera fills up your SD card with videos of 1 minute or 3 minute videos,,, then begins writing over them one by one beginning with the oldest first. You don't have to keep erasing them.
