This laptop is primarily designed for basic tasks such as watching Netflix, YouTube, online shopping, and working with Word documents, Excel, and PDFs that are not too heavy. The original price of over $200 is excessive; at a sale price of $120, it becomes more reasonable, but the ideal price should be around $100, as it is not worth more than that for two main reasons:
Firstly, it features only 4 GB of soldered RAM. In 2024, it should be prohibited to sell a device with Windows 11 that has only 4 GB of RAM without providing an option for upgrading.
Secondly, it offers only 64 GB of storage, which is insufficient. It lacks a card reader and is only valuable if one does not intend to install or save anything on it, or if you have an SSD available to expand storage.
Storage can be increased; I installed a 2 TB NVMe in it. The laptop is easy to open, and the port for the NVMe is visible, although it lacks a screw. The motherboard and the operating system recognized the new disk immediately. The challenge arose while installing the OS on the NVMe; I attempted to clone the eMMC to the NVMe, but the cloning resulted in fragmentation errors on the eMMC. Therefore, I booted from a flash drive and installed Windows 11 from zero, deleting the partitions on the eMMC and installing on the NVMe. Upon turning on Windows and completing the installation, the eMMC appeared in the disk manager. However, despite formatting it, it did not show up in Explorer. This was not a significant issue since I already had 2 TB, but using the Mini Tool Partition Wizard, I reformatted it, partitioned it, and then it was recognized by Windows Explorer.

I got this on sale for only $100 and for that price its well worth it, it web browses fine and can do basic tasks fairly well, it might just take a second for it to load. I took it apart and it even has an empty m.2 slot if you want/need to add more storage. Only thing wrong with it is that the product page says that it has an IPS panel but it is very clearly a TN panel but that’s forgivable for a $100 laptop. Overall, great device for basic tasks especially if you can get it for as cheap as i did.

Dude, I can't believe it! I was totally expecting to get a broken PC for that price, so I even asked the cashier if it was in good condition. He just laughed and showed me it—it was mind-blowing! I'm buying this for my sister, and I usually use an M3, but wow, yes it can be slow but bro i dont expect m3 performance right, I had no idea this kind of deal existed! I'm seriously about to make Best Buy my go-to app for all things electronics. Thank you!

While vastly better than the Chromebook that this is replacing it isn't a speedy device. Given the stats it is working as expected.

For the money you can't go wrong! Also if you get rid of the windows S and the bloat wear you will be amazed at how well this things runs.
Also it has a "NVMe slot" on the motherboard so you can add more space since it only comes with 64GB

This laptop initially looks like it would not be much for the price. I unboxed it and pleasantly it is similar to laptops priced above this price class. Build materials are ok but not as cheap as you would think. I liked the number pad built into the touch pad. The Power adapter is just ok but wish they could have used USBC over the barrel connector but assuming cost was a factor. When powering on and setting up the initial out of box. It took over 2 hours to run the initial updates and setup prompts before I was at a working desktop. After using for basic productivity such as web browsing and word documents. It performs ok. Just as long as you’re using one thing at a time. I found the most delay when loading web pages especially if you had more than one tab open at a time. It was just painful to let the system freeze and wait for it to respond. Obviously, the low ram and SD storage is the limiting factor but for basic school use this works. I would spend more if I needed to do more multitasking. The battery life is decent. I was able to get 6-7 hours of basic web and word use. I would recommend if the use was limited otherwise, I personally would just spend a little more for something with at least 8gb of ram and a larger SSD since you cannot really save anything to this laptop. I know the use is more web based but sometimes you need to save stuff offline.
Pro’s:
• Affordable
• Number pad built into touch pad
• Ports: USBC, USBA and HDMI
• Good battery life
Con’s:
• Still slow with multitasking
• Number pad is inaccurate
• No backlit keyboard
• No upgrade options for ram/ssd

I would like to start by saying that this laptop is designed for a specific type of use, and group of users. Therefore, I based my review keeping this in mind, and did not try to do compare against laptops costing far more, and higher spec'ed hardware.
This arrived boxed very nicely. Did the usual setup and updates. This is running Windows 11 in “S” mode. This only allows installing apps from Microsoft store, use Microsoft Edge browser, and command line is restricted. This may be beneficial as most apps from Microsoft store are smaller and will take up less space in storage.
As to storage, this has a 64Gb eMMC, and a large portion is already used with system and apps. However, it does have two USB A ports (1 – 2.0, and 1 – 3.2), and one USB C port that can be utilized with a flash drive to store all your music, photos or videos.
The processor is a Intel Pentium N6000 with four cores, running at 1.1GHz, and boost to 3.3 GHz. Ram is 4Gb DDR4. The screen is a 14 inch, FHD, 1920 X 1080, 60Hz, and rated at 220 Nits. Graphics are integrated. It does have an HDMI port and a headphone jack.
The keyboard has a good feel, the keys are well spaced, and have a good travel. The key markings are in white lettering, and are very visible in lighted areas. But a backlit keyboard would have been a nice improvement if using in a dim area. The track pad performed well, and had a positive “click” feel. Also, a nice touch, the trackpad has a numpad built in that can be switched on or off. However, again, would have been an improvement to have the trackpad backlit as well.
The only negative – and reason for only 4 stars – is the screen “washes” out if it is tilted a few degrees up or down, or side to side.
When using for basic tasks such as surfing internet, email, and streaming videos, this laptop surprised me. The Pentium processor chugged right along and handled these tasks well. Have multiple tabs open, running numerous apps at same time will definitely slow this machine down. Again, using as designed, this is a great choice for the student doing research, reports, etc. Or the user that needs to do basic tasks such as emails, stream videos, surf internet, maybe some on line shopping or banking. For that, this is an excellent choice, at an attractive price!

The ASUS 14" laptop with Intel N6000 processor is a solid basic task oriented laptop for those who need a portable laptop that can surf, stream, or run serial processes.
In the box is the laptop and power cable, setup is the standard Windows workflow of picking your basic preferences and then if you already have a Onedrive account you can sync files and programs between computers. This build comes with a year of Microsoft 365 which is the web based version of Office tools such as Word and Excel. As far as peripheral support (keyboard, mouse, headphones, etc), the laptop has a USB-A 2.0 port, USB-A 3.2 port, USB-C 3.2 port, HDMI 1.4 port, and a headphone jack. It also boasts wifi 5 and bluetooth for connectivity.
The perks of this laptop build are in the portability, value, and design. The laptop weighs in at just under 3 lbs, is 3/4" thick so it can easily tuck into most any bag, and has a sturdy feel to the case, frame, and hinges. The screen is a 220 nit LED Full HD display, and is easy to view at most angles. The keyboard is well laid out, and the mouse pad has an integrated number pad that can be turned on/off via the top corner of the mouse pad. Overall, I really like the build, it feels sturdy to include the fold flat hinges, and doesn't feel crammed into the footprint. The keyboard is well spaced for those with larger fingers, and has a good amount of key friction for accurate response.
A few considerations that may not appeal to everyone: Windows 11 has S mode which you will have to disable to install any applications external to the Microsoft app store. The upside is that Windows is a light version that only comes with basic applications and no bloatware. Note, once S mode is disabled you cannot reenable without reinstalling Windows. The S mode approach is great if you need to control content security or applications for a child, but I found it to be a pain as I wanted to install my preferred browser, and had to disable immediately upon setup. Second, the 4 GB RAM is enough to do the basics, but really only one at a time. I find that it takes a second to load a file, respond to a click, or do any type of multi-tasking. The more applications open the more lag, the trade off is that the machine does great for browsing and single tasks if you are patient. Lastly the camera is a toss up, on the plus side this laptop has a 720p camera, the downside is that the camera is a bit laggy and takes seconds to readjust to lighting changes, giving the subject a washed out look until the processor catches up.
Overall, this is a buy for students, those who need a budget friendly portable computer, and those who have a single application need. I find that this laptop is a great fit for tracking data when I'm out in the garage and it is exactly what I need for building part reference files and looking up and keeping track of part numbers. The laptop does a great job for internet browsing, and with wifi 5 I do not have any lag while internet browsing. On the flip side, I'd recommend upgrading if you need a laptop that can game or run processor heavy applications routinely. Yes this laptop can do it, but there will be frustrations with lag.

Lightweight Low-end Laptop for Students/Travel

The ASUS 14” FHD Laptop is a lightweight, low-cost, durably built computer designed to run Windows 10 in S Mode. For a laptop priced this low, but with such a solid and quality feel, makes this a perfect device for a student or for frequent traveling.
Setup
Unboxing and setup with Windows 10 S Mode took a little over one hour. The base and lid have a high-quality and durable feel. The lid and keyboard base have a smooth black aluminum texture. The bottom of the base has a firm plastic black texture with rubber feet and speakers on each side. The left side of the base has the power port, HDMI, USB, USB-C, and headphone/mic port. The right side of the base has another USB port. The keyboard keys are textured, nicely sized, and comfortably spaced for touch typing. The dual-purpose trackpad is centered below the keys. It can be toggled between the touchpad and numeric keypad by tapping the icon at the top-right corner. A white LED light shows when the numeric pad is active. The Enter key has a highlighted band of light plastic; however, I am disappointed that the keyboard does not have a backlight.
Usage
S Mode is a streamlined version of Microsoft Windows designed for enhanced security, optimized performance on low-spec hardware, and longer battery life. Only apps from the Microsoft Store can be installed to reduce the risk of malware.
I installed and ran the Nero Score benchmark and got the following scores:
• Total Score: 779
• AI Tagging CPU: 174
• System AVC CPU: 422
• System AVC GPU: 884
• Metaverse GPU: 77
The Nero Score site shows these scores as below average for performance.
The laptop performs well with the Microsoft Office suite. Streaming YouTube videos with the Edge browser performed well without any lag, and the sound of music videos was clear and crisp. A graphically intensive game called Astrokings performed smoothly without any lag.
Overall, the ASUS E410KA laptop is an entry-level, low-cost performer, with a decent battery life - perfect for a student. Its lightweight and durability make it a good fit for a backpack. The lack of a backlit keyboard knocks it down to four stars, but I would still recommend it.
