This laptop is a beast! Going on about a month of heavy gaming. Haven’t had any issues. Handles everything I throw at it on high/ultra settings no problem. A lot of reviews say fan noise is loud but it’s not that bad at all. Sounds like a ps4 to be honest. I threw a $10 cooling fan base from Amazon underneath and worked like a charm. Only downside would maybe be the ports. Kinda limited but can be easily worked around. Screen is amazing. Great color and brightness. Battery life is good. Hands down a great desktop replacement laptop. Extremely happy with it. At this price point running with a 3070ti and I7 12th gen really can’t beat it.

Performance and Elegance, a rare find

Easily a solid 5-star hardcore gaming notebook for its performance, quality, amazing fast & color rich display, feature set, and it’s elegant industrial design with a minimalist feel, without an obnoxious large logo, AND the design include a slight gaming accent. The overall look turned heads on the first day that I used it. HOWEVER, I did really really really want to give it a one star thanks to THE friendly but “less” experienced post-Covid sales that seems to be at a lower caliber in terms of knowledge (maybe he was a new hire?). I come from 2 Asus Zephyrus G14 (2020 & 2022) in the recent past for work, and I mainly play on my desktop 2080. I love Asus. These G14 are great for what they are (Clean understated look, thin, good quality, and the 2020 model was very affordable). I did have regrets buying the 2022 Zephyrus G14 model, as my 2022 G14’s skin and KB temp is very uncomfortable. These G14 form factor wasn’t designed for performance, but I accepted that when I bought them. Life changes though. Here comes this Helios 300, full power with 150W of MGP, a real PCIe Gen 4 SSD, with Crystal Diskmark seq read speed that runs close to TWICE the Speed as my 2022 Zephyrus G14 (To the Best Buy Sales Staff that tried to sell us the Sword to my friend, please don’t just regurgitate the fact tag, you almost misled my friend into buying a “RTX3060” Sword over the Helios 300 w/ RTX3060, AND you couldn’t tell the differences between perf/MGP, DDR4 vs 5, refresh rates, and AO/DDS vs MUX vs none. To Acer, you probably should try to tell the world what you packed into the system. I like to see you stick around. But, for now, I feel lucky that I found you. Yes, I was happy with the MUX that Asus gave me, but thank you for DDS. See, with manual MUX, if you forget to switch and reboot, your battery life is not going to be good. And this stupidity only happens when you are out on important meeting, and you forget to bring your brick. Oh, and yes, I felt stupid. This particular Predator is a hidden gem (3070Ti and 3060). My friend’s Helios 3060 from Best Buy easily outperformed some of the lower wattage RTX3070 that you get from Amazon (I have friends that want cheap). If you are not a hardcore gamer AND have never tried this Predator, you would not have known all the performance, features, and quality that this guy packed. Maybe because of the number of professional reviews on this 2022 Predator is very scarce. But, for sure, I’m super pleased with the performance that I got from this notebook, thank you Best Buy. Note: Mine has Per Key RGB, and my friends 3060 only has Zone RGB, and the display is different. Although both has G-Sync for its internal display (better than FreeSync that supports a wider fluctuation of frame rates), my 3070 Ti has 240Hz. My friends 3060 supports 140W MGP, which is 10 watts higher than the max 2021 RTX3060. The sleeve is nice with a good feel and leans towards form fitting (you have your own preference). The audio port, like most gaming notebooks, is on the right location, which is on the left. I’m very pleased with the abundant IO ports, and happy to see that the RJ45 is also on the left, and key IO ports is on the rear (I’m a righty). There’s a RGB strip on the front for mood light which is programable, and a nice touch. Turbo Key can be loud (fan). Suggest that you use the Predator sense key and use the “Extreme” or “Default” mode instead of Turbo for regular work hours, and Quiet Mode for meetings. I have an open back Sennheiser. I recommend close back headset, not for the fan noise when I Turbo, but mainly to avoid hearing my wife complaining about me playing games 5 in the morning. All joking aside, I have no issues with the fan sound. Lastly, the rear vent color is far more subtle than what's shown online. It's color shifting which is mesmerizing. I love it. It's there if you see it, but majority of time, it just blends right in as it's mostly hidden. Really cool.

I stepped into the gaming laptop world and I tried the Legion 5 pro, rog zepyrus 16, omen 16, and the tuf dash 15. They all had something about them i didnt like. I came across this on a deal of the day for 1399 and had to try it. This ones a keeper. I added a 1tb ssd, and upgraded the ram to 32gb (16x2) and this thing is a beast. The fan can get loud at high settings but for 200+ fps im all in.

This gaming laptop is almost phenomenal for the price! For the 2,000$ price tag it works and runs most games such as call of duty and overwatch just fine but I do notice when it gets hot is starts to lag and this laptop can get very hot so I’d recommend a cooking system of some type.

This laptop has been nothing but excellent. It has the full powered variant of the 3070ti, and performance is excellent in games. Screen is bright and runs as advertized with 240hz and great color gamut. Computer fans can run loud, and headphones are preferred, but this is a good and necessary tradeoff for the performance.

I’ve been using the laptop for 6 months now. I have to say the performance is top notch. The heat management is really good, even during extensive gaming the laptop doesn’t seem to have any trouble maintaining the cooling. Only drawback I would say is the sound from exhausts, the cooling system is too loud. So a good pair of earphones or headset is recommended.

I was in serach for a powerful gaming laptop for my gaming needs and be avle to render wngineering software like CAD, Ansys and sokidworks for my work. I picked this up for 1300 USD and i have to admit that this was the best of the bunch! Only downsides are the heavy weight (5.7lbs for laptop alone and 7.1lbs with charger combined) and loud fan bouse in extreme and turbo modes but it’s a trade off for best cooling you can get. Other than that, you cant beat how good this laptop is!

I bought this for my daughter and she loves it! It's a very sleek, and stealthy looking laptop. It works perfectly for gaming as well as for her academics! It has a customizable keyboard to light up in any color you want, as well as different ways the keyboard can light up! The computer does get a bit warm playing certain games, but it seems to regulate itself back out which is nice! This computer is a beast, and I would highly recommend this to anyone who is interested in a high end gaming laptop! Completely worth the money, and it even comes with stickers! The only complaint I have is the battery life I understand it's a gaming computer and they usually have shorter life spans, but my daughter said it would be nice if the laptop didn't need to be plugged in less than two hours of being in use (starting at a full charge).

Look, you've stalked Wirecutter, you waited for the sale, you've watched an embarrassing amount of Youtube reviews, and you stacked these specs against others on a comparison website, right? You will not regret this purchase. It is solid. I paid $1,299. I am posting this review to enter a sweepstakes but i could have posted a bad review to do so. For me, it's a surprisingly big upgrade in technology from my 2019 Predator (which was good at the time, and aged great even with daily heavy use, and I'm going to continue using it). I paid the same price as I paid for the old one in 2019 but the tech is way more impressive than I expected. Incredible, vivid graphics. I was accustomed to 4K on the old one, and had no complaints with the 4K. Every page leaps instantly, and i had no complaints with loading on the old one. It can play any game and I don't have to worry about disk space. You will need a heatsink mat. This wont go on your lap easily for long periods. I play late at night so dont care about fane noise. Its not bad. Sure, I dreamt that mayyybe I could have spent another $2,200 or even $3,500 for something truly cutting edge.... but that's ridiculous. This is the luxury Audi you want to drive everyday. Dreaming about a Lamborghini doesn't make sense, I wouldn't even know how to properly drive it, right? This is the everyday gaming upgrade for you. No regrets.

I recently purchased the Acer Predator Helios 300, and I am incredibly pleased with the purchase. This laptop is packed with features that make it perfect for gaming. The 15.6" QHD display is crisp and clear, and the 240Hz refresh rate provides a smooth and immersive gaming experience. The Intel Core i7 processor and 16GB of DDR5 RAM make this laptop fast and powerful, and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics card ensures high-end gaming performance. Since this is a gaming laptop, you should not expect excellent battery life. This is an excellent gaming laptop, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a high-end gaming experience.

The new 2022 Acer Predator Helios 300 is a gaming animal. Equipped with the Intel 12700H alder lake processor and a NVIDIA RTX3070Ti it pounds out the FPS on its 240hz QHD panel. This laptop can replace or match most desktop gaming systems. If you pair it with a larger monitor you can use it as your main gaming rig. This laptop handles Video rendering extremely well. The monitor has excellent color rendering. The brightness is good in most lighting but is a little dim for outdoor use in sunlight. This laptop runs current games at their highest settings with good frame rates at or near the top of the pack compared to its more expensive competitors. At this price point it is the best. The laptop case has been redesigned to remove the sharp edges found on last year's model. The metal keyboard and better monitor hinges give the laptop a very sturdy feel. The keyboard has better mini LED lighting and the keys have a good tactile feel. I found the keyboard easy to type on and game. The trackpad is better than last year's model and has good responsiveness. Right and left clicks are well defined and function well. The 16 gb of DDR 5 memory and 1 TB SSD give you plenty of space and speed for gaming or advanced video or image editing. You can add a second SSD and run them in Raid 0 for very fast read and write speeds. Although this laptop comes with a 90WH battery it is power hungry if you use the NVIDIA RTX 3070Ti, The battery will only last about 2-3H; you will want to use the humongous 280 w power brick while gaming or doing intense video work. The intel graphics can be used for web browsing and watching video and will last much longer around 7 hours. The 240 Hz display is very good, colors are rich and vibrant. The color gamut is very wide and it is one of the best color renditions I have seen on a laptop. For best results you will have to calibrate it for professional color grading work. Acer has used liquid metal on the CPU and GPU along with fans that can spin up to provide excellent cooling. On the higher modes they sound like a hurricane so you will want to use headphones while gaming. The connectivity is great. There are (3) 3.2 USB A ports one on the left and 2 on the right edge. The right edge has a headphone jack and an Ethernet port. The rear has 1 power port, 1 mini display port, 1 HDMI port and 1 USB C thunderbolt port. The extra monitor ports are great for multi-monitor setups or just using a larger/better monitor. The WiFi 6e provides fast connectivity as long as your WiFi router supports this. Acer includes DTS X Ultra which allows 360 surround sound. The laptop speakers are on the bottom and provide just ok sound. External speakers or headphones will perform better. Overall this laptop is the best gaming value on the market. At the current price you get great value, competitors are selling for much higher prices and most have worse performance.
