A:Answer First, let me say that I'm not an expert on this device. I bought it primarily to use as a secure internet source when traveling. It essentially provides a Wi-Fi hot spot to which you can wirelessly connect up to 8 devices. I don't know the range of the device, but I would guess that it's less than a home router. You pay for the service via a monthly device charge as well as a monthly data charge from Verizon - just like paying for data coming though your phone. You can add it to your existing Verizon line after a 1 month activation fee and a minimum 1 GB data plan. After that you pay a $10/month fee to keep it on your existing plan (no extra data beyond what is already on you plan). You can purchase more data, if needed, through Verizon. I would check with Verizon as the explanation may be different depending on your existing plan. Would I use it as a router at home? Not likely. If you already have an internet provider at home, you should simply use that service as paying for data coming through the Jetpack would not make sense. Hope this helps.
