A:AnswerThis phone is 4G enabled once you get Best Buy to properly activate it. Your Tracfone that ends in February 2022, which is 3G. So the answer is yes this phone will work on the new service. Actually it is not a new Tracfone service. You, like me, have been using 3G, and did not want to change. But this smart phone is just the other side of Tracfone. Basic 3G has many uses other then phone. So Tracfone has been selling both old services, and the "new" services at the same time. You just have to pay more to use 4G which will likely be around at least 5-8 years. Then comes 5G which people can buy now, if they want the latest is connectivity & are willing to pay for it. A:AnswerIf you only turn data on to talk and text and use WiFi for everything else, you will have little useage problems with Tracfone GB, air minutes, phone texts. The trick is to go to "Settings" once the phone is activated, and make sure WiFi is enabled. Then what occurs is every thing (most everything) you do goes thru WiFi and does not drain you mobile Tracfone data. Warnings - if you turn the new smart phone off and back on, I noticed that it automatically turns WiFi off, which allows the useage to go thru Tracfone service costs. My neighbor helped me set up my Tracfone, so he has a iPhone, which he says is a different operating system, but he was able to figure out how this android limited phone worked. Remember that when you transfer to the new Tracfone it is 4G functioning. So with 3G you only had airtime and minutes. With 4G you have GB data, air minutes, and phone texts. By keeping WiFi on/or turning back on after shutting the phone off, you will have most of your Tracfone services not be charged to you, but go thru WiFi. Also when you keep Tracfone you will have all the unused 3G stuff converted to 4G and have a surplus of the GB data, air minutes, and phone texts. Sorry I have no idea how much average usage is as everyone uses stuff differently. But as I tried to pick a Tracfone service under 4G with this phone, I bought a 60 day time frame, so I could figure out if I wanted to stay with Tracfone, as I find their plans on 4G to be about 50% more on a yearly basis. On a monthly basis it is about 250% more. Since I had 3G for several years, the conversion stuff gave me a nice cushion if I keep after 60 days. Peter 18February2022 Seattle, WA.
A:AnswerYour previous plan will end as soon as you activate your Smart phone with Tracfone. I lost time on my 3G phone, but with Tracfone, you can transfer airtime & minutes. They will convert the previous account to GB (what ever that is), air minutes, and texts allowed. So, I lost the end date from my previous phone, but got a big credit for the 60 day period purchase of active service. I will need to decide if this Tracfone is ok for me long term meaning one year at a time. If you do use this phone, one trick I learned is to enable WiFi thru "Settings". When you do this, every thing you do on Tracfone is charged first to WiFi account, which I have, so I do not use any of the GB stuff, air minutes, nor texts by phone. After WiFi would come "mobile data", so then you are using Tracfone services. By the way, I figure this phone will cost me about 50% more per year if I buy a year. If I buy less, (by the month) it could run up to 250% more. That is how Tracfone gets you by using their services of mobile data, air minutes, and texts ! Peter 18February2022, Seattle, Washington

A:AnswerNo. This is a tracfone. SIM cards can only be switched between TracFones. You will not be able to replace a SIM card in a TracFone with a SIM card from another carrier. Tracfone uses GSM and CDMA meaning they use all the towers of t-mobile, sprint, at&t and verizon but phones come carrier locked. You would need an unlocked carrier phone , unlock the tracfone or an at&t phone. You can buy the tracfone and ask tracfone to carrier unlock it but most companies have stipulations, tracfones policy stated If the TracFone device was activated with TracFone service prior to November 23, 2021, then the device must have been active on TracFone Service for no fewer than 12 months with Service Plans redeemed in no fewer than 12 months, and not have had their telephone number recycled or ported.
If the TracFone device was activated with new service on the Verizon network on or after November 23, 2021, then at least 60 days must have elapsed since the device was activated.
The device must be in working condition.
The device has not been reported stolen or lost, and there are no indicators of fraud.
A:AnswerLocked means if it is a Tracfone phone you can only purchase Tracfone prepaid cards, it will not use ATT , Verizon plans, etc. Unlocked means you can use any phone plan you like. So an ATT locked phone cannot use Tracfone prepaid plans, but an unlocked one will.
