QuestionDoes it have to be connected online when plugged into a router? Can it simply be used as an external HDD that multiple computers at home can use at the same time? Don't need it to constantly back-up my stuff.

- Answer yes. Once you share the files you want each user can access those files and even see them on your phone if you download the app. Each user can also have their own account.

- Answer Yes, as long as your employer does not block the western digital server. Most business with IT department would block the ability to send files to remote sites.

QuestionI have a Lima home cloud storage system with 4 TB drive...very recently was told Lima will be discontinuing its service (the app..????) , can I adapt the WD drive to your system??

- Answer Let depends on what you mean can you use this if you mean can you backup the original files from your old backup drive and have Western Digital read it no but you can get this backup and run our whole new backup of the existing data and then you will have both files old and new all you have to do is read download and open your old files put him in a folder and then backup to the new Western Digital drive that's it you're done

- Answer Yes, there are My Cloud forums that explain hot to connect to your computer directly but it is unclear to me if you'll get to share on line if it is connected directly to your computer. My best guess it that if it is connected directly to your computer it would then be like an external hard drive but I can't be 100% sure on that. Usually it connects directly to your router and you can connect it to your computer.
