Hi! Kasa Smart plugs utilize the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi spectrum for connectivity to your network. If by "5G" you are asking about 5G cellular data Internet services - the smart plug should be able to connect to your router as long as it is broadcasting 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. However, if by "5G" you are referring to 5GHz Wi-Fi, the answer would be no; 2.4GHz is required.

It does not matter if the smartphone is connected to the internet on your home WiFi, a guest WiFi, or using cellular data (LTE or 5G). As long as a person can access the internet, the Kasa App allows them to control these plugs.
