I was honestly a little surprised at how well this system performed. I have a Dell G15 that’s about a year old and quickly have moved to using this laptop almost exclusively. The screen has a depth of color that’s richer than my other and the overall thermals seem to be better managed as I notice that the fans don’t spin up nearly as high when playing the same game. I can’t speak to battery life but would assume it’s similar to most in that it gets you by but won’t last for an entire day of meetings or such. Performance wise I enjoyed the 4060 as it’s plenty powerful for the resolution of the screen. I ran it through its paces through several of my games and experienced no issues and was able to run most settings on high for things like Apex Legends and Helldivers2. Overall impressions is that the case is fairly plastic based. You can tell the difference between the Nitro and the Helios but the matte black appearance keeps it fairly low key. There’s no mistaking it as anything other than a gaming laptop but it’s a nicely put together piece of kit and everything appears well made. I didn’t notice any huge amounts of flexing of parts. As most laptops there was one hot spot of backlight bleed near the bottom edge but that’s generally always the case with systems securing their screen to such a small bezel. I never noticed it outside of a completely black screen. Touch pad is super responsive and I was able to easily play something like Night Crows without feeling like I was hampered without a mouse.

    Decent Bang For Your Buck!

The Acer Nitro V ANV15-51-789J Laptop is a solid choice for gamers seeking an affordable option with decent build quality. Despite its mostly plastic case, it feels sturdy, though the smooth finish on top can be a bit sharp. The laptop felt substantial but not overly heavy. The screen was a highlight for me, but only for gaming, thanks to its fantastic refresh rate. It's worth noting that text can appear blurry for other tasks besides gaming. On the audio front, the laptop delivers impressive sound quality for its mid-range status, although I personally prefer using headphones for a more immersive experience. In terms of gaming performance, Dead Space looked impressive on the IPS screen, with darks remaining detailed and not overly crushed. While navigating the system, there were occasional hiccups, but gameplay in Madden was smooth with good player control. Connecting external displays can be hit or miss, particularly with Thunderbolt displays on Intel systems. While I was unable to connect to an LG 5K Thunderbolt Display, HDMI connections to 4K displays produced fantastic results. Performance-wise, the laptop delivers solid results, scoring well on benchmarks. The Nova Bench score of 3197 places it among the top 93% of PCs, while the Nero score of 3831 further shows its a decent bang for the buck, but isn't a rig that you're going to brag to your friends about. Overall, the Acer Nitro V ANV15-51-789J offers decent gaming performance and build quality at an accessible price point, making it a compelling choice for gamers on a budget.

For the price, the machine is unbeatable. A 13th gen 17 with a 4060 and 16 GB ram for under $1000? The screen is really nice as well. Heard some complaints in reviews that the color accuracy is not perfect but I don't care - looks good to me. I don't game, I podcast and this destroys even the most difficult video productions applications. Very happy with my purchase.

Strong gaming package at good value

Verdict: The Acer Nitro V 15 Laptop is a solid laptop at great value. I love the minimalist and discreet approach to the design, and I am very happy with the specs. In the end, it delivers just what you need for strong everyday performance for work, personal use, and gaming. First Impressions. It’s a simple looking laptop, with just one logo on the cover. There are no awkward bump-outs behind the screen, so it takes up less space for transport. The laptop provides good ventilation for cooling. The keyboard is comfortable with nice key action. The touchpad is large and responsive. Speakers are decent; I would say louder than most normal laptop, but average for a gaming laptop. Setup was smooth, as expected for Microsoft Windows. Specs. The individual specs for this computer are good. Put together in this package, they come together very nicely. While 512GB of storage is not that much to download games, the SSD drive provide snappy startups and very fast operation. 16GB of RAM is great for a normal laptop, and probably the minimum for a gaming laptop. The RTX 4060 delivers good gaming performance and quality rendering at 1080p (and up to 1440p), with a dedicated 8GB of VRAM at 1080p. Most importantly, it’s great for laptop gaming because it gives you performance at less power requirements for when you are not plugged in. The full-HD 15.6” screen with 144hz refresh, and almost no bezel is vibrant and exciting for gaming and watching content. Finally, the Intel Core i7 (13th Gen) processor is a fantastic CPU for reliability and performance. This is a solid package. Performance. This laptop easily handles day-to-day applications, multitasking, endless browser tabs, and graphics-heavy software. For gaming, performance is great at 1080p, being able to run on ultra settings for most games, and still get upwards of 60 fps (with DLSS and ray tracing off). I am playing the new Forza Motorsport these days and getting above 100 fps. I am quite happy with this card, especially on a laptop and on this full-HD screen. Things I love: - It comes with a nice, custom fitted pouch!! Thank you! I love it. - Strong package of specs at a good value - 16GB of DDR5 RAM is good (and necessary for gaming) - Great refresh rate for responsive gameplay visuals - Solid and consistent gaming performance at 1080p on highest settings - NitroSense is great to keep track of CPU and GPU temperatures, and to adjust fan speed - Having the headset jack next to a USB port is a nice idea so that you can plug headsets on the same side, no matter the connection it uses Things I didn’t love: - I would have preferred 2x USB ports (instead of 3) and 2x USB-C ports (instead of only 1). Overall, the Acer Nitro V 15 Laptop is a solid performer, with strong specs and good value. I am very happy with this laptop for everyday use, as well as for gaming at home and on the road. I highly recommend this laptop.

Budget Gaming Laptop that hits 150fps?!

The Acer Nitro V 15.6” gaming laptop is a solid entry-mid level gaming laptop choice. Nothing about it is spectacular, but everything is good enough or better. For the price point you are getting great 1080p performance, excellent specs across all performance components such as an i7 processor, 16gb of RAM, and a Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU. While it’s not as pretty as other gaming laptops, it’s cheaper than others! You can definitely save some money with this computer if you don’t care about aesthetics. And a fun little surprise of including a laptop sleeve in the box! What matters most about a gaming laptop is performance and this easily chews through your favorite games at 1080p. Below you’ll find some of the FPS averages (rounded down) I was getting in popular games I tested on here. Cyberpunk 2077: High Settings - 70fps Alan Wake 2: Medium Settings - 60fps Lies of P: High Settings - 120fps Diablo IV: Ultra Settings - 150fps As you can see, this computer handles most things you throw at it with ease. It’s the more intensive games, like Alan Wake 2, where you start to approach the constraints of the device. Anything that’s simpler than big AAA games like Cyberpunk and Alan Wake reaches excellent performance. Games like Lies of P or Diablo IV really allow this computer to shine as this laptop has a 144hz refresh rate display. Unfortunately, while the display is fast, the display colors and fidelity are pretty lacking. If you have a decent gaming monitor, it will make the most sense to hook it up to that instead. My last gripe is that 512GB is just not enough these days for gaming computers. Those four games are about 350GB and Windows 11 takes up another 30GB so you run into storage limitations immediately. Luckily though, there are two SSD slots inside so you can get some actual storage. Ultimately though, this computer is excellent where it counts. Gaming performance. I was not expecting to see the above frame rate numbers so I was pleasantly surprised. I would easily recommend this to anyone in the market for an entry-level gaming laptop. It’s got everything you need to get up and gaming with excellent performance. Pros: Great price point Excellent 1080p performance i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, & 4060 GPU make for a great portable, economical gaming laptop Extra SSD slot which is needed Comes with a free sleeve! Cons: Bulky with average build quality Bloatware that needs deleting Not the prettiest casing Fans are LOUD 512GB just isn’t enough for modern games Would recommend using a monitor as the built in one is not very pretty

Starts out with fans pretty loud, but that’s normal for gaming laptops. Fans toned down significantly before starting COD Warzone. I’ll start out with some specs during gameplay. Started out in Performance mode/overclocking with fans on auto. Was getting 144 to 145 FPS very consistently, lowest I was seeing was around 125-134 FPS and for onkly milliseconds. Normal to bounce around. Packet loss 10%. GPU running steadily around 69-71 C, but by the end of gameplay running around 80 C. Fan very tolerable during gameplay especially because I’ll generally be using headphones anyway. Latency at 75 MS. RAM running at 80% , GPU usage 83%, CPU 6% usage, CPU temp 70 C. Ran COD with Normal gameplay and auto fan. Fan noise is slightly better but even so, very tolerable, don’t even notice it. Had to really pay attention to catch the difference. Graphics running at 85-100 FPS consistently, GPU usage 69%, Latency 30-32 MS, PACKET LOSS 0%, GPU 71 C, GPU 75C, CPU USAGE 7%, CPU 70C, SYTSTEM 57C, RAM USAGE 76%. No ghosting noticeable in either mode. Very noticeable difference in performance from performance mode, to normal , but again, the numbers above support that, and it’s to be expected. I wanted this laptop to play my steam library when traveling for work, and this does not disappoint for performance. Since I never have much time to play on the road, I’ll probably continue to overclock during gameplay. My desktop at home ,I would never do that. Construction is lacking, but get’s the job done. Just need to keep my butter fingers from dropping it. Case is all plastic except behind the monitor . In all honestly, it’s kind of nice to not have to lug around a big steel metal of a monster, laptop. Everything about the RAM, hard-drive size, and case material, are where I would expect them to be for this price point. 16GB RAM , running Windows 11- 64 bit, 475 GB SSD hard-drive, (3) USB-A ports, (1) USC-C port, (1) HDMI port. Not a fan of Windows 11 but that’s a me problem, nothing to do with the laptop. All in all I’m very happy with it so far. I would recommend to anyone looking for a mobile PC gaming option ,that won’t break the bank. It’s really performed outstanding so far. Nice laptop that I hope continues to perform at this level!

I've owned an Acer Nitro from a couple years back as well as other brands of "gaming" laptops. But this newer one is even better in my opinion! Still relatively slim and light compared to other bulky gaming laptops. Clean lines with a nice feeling keyboard surface (not too wide and offset like some that include the number pad which is a little narrower than most) and a good size trackpad. Display is large, sharp and bright. Feels a touch thinner and lighter than some other gaming laptops with similar specs. Gaming has been very fast again, and benchmarks and actual gameplay even a little more smooth with great rendering. Excellent for my Solidworks and Draftsight engineering apps as well. Speakers are really loud and rich so no matter what you are doing, it all just works and sounds great. Battery life has only been through two cycles so far, but for my use I was getting over 6 hours each time which I think is great. Lots of ports again in this years model so very easy to hook up a drive or any other peripheral. Bluetooth has worked fine without bugginess like some computers and the WiFi 6 in this laptop has been fast on my home mesh network in a few room locations. 16gb RAM and 515gb storage is adequate for sure, but this machine does have empty banks for more RAM and storage so it is easy to upgrade if desired. Again, great value for what you get and can play games flawlessly!

I have had a chance to play around with this laptop and I must say it does performs quite well. The 15.6" HD screen has great graphics, color and 144Hz refresh rate provide for great gaming. The screen looks great it has minimal trailing/ghosting due to the 144Hz rate. The i7 processor allows for decent multi-tasking without any glitches. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 does a good job playing COD and MW with a fast refresh rate. The included 16GB DDR5 is pretty standard nowadays but it gets the job done. A downside is that it does not have an available slot for a memory upgrade. If you want to upgrade the ram, you have to replace a memory stick and if you want to upgrade properly you need to upgrade in pairs so you would need to buy two memory sticks. The NitroSense feature is a nice way to setup your gaming setting and pc settings in order to get the ebst gameplay. The sound was ok, I wish it were a little louder but I hook up my laptop to a speaker so it isn't much of an issue. The laptop is a little heavy for transportability but it is a nice gaming machine. It's a wonderful machine.

I can confidently say that I put this thing through its paces recently and I’ve been pleasantly surprised with it’s performance, especially at this price point. Everything about this laptop exceeded my expectations while in use and gaming. The screen performed perfectly and you can tell that refresh rate is FAST on this machine! The processor and graphics card are simply the best you can get! Great colors, with both light colors and blacks. This has become my new primary gaming laptop and frankly, I was surprised with that. My “old” system was perfectly capable and really not that old and I “thought” it was about as good as I could get… Well I was wrong, and I haven’t touched my old setup since I got this and I couldn’t be happier! I connected it via HDMI to my external screen and had 0 issues and it performed flawlessly as I expected. I’ve played about every game I could on this thing and haven't had any issues at all. I like the feel of the case and don’t mind the plastic at all. Feels light weight into carry and I truly think that this laptop is the best laptop you can get for gaming, it’s definitely the best bang for your buck. I HIGHLY recommend this laptop!
