Since the wifi router was in the living room, I had problems with internet connections, but now I get over 100mbps internet speed. For those who need LAN connection go for it.

I could not give it a good rating or a bad. Long story made short… not what I was looking for… was returned the next day. I would of course recommend this item to someone that needed it, alas, I did not.

I bought this product to record Google Hangouts On Air on my Mac Book Pro which requires a wired (not wireless) connection for smooth quality. It works great. However, this is a product meant to be used mostly with Apple laptops. If you put the laptop on your lap the dongle that comes out is just long enough to hook on the edge of whatever pants you are wearing. The dongle length either needs to be much shorter and less costly or it needs to be longer so that it does not catch on your pant leg if you are sitting down with your laptop. The designers failed to keep in mind that laptops are, in fact, often used on LAPS. A big mistake in my opinion since the catching on my pants is rather annoying. It's an annoying design issue that I hope they will correct in the future. $30 is a bit much for this little thing despite the technology inside. All in all I would recommend it if you absolutely need a Thunderbolt to Ethernet plugin for your internet connection to improve, your speed and quality of connection.

This adapter does what it says it does: lets you use wired ethernet with your MacBook. If that were the only aspect of this review, I'd give it a 5. Does what it says with no hassles. But there's two questions, both directed at Apple: 1) Why is this product even necessary? 2) Why does it cost $30? The rest of this review will mostly be a rant, just to warn. Other laptop makers have managed to make thin laptops with built-in ethernet ports, so it seems Apple isn't trying very hard or they just really want some extra cash. This thing can't cost more than $1 to make, $2 if you count the fancy box. Why is it $30? Oh, because Apple wants to sock to all us poor suckers who use "legacy connections." I have one of these in my office. I was out on a business trip and had to use a hardwire connection for a specialized purpose (connect to special hardware). I didn't have my adapter with me so I got to buy another one. Company paid for it but....$30 to forget an accessory that should never have been necessary? It's like Apple thinks we're back in the early 2000s video game era, where a the console alone wasn't enough. You needed to pony up $30 for a memory card, $50 for a second controller, and then another $40 for the component video cables if you wanted quality/HD output. Built-in hard drives and HDMI saved us there but Apple seems intent on regressing to the old days. So much for progress.

So, for my macbook air, I have the mid '12 model that only had 802.11n speeds, where as the next years model came with the 802.11ac speeds. I did the aircard swap with no problems, and with it came the ability to unlock my macbook with my apple watch which was annoyingly useful. Never had a problem the OS picked up the new card and ran without a single thought or issue except for one....if you ever need to boot into recovery with internet support or do a full on hardware test...something is missing that allows the mac to use the new aircard and it may not and in some cases does not allow you to boot under those circumstances with wifi support. SOOOoo...the way to get around this is to buy this handy little ethernet adapter and the macbook will boot into recovery internet and run a full hardware test from the ethernet adapter vs wifi aircard. We'll worth the effort, easy fix. Bonus...even though I can clock 50mps on the 802.11ac speeds...it does vary somewhat and as you increase distance from the router. Ethernet, wired, obviously much faster, but surprisingly, when both ethernet and wifi are enabled, it seems to mimo utilize both connections to mass move hundreds of gigabytes vs solelywired or solely wifi...which is nice and very fast.

Use it to directly wire connect MacBook Pro to router. End up with quicker internet speed. As with most genuine Apple products, they just work. Could've gone with cheaper one from another company but after spending almost $3k for the computer saving 20bucks isn't worth it. One less thing to worry about.

Solid build, works great, extremely easy to use. A bit on the expensive side and could be designed better, but other then that, a great product. My only gripe is that the design makes it so it sticks about 3-4 inches out of the side, some type of L design or a more flexible cable would have made it more discrete.

Pretty self-explanatory product. Plug one end into your MacBook Air or Retina MacBook Pro via the Thunderbolt port, and the other end to an Ethernet plug. It's a great product, but overpriced. If you have a gift card, or you find this product open-box, jump on it

The wifi on my Macbook Pro was always going in and out in my living room. For $30, this little little dongle not only eliminates my wifi headaches, but also gives me lightning fast speeds. Super simple to install. Just plug it into the Mac, then plug the Ethernet cord into your router. Connects to the internet right away. I wouldn't need this adapter if the Macbook had an Ethernet port built in, but that's an entirely different discussion. This adapter works as advertised.

I use this to connect my MacBook Pro when I need super fast Gigabit Networking to back up or transfer files. This works as designed.. just plug it into your macbook, plug into your switch or router, and you're on the network at full speed. No driver installation is required, and it leaves your USB ports free. If you're using your Thunderbolt ports for some other purpose such as video, you probably don't want this dongle.

I should I've picked this up years ago! Works flawlessly with the newest version of OS. I have it plugged into my MacBook Pro when I work at my desk. All wireless connections (I.e. wireless printer) functions properly while this in use . I'm able to get the fastest internet speed constantly. Don't bother with the aftermarket USB Ethernet adapters, they don't work as well as this one.

This adapter is a must have for MacBook users that don’t have an Ethernet port. Since the newer models don’t have the Ethernet port installed, this adapter works great for getting a wired connection. Sometimes you need the reliability of a hardwired connection and this adapter is perfect for that. Kinda pricey in my opinion but would recommend.
