Q: QuestionHome TheaterI'm buying two pair of these speakers for a home theater ins my living room. Should I get a center speaker? If yes, what is the distance between the two front and center assuming space is not a problem. Thank you.
Asked by and044.
- A:Answer You definitely want a center speaker, as it will allow you to hear the voices and talking clearer and at a good volume, and still hear your front and rear speakers, without having to turn the volume up louder to hear everything as well. They don't have to be any certain distance apart, but assuming your front speakers are approximately 12 feet apart or so, just center the speaker between them, maybe 6 feet apart. Center speaker makes all the difference, and you may want to get a sub woofer, to give you the feel of being in the movie with the base effects

Q: QuestionWe are currently building our home and want to make sure we get it all wired properly. If I want sound in various rooms, would it be reasonable to only put 1 speaker in the rooms, or will this not work, or sound right? Such as a bedroom or study.
Asked by NewHome.
- A:Answer The size of your rooms you want speakers in should determine how many you prewire for. Most speakers are mono, designed to work in pairs for stereo or in multiples for surround sound. There are single speakers that have dual voice coils meant to be used as a stereo speaker. They will require 2 sets of speaker wire ran to the speaker. I would recommend that in larger rooms, like bedrooms, office, or kitchen, that you should prewire the home for a pair of speakers to be used in stereo. It will provide the best sound. Be careful to consider furniture placement as well as in ceiling obstructions when doing the prewire. (I.e. Don't prewire your master bedroom with one speaker above the head of the bed and another at the foot. Like wise, don't prewire where your HVAC, plumbing, or even roof rafters will limit what kind of speaker, if any, can be installed in the ceiling). In the bathrooms I would wire for a single stereo speaker. 2 speakers tend to play against each other in small spaces and muddle the sound. Music is recorded in stereo (or better) so you shouldn't ever think of prewiring for less than stereo.

Q: QuestionMounting Brackets with Yamaha - 8" 3-Way In-Ceiling Speakers (Pair) - Model: NS-IW480CW?Does the Yamaha - 8" 3-Way In-Ceiling Speakers - Model: NS-IW480CW have some way to mount in ceiling panels? No details are provided.
Asked by Agenda Buster.
- A:Answer These speakers are designed to mounted inside drywall, there are 4 little anchor clamps, similar to those used to install retro electrical boxes or mud rings. I personally would not feel comfortable installing these in ceiling tiles, the speakers are probably weigh 5 o 6 pounds each and given how soft ceiling tiles can be, I don't think you could get a good enough connection to securely hold the in place. With that being said, if you want to put a board up behind the ceiling tile to carry the wight of the speaker, there is enough room for the bracket to fit into over an inch of material, the instructions don't see anything about it, so you would be on your own to figure out how to do it, but with the proper backing behind a ceiling tiles, these speakers will work and they sound good, especially for the price.

Q: QuestionCan I use this 6 speakers with Insignia Bluetooth receiver model NS-STR514? Thanks
Asked by Sandeep.
- A:Answer No reason why not...providing that you mean 2 of them and not 6. I believe the model that you have mentioned is a stereo unit. I have an Onkyo 5030 or whatever 2 channel hooked up to a pair being used in series with a second zone amplifier to do multiple rooms.

Q: Questionwhat size diameter hole do you need to cut into drywall? I have speaker rings that are 9 1/4 inch diameter already in ceiling will that work ?
Asked by speaker install.
- A:Answer Typically the frame for a speaker is about a 3/8"-1/2" larger all the way around. Speaker size does not include the frame. At 9.25" your hole is substantially larger than needed for these. I don't know of anyone making an "adapter" for this type of application. Have you considered patching a 1ft square of drywall & re-doing the hole?
