Your TV will always automatically display the highest resolution possible that it gets from your source device (cable box, DVD player, gaming console, antenna) and how the content (TV shows, games, movies) is produced. To make sure you’re getting the most out of you VIZIO TV, we’d recommend making sure your devices are connected with an HDMI cable, and that you’re getting an HD (or UHD) signal.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think the resolution depends on what you have connected to the HDMI's. For example, my 4k UHD Blu-ray player always displays at 2160p at the top right corner, even if I play low resolution videos. My PS4Pro displays 2160p or 1080p depending on what I have the default display set to. I imagine a DVD player would show something lower than 1080p. Try streaming something like Youtube, Hulu, etc. to the tv to see if it displays a different resolution. If that doesn't work, try an update and see if that fixes it.
