QuestionIs the sound bar wireless or just the subwoofer?

- Answer It depends on what you want to do, the sound bar can be used wirelessly if you go with a Bluetooth source, that works fine for music, but may introduce lag if the sound is coming from your tv. Plus, using bluetooth you don't get the surround/atmos sound. So usually from a tv you have to be wired to get the better quality experience. Then the subwoofer is wirelessly connecting to the soundbar and the 2 satellite speakers that go in the back are plugged to the subwoofer, meaning there is no cable at all between the front (the sound bar) and the back (subwoofer + satellite speakers)

QuestionCan a purchaser please comment on placing the subwoofer, as Vizio recommends, next to the listening couch? I would think this might give unpleasant experiences.

- Answer So the sub location is kind of a mixed bag in my opinion. If your on a couch in a living room and you're able to place the sub behind the main listening position, I think you will be happy! However.... in my experience, I bought this system for my bedroom and therefore had to place the sub against the back wall next to my bed in order to have the rear satellite speakers placed at the rear of my room. The sub for movies did a good job of dissapearing into the soundtrack with only minimal localization. But.... for news or watching a football game, the system uses the sub to help fill in the deeper bass of voices and boy oh boy was I able to localize the bass from the sub coming from left rear while watching the TV in front of me. It drove me nuts! I'm probably more sensitive to that then others may be however so take my opinion for just that, an opinion. My answer was to relocate the sub to the front wall next to the dresser where my TV is placed and wow... a drastic improvement! Now bass is localized to the front soundstage rather then feeling disconnected from the soundbar. No more hearing bass coming from my left rear and all other sound anchored to the TV. The negative to this approach however is I now had to rotate the rear surround satellites to the front right next to the soundbar. Luckily, the vizio is great at giving a wide Soundstage and I was still impressed at the soundbara ability to provide a pseudo surround effect even with the surround speakers placed up front.

QuestionCan you have sound come out of only rear speakers? Heard this at a friend's house and you could turn the sound down and still hear it very well. Of course they were ceiling mounted, down firing. It was nice because others could still converse

- Answer You can turn on dual mode. It will play the audio from the front left and right speaker on the two rear speakers. I set dual mode on when I am watching YouTube videos.

QuestionIs this soundbar capable of passing through a full HDMI 2.1, 4k, 120hz, VRR signal?

- Answer It is not, unfortunately. You'll have to go through your TV if it supports eARC - if it doesn't support eARC, you'll only get lossy Dolby Atmos. My setup is as follows: Xbox Series X --HDMI2.1--> LG C1 TV --HDMI_eARC--> Vizio soundbar. This way I get everything - HDMI 2.1, 4K, 120Hz, VRR, ALLM, Dolby Vision, and lossless Dolby Atmos.

QuestionAre the rear speakers wired into the subwoofer or what are they wired to? Does this come with any stands? I see in the description it says hight adjustable....thanks for the help. Can you just run the soundbar and sub without the rears?

- Answer They are wired to the subwoofer and you get some hardware to mount on the wall but no stand. You can run without the speaker but you lose surround sound from any audio track from the media you are watching.

QuestionHow can I increase the sound of back left and right speakers. I can't hear them most of the time. I think I have the same problem with subwoofer too. At medium sound its not sounding much. Only when volume is very high that I can listen them better.

- Answer Using the sound bar remote, you will want to adjust the Surround Level and Surround Balance. For more details, the User Manual explains more in depth on page 19.

QuestionI bought your new m series 5.1.2 dolby atmos soundbar. I seen there is already a firmware update for it. Since it has no wifi can i upload the firmware update through bluetooth using the smart cast app or do i have to use a usb to upload the update?

QuestionWill this soundbarwork with my 2009 Vizio. I realize i wont get the full effect of Dolby Atmos since my tv is older and dont support it. Will it still hook up by using HDMI 3 and still work. My tv just has HDMI 1,2,3 and no ARC or EARC.

- Answer No you cannot get sound out of hdmi without Arc. Will will need to connected to one of the other inputs I.e. optical, etc.

- Answer If your TV supports Atmos, then you can use any hdmi on your tv but if only your fire stick supports it, then you’d need to plus in the fire stick directly to the sound bar hdmi and then out to the TVs hdmi to get the Atmos to your sound bar.

- Answer In VIZIO Sound Bar Systems the components are self-contained and balanced, so the wattage transmitted between each internal component is already configured to give you the maximum Sound Pressure Level. Additional speakers cannot be added.

QuestionHow does this system have 11 speakers? I only count eight, (1 each: left, right, and center; 2 up firing; 1 sub woofer, and 2 rear channel speakers).

- Answer While the number of channels can be an indicator to the minimum amount of speakers in the system, it is possible that more than one speaker can be dedicated to a channel. This sound bar model does absolutely have 11 speakers in total.

QuestionThe specs say that this sound bar can pass through a 4K signal but can it also pass through 4K HDR? My Samsung tv cannot decode DTS so I cannot use the arc feature. My setup will have to be Nvidia Shield > soundbar > tv and I need HDR pass through.
