    A must-have for PCs

I have been using Norton software products for more than a decade and heavily rely on it to not only maintain the security of all my PCs, laptops, phones, etc. but to also keep my operating systems in tip top performance. In all of the time I have owned their software, I have NEVER got any viruses or malware on my computers, at least not that I’m aware of :\, as the Norton software is constantly fighting that battle in the background while I’m on the computer and/or while it’s in idle. The software has, however, caught viruses and malware that has tried to breach my computers, including trojan horse style viruses. The software can inform you in real time when there is another source trying to breach your system or if a download appears suspicious. One of the best features of the Norton Utilities that I have always recommended to anyone with a computer or laptop is ensuring the registry and drivers are all up to date. Typically, when I work on someone’s computer that they say is running slow or having issues, it always seems to be because they haven’t been updating the software and drivers. Norton Utilities takes the work out of this by checking it periodically in the background and you can schedule it to perform the checks when you’re not using your computer. I have tried other products in the past and bottom line is they just don’t compare to everything you will get with Norton Utilities Ultimate and it’s well worth every penny to protect those expensive devices and keep them running great.

Security software - doesn't play well with Macs

In our tech-based world, keep data secure is a top priority. While I am usually using a Mac with Microsoft Defender (through M365 Enterprise), I thought I would see what else is out there. The Norton 360 software is fairly straightforward and easy to use -- that is, once you've gotten through all the installation requirements and quite a few bugs. I'm running a 16" MacBook Pro M1 Max with 32GB of RAM and 1TB SSD. Norton installation did not go as easily as I would expect. Norton offers the same coverage as many other device protection packages - device security, dark web monitoring, a not-as-good-as-Apple's password management module, cloud backup, and VPN services. While the Norton software itself is pretty easy to use, I was disappointed in the effect the software had on performance on my MacBook. Not only did it slow things down, more lockups and jammed up rainbow "thinking" circles happened than ever before once this software was installed. I was unable to get the "Quick Scan" to successfully complete without the software locking up. Overall, I think - at least for Mac users - there are other options that may be better suited. I only have one license so I wasn't able to install it on my Windows 11 Pro machine; I expect performance to be much better with Windows. So, all in all, I give Norton 360 3 stars - it's good, but not great (at least for my use case). I would be willing to try this on a PC to see if I had the same issues, but for my Mac - it's a no.

Great product at reasonable price. Easy set-up and can disable the auto renewal on line so can get a price deal at non-Norton site.

I have stayed away from Norton for many years but needed a new VPN and decided to try Norton 360 standard. Many of the installed tools offered by Norton 360 standard I run as different, stand-alone programs (i.e. a different antivirus, a different malware, a different registry cleaner, etc.) but was pleased to see that the Norton tools are both effective and accurate and require less upkeep (i.e. updating) than my old tools. Consequently, if you can get product on sale, even better as the included tools are worth the subscription. The other service that helps make this product worth considering is the dark web monitoring. Assuming you don't know how to monitor the dark web yourself, the Norton product will let you know both if your data as likely involved in a retail breach (i.e. Target) or if your email address, password, etc. was found on any lists on the dark web. Again, I had another tool I would run *manually* from time to time to search for myself on the dark web, but Norton lets me search multiple emails (5, I believe) which covers my multiple, critical email accounts. Additionally, you can input other info such as your credit card, bank, postal address, DoB, etc. and it can search for even more of your stuff on the dark web. While I am nervous about punching all that data into Norton's website, if you have reason to fear your data has been compromised, the Norton tool makes confirming your suspicion really easy! There is also a password manager and cloud backup storage--both tools EVERYONE should be taking advantage of either through Norton or another service. Nonetheless, Norton makes it all very easy to set-up and maintain. The password manager runs as an app on a mobile device or as an extension on a desktop browser. Once the extension is running Norton will offer to store passwords for you or suggest strong passwords or point out your weak passwords. You can also store notes, addresses and credit cards safely in the password manager vault. Like any password manager, you set a STRONG ***MUST ALWAYS REMEMBER*** password to gain access to your stored data or to successfully run the extension. All-in-all, from someone who grew to hate Norton 15 years ago, I am happy I gave them another try. This 360 standard bundle is worth it.

I have tried a few different programs to secure my decices over the years. I am embarrased to say that I actually did not have anything on my one computer when I decided to put the Norton 360 Standard and Utilities Ultimate on it. I was having a huge issue with one of my programs so I removed everything and I never put anything back on there. I was lucky that nothing ever happended and now I am protected by Norton 360. I am using the Norton 360 and Norton Utilities Ultimate on a Dell all in One Computer. I have to say that this is by far one of the best layers of protections I feel that I have had thus far. Features: Norton 360 It is scanning for informaiton on the Dark Web It is monitoring my webcam Monitoring for malware, spyware, viruses and more Automatic PC cloud backup Secure VPN browising Includes a password manager 100% money back guarantee if they don't keep your devices virus free Norton Utilities Ultimate Cleans out junk files, browsing data and frees up space Once click - clean up and help speed up your PC and fix issues that cause slow downs and crashes Tye DriveScrubber helps you permanently erase sensitive data on your hard drive The File Shredder helps get rid of documets for good. preventing others access to them. Registry Cleanup helps clean up disk space by removing obsolete data. Super Control Panel provides you access to hidden Windows so you can customize to meet your needs. This is a geat program at a great price. I would definitly recommend it to friends and family.

I've used various Norton products at different times over the years and find them to be reliable. This antivirus and computer management software does a lot of different things, with no noticeable slowdown. This was an easy install because the install files were downloaded right from the internet, no discs required. You can purchase a version with an install disc if that's your preference. Norton 360 is the antivirus part, it has antivirus, a system updater, VPN, password manager, cloud backup, dark web monitoring and even parental controls for those with kids. It can be used on Windows, Android and Apple products. This version is for one device only, but they have software that will cover varying numbers of devices, for families, businesses, etc. Also included is Norton Utilities Ultimate, which is basically a disk management system that cleans your computer, removes unwanted startup programs and keeps everything running smoothly. You can set scans to run automatically at certain intervals or just do it manually. It will auto-update as long as you're connected to the internet, so no need to worry about having to remember to do it. The program defaults to auto-renewing after a year. You can go into your Norton account and turn that off, if you don't want it to renew automatically.

Pros: Auto-protection for devices. Multiple scanning features which include custom options. Ultimate Utilities makes it easy to improve PC performance. VPN can be automatically enabled. Password Manager with password generator Smart Firewall warns of unauthorized traffic and connections. Software Update makes it easy to update your apps in one place. Cons: Subscription costs $84.99 after the first year. Cloud Backup is only 10GB of storage. Some features require additional payment/subscription. Administration between the desktop apps and the Norton website might be too much for some. Some Ultimate Utilities options are just links to Administrative Tools built in Windows 10. Internet Security and Password Manager are just web-browser add-ins. Power Eraser is an aggressive scanner which could remove legitimate programs/files if you’re not careful. This review was done on a Windows 10 laptop; not tested with Mac or any mobile devices. Norton 360 Standard costs $39.99 (as of this review) for the first year then goes up to $84.99 after. You create an account and enter in your product key to download the software. The download page was clean and quite easy to navigate, with Norton 360 and Ultimate Utilities. I had no issues with downloading either product using Microsoft Edge. Initial setup for this could be overwhelming for users who aren’t technically inclined. In addition to the desktop apps, you have more options that you can set up on Norton’s website under your profile. I could see some users being confused about where to go for certain features and they’re not all in the same place. Norton 360 Standard and Ultimate Utilities is a subscription-based service from Norton that allows you to protect your PC in multiple ways. First, it is just like Norton of the older days, where you get software to keep your PC free from viruses and spyware. Norton 360 has auto-protection for Windows which means that this is constantly protecting your PC without having to run manual scans. There are a variety of scanning options and tasks, including quick, full, custom, a Power Eraser for difficult to detect threats, and even a diagnostic report to run on your PC. Most users will stick with a Quick or Full Scan since it’s the been the norm for so many years. Tech savvy users will get more use out of the Custom Scans and Tasks, so your mileage on these options may vary. The Diagnostic Report is a great tool that runs a check of your PC and points out any issues you might have. Norton 360 includes two other features that you might find useful; Software Updater and Dark Web Monitoring. Software Updater is a convenient feature that allows you to update multiple applications at once. Although not crucial to updating software, this will save you time from manually opening each application to get updates. This feature works well, and I had no issues with it failing to update applications. Dark Web Monitoring’s View Alerts button will take you to your Norton profile via web browser to display if your information has been leaked across websites. To have this actively monitored, you need to enter a lot of personal information that you may not feel comfortable entering. I get that’s the only way they can monitor this, but I feel conflicted with a “what if” scenario of Norton’s servers being hacked, and your personal information being leaked. People may feel uncomfortable entering the information Norton’s asking to be protected. Norton also states on the site that Norton does not monitor as many types of personal information which require the Advantage or Ultimate Plus plan. Ultimate Utilities has some particularly useful options such as All-in-one PC cleanup, Windows, and Registry cleanup. This tool starts with a Dashboard and shows a colored gauge with how your PC is doing. You can run multiple scans to clean up things like broken shortcuts, temporary internet files, and even some cache files for programs like Outlook. Speaking of Outlook, this also includes an Outlook add-in to mark email as Spam. This is not necessary though, considering that most email clients already have anti-spam options in place to make messages as spam. This tool has a lot of features which I won’t go into and some of the options just link to the built in Administrative Tools built into Windows 10. This is nice if you don’t know where to go, but if you’re tech savvy, you know where to check in Windows for some of these features. Depending on some options you keep selected and run, you could delete files you may still need. Internet Security and Password Manager features that also come with this subscription and software. They are both browser add-ins and are not separate desktop apps. Some password managers out there also have a browser add-in, so this isn’t much different than what’s already out there. Internet Security alerts you of suspicious websites and activity, which some modern browsers already have built in. I have not installed these because I use other applications for my password tracking. There are some features that require you to pay more in addition to your subscription. AntiTrack, which blocks trackers from following you online costs $39.99 for the remainder of your subscription then it’s $3.33/month. Computer Tune Up will cost you $49.99/service, which seems like overkill considering that you also have the Ultimate Utilities. The benefit of this is that you get personalized service, but you could save some money asking a family member for help. Then there’s the Ultimate Help Desk, which costs $69.99/service. This is more of a personalized help desk for you to call with multiple issues, which could be great if you need it. I don't feel a need to purchase any of these products since I wouldn’t use them. Adding these services on top of your subscription could be extremely pricey. This also includes a cloud backup, but due to the low storage capacity, I have not used or enabled it. 10GB is great if you don’t have a lot of files or another cloud storage to backup to but I already have one and don’t need this feature. I do recommend this product; however, I don’t believe that I will be renewing my subscription after the year is up. At $84.99 after the first year, this is a little too much for software that I don’t absolutely need on my PC. I would rather save the money for something else.

Norton antivirus software has been around since what feels like the beginning of the internet, and Norton’s 360 Standard software once again delivers. This particular package includes a one year subscription, with Norton Utilities Ultimate, for one device, with auto renewal (more on this in a moment). Very easy to install, when you buy this software, you will get an email with a code, log onto Norton‘s website, redeem the code, download the software, and you’re basically ready to go, you will have to create an account if you haven’t done so already. Everything was pretty easy and straightforward, you can choose what to download and what options to have on etc. When I first got my code, I wasn’t crazy about the auto renewal, I was hoping there was a way to not have to agree to it, and at least with my experience I was able to continue without updating my credit card with them. I guess I just don’t like auto renewals because I don’t know where I’m going to be in one year, I didn’t want to get charged for another year and then have to call them to get a refund etc, so that was not a problem for me. This software has it all, Dark Web monitoring, Secure VPN, 10GB of secure PC Cloud Backup, and more, you can choose what to have on what to have off. For example a soon as I downloaded the software I did a quick scan on my PC for viruses, everything came back with great results, when software directed me to stay secure from the Dark Web, it was asking me for my bank account info, creditcard info and sensitive info like that to see if anything negative would come up on the Dark Web, I wasn’t ready to do all that so I just haven’t turned off for now.
