I love this laptop. Great for gaming and everything else. Beautiful design. It is quite heavy as expected but I view it as a desktop I can move around with ease. Battery life isn't the greatest but I keep it plugged it all the time so it doesn't phase me.

I was able to get this laptop as open box excellent for a pretty fair price. On the bottom there is a scuff but nothing major, overall the laptop appears brand new. I only needed to wipe off a few finger prints on the screen and keyboard. Out of the box I was concerned with the thermals while gaming. I was easily reaching temps of 95-100C. I purchased a stand that raises my laptop to allow more airflow. I also decided to change my TCC Offset value to 10 in the BIOS which sets the CPU max temp to 90C. I wish the thermals were better but apparently this is known/expected with the x17 R2 & i9-12900H. I made sure to add a 24 month protection plan for this device just in case. I'm using this as a desktop replacement and I'm hoping it will last for a long time. Overall I'm satisfied and I'm looking forward to maxing out the rest of the specs over time. Pros Great open box price. 17 inch UHD 120hz 4K screen looks great. RTX 3080 16GB VRAM handles games with ease. GPU allows overclocking. Cons Intel i9-12900H, "H" model does not allow CPU overclocking. Intel i9-12900H temperatures can reach 100C. Battery life is below average but expected.

I’ve been using the Alienware x17 R2 for some time now, and it has been nothing short of amazing. Whether I’m coding as a software engineer, gaming, or even taking online courses, this laptop handles it all effortlessly. The Intel Core i9 processor combined with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 delivers powerhouse performance, making multitasking smooth and gaming incredibly immersive with the 17.3" UHD 120Hz display. The 32GB of memory and 1TB SSD ensure that everything runs fast and fluid, with plenty of space for my work projects and games. The design is sleek with the Lunar Light color, and it just feels premium. In short, this laptop is worth every penny if you need a reliable machine for professional work, gaming, and education. Alienware has truly knocked it out of the park with the x17 R2. Highly recommend!

Purchased this open box online and when it arrived, it wasnt what I expected. Nearly every spec was different than what I had ordered. monitor was 1080p at 300hz, ram was 16gigs ssd was 500gb. it had a 3070. ect ect someone must have hit them with the ol' switcheroo or something. And the device came dirty like someone sneezed on the screen and tried to wipe it off with their greezy fingers. Not that I bothered with it for long, but it seemed like it might've been getting hot as the fans were running moderately even when just sitting on the desktop. unsure if it is due to bad design or if it was just this individual PC. plus the wasd keys seemed like a lot of mileage was put on it so there isnt a great way to tell tbh. But the 300hz screen did feel quite smooth and look quite crisp while I was navigating windows. Went to return the device immediately and was given a full refund with no questions asked. Whenever I have an issue with Best Buy, they always leave me feeling satisfied.

I’d recommend this laptop to anyone that needs a high end 17” Gaming Laptop. The screen looks beautiful with 4k at 120hz. It can handle gaming with ease and the sound is great for a laptop. I would recommend adjusting the temps of the fan depending on heavier tasks. Also make sure to update drivers and if needed, uninstall old ones and use the latest. After that it works flawlessly. Great for portability as well.

I've always wanted an Alienware computer. I started my own business recently and purchased this to be my work laptop. I really was just looking for something with enough CPUs and RAM to be able to run a bunch of VM's for development and testing, but I suspect I will start playing games on this eventually. My younger nephews seemed pretty impressed with this and were delighted with the RGB keyboard. I think they might be jealous. We are planning to try Apex Legends on it later. I've had it about 3 weeks now and so far it performs exceptionally. Starts up fast, breezes through the internet, of course depends on your internet speed. Installs things fast. Was able to run a few VM's and have multiple things going on with no issues. Speakers do sound a little muffled. Battery does not last much more than a few hours before I have to plug it in, even just listening to YouTube and working on spreadsheets. It does get a little hot on my thighs, which may be good in the winter. There are some power settings I saw that you can adjust though. The only thing I changed so far was turn off the lights in the back. It makes it hard to find and see the USB ports when the lights are on. Also, the processor model for this machine is 12900H, NOT 12900HK as described. This laptop is a little large and does not fit in my backpack. I wish the keyboard had a 10 key number pad thing on the right, but I can do without it. I plan on getting a curved monitor, cause I've always wanted one of those as well, a mechanical keyboard and mouse to use with a dock sometime in the future. At a minimum, I got something I've always wanted, and it will make a great business expense/tax deduction.

Alienware x17 R2 is an excellent gaming laptop that offers a high level of performance, with its powerful Intel Core i9 processor, 32GB of memory, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card. The 1TB SSD provides ample storage for all your games and other files, ensuring you never have to worry about running out of space. While this laptop is a great replacement for an old Alienware laptop, I did experience some issues with the keyboard upon first using it. The keyboard did not work properly, requiring multiple restarts to get it functioning correctly. However, after resolving this issue, the laptop has been performing great, with no other major issues to report. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase of the Alienware x17 R2 gaming laptop, and would recommend it to anyone in the market for a high-performance gaming laptop. Just be aware that there may be some initial setup issues to contend with, but these are easily resolved and should not detract from the overall quality of the product.

Very nice laptop, great specs, but VGA is not the Ti version, it's RTX 3080 16gb, it's NOT the Ti version, it was open box & missing the retail box, so the plastic is a little discolored. Ram is 32Gb SSD 1 TB 12th gen intel i9. But this particular version has a 4k display :) 120Hz refresh rate

I love Alienware laptops. They just feel really good to me. Everything is great about this model EXCEPT the CPU is not a 12900HK, it is a 12900H. The GPU pulls a good 150w on balanced mode. It's top out is 175w on Full fan mode but only hit it when running benchmarking software like Time Spy. Anyway be aware that BEST BUY has this product labeled with the wrong CPU. With that said I am going to return it because I feel the laptop should be priced lower.

Very thin and modern design. Has dual internal NVME slots and 2 SODIMM slots. Unfortunately, CPU/Mobo list a max of 64gb of ram which is a let down since 96gb DDR5 SODIMMs exists now. Battery life abysmal but to be expected for an Intel laptop, you're paying for performance not efficiency. For browsing, expect 1-2 hours of battery life. Additionally, comes default with awful Intel adaptive brightness control on battery which constantly dims and brightens the screen, this can be turned off luckily. However, I purchased for the high end specs in a portable package for VFX and video work. So far, is great for that.

This is one beast of a gaming laptop. This why it costs what it costs. Powerful I9 CPU coupled with RTX3080 makes gaming looks easy and painless even at the absolute highest settings. 32GB of RAM is plenty for even the most demanding application and games. UHD screen is one of the best out there with 120HZ. Playing Forza Horizon 5 was a blast with blazing speed and great graphics. Battery life not the best, but what do you expect from a powerful gaming laptop such as this one. I bought as open box - satisfactory and it was in great condition. Can't complain. Best gaming laptop ever. Can't go wrong with Alienware.

Handsome machine, realatively quiet too. Performance is amazing, assuming you’re playing at 1440p or below. The 4k panel drains extra battery life, which is unfortunate because none of the Alienware “x” models really excell in that department. Additionally, native 4k gaming just won’t happen on this machine unless it’s something that isn’t too graphics intensive. Alienware software is clunky too. Ultimatelty I felt that 4k is unecessary, and 17 inches was too large for anything but my desk. I opted to get something less powerful with a 1440p monitor and better battery life and am happy. Your priorities may be different than mine, though.

      Hey There John,
We value your feedback and want to thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your Alienware x17 gaming laptop. We are happy to hear that you are enjoying the performance of your device but are sorry to hear you are having trouble with your battery discharging quickly. Below I have provided troubleshooting steps to help improve the performance of your battery.
Here are the steps to help improve the battery performance of your laptop:
      1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
      2. On the options list, click Power Options.
      3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built-in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
      a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
      b) If running Cortana, type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
      c) Turn the Battery Saver On or Off.
      d) Additional settings are available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
      e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
      f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further the Battery Saver feature.

Wish it came in a color that was less of a smudge magnet, and the USB ports all being on the back is a little awkward. Otherwise, an absolute beast of a machine. Runs pretty much everything ive thrown at it without breaking a sweat. Fan isn't even terribly loud (though it is noticeable when it's running something intensive, e.g. Cyberpunk, The Last of Us)
