Customers are impressed with the ROG Flow X13's vibrant screen, powerful performance for its size, and surprisingly long battery life, even under moderate workloads. Many appreciate its portability and lightweight design, making it ideal for students and professionals on the go. However, some users point out the limitation of the soldered RAM, impacting upgrade options. The compact size and impressive performance are frequently highlighted as key strengths.

BEWARE OPEN BOX!!

Be incredibly careful with the open box models. Just purchased an "Excellent Condition" unit direct through Bestbuy, received from San jose today.
Look in the box and see a different charger, no Nvidia stickers... what's going on? The S/N stickers on the external, Internal boxes, and even the sticker on the bottom panel unit all matched the order and description for the top tier 32GB ram 1TB SSD and 4070 GTX GPU.
Then I boot into BIOS, it's a total mismatch on S/N. 16gb of ram. 512gb ssd. No dedicated gpu. The unit was fraudulently swapped (indisputably) with a base model at 1/3 the cost.
Drove to the nearest BestBuy. Told I would have to call it in. Decided to do that in store, and a good thing too. Customer support on the phone was a 40 minute nightmare. Agent claimed the item hadn't arrived yet, that it was out of return date, and finally it was a standard return putting it right back into circulation - all of which was false. The local BestBuy rep offered to step in (thank god) he was able to sort it with the phone agent and make a note that the item was mismatched in the log. No complaints to the in store rep.
All that said, the best that the phone rep could offer was a refund. Forget that I reserved half the day to sign for UPS, an hour and forty round trip to the store, another 45 minutes on the phone and up to 30 day wait on the returned funds. Whole day wasted plus gas. Or the fact that if I hadn't noticed I'd be screwed out of 2/3rds of the value spent on the x13 because no one bothered to check the unit specs while on before sending it out. What if I was accused of the fraud? Not even a replacement offer for the lost limited time discount or a new unit at the same price to make up for the lost time and $.
At least I got my money back I guess we'll see. Lesson learned. Open box is not worth the risk for 10% savings. I'll think twice with future orders.
Straight up fraud. BedBuy NEEDS to check the bios serial number.

At $2.5k, or even lower, this doesn't come with
a native HDR display (it only has it for fullscreen(?) apps, you won't get it in games e.g.).
I would much rather prefer this over the 165Hz display (maybe a 90/120Hz would be more realistic, you aren't getting close to saturating 165Hz without playing at 800p AND Frame Generation in recent games). I also wish the display was even brighter / not as reflective (not really usable outdoors) but this is just a personal preference - going significantly brighter/different panel (miniLED/OLED would probably harm battery if you still wanted to keep everything else that was good about it).
or a RTX 4080 - it still won't perform well at a low power limit but you'll get better efficiency and more memory
You're forced into this config for the 32GB RAM so it's unfortunate.
Those are my major complaints, everything else is a relatively small issue, (many things fixed over prior gens?). The speakers are very subpar though, for sure.
It has no competition (even the Z13 is probably objectively worse, unless you really like the tablet only).
It does sustain 70W combined without going over 80 degrees - or it can go over 80 degrees and be not so loud. With some undervolting and thermal mods you can easily do more - I've seen ~15% GPU performance gains.
It has nearly uncontested battery life at this size/GPU (14" laptops including Asus' G14 without a larger battery are depressing to look at now) - I think only the 14" MBPs can compete due to their display.
The keyboard and trackpad are good / decent; personal preference. They do disable on rotation (even a little) so you may have to disable that service if you use it in bed - I would be very annoyed if I weren't able to do this.
I would really like to see a Surface Book esque device from Asus, since they pretty much have the "pieces" - X13 + Z13. You would be able to get double the already good battery, easily push higher power limits on the CPU/GPU (since it wouldn't be combined), and have double the ports/drives. (It would also be double the price though lol, well maybe $3k would be reasonable given M$ prices).

This is a great piece of tech. The hardware will provide great performance in games for years to come due to DLSS support, and 32GB of memory will give plenty of headroom for other tasks for the foreseeable future. Being the only 13" laptop with a dedicated graphics card AND foldable for drawing/notes, this devices is unlike any other. Definitely look into replacing ArmoryCrate with GHelper online as it will save your idle battery life and also offers a lighter load than ASUS' default software.

This is an amazing laptop in a small size. I use it mainly for work with some lite gaming on the go. Battery with most settings turned down gives me about 6 - 8 hours of battery depending on usage. Gaming, with all settings turned up can only be done on the power brick.
The screen is crisp, colors pop, and no tearing. Its not an OLED but one of the best LCD screens I have ever seen on a laptop. ASUS calls the display Nebula what ever that means. Its not mini-LED but still has very good contrast.
Keyboard is tight and typing is crisp. I do not like to use the touch pad due to my big hands always hitting it so I mainly keep it off and either use a mouse or the touch screen.
Pen works flawlessly.
I did upgrade to the better WIFI card, and it increased my speed by about 150 - 250 Mbps depending on signal.
Also upgraded to a 2TB SSD for more space and use a 1TB Micro SD for pictures, videos, etc. to free up hard drive space.
Did I say this thing was light? Under three pounds, touch screen, pen, clamshell design with 360 lid. What more can you ask for? Its a sleek design and incognito gaming laptop that looks like it belongs in my weekly staff meeting.
I honestly love this laptop and have not had any issues with it at all. No complaints, no issues, no problems so far.

Nearly perfect do-everything laptop

This laptop is an amazing blend of portability and performance. It's a bit of a niche product and isn't for everyone since you can get faster laptops with better upgradeability for a bit cheaper if you don't mind going larger/heavier, but if performance and portability are your top concerns then you really can't do any better than this. The 4070 in here, despite being the lowest TDP config possible, is still a very powerful GPU and can easily play any game at high settings and run AI models locally with good performance. Battery life is surprisingly good with light loads, although like with most PCs running demanding games on the GPU will drop it down to under 2 hours.
The 2-in-1 form factor is also amazing and really adds to the utility of the device, although I wish there was a place on the chassis to store the pen.
The SSD and wifi cards are both upgradeable, bumped mine to a 2TB that's faster than the OEM SSD and put a proper Intel wifi card in mine (the included realtek wifi card isn't great).
However this laptop isn't perfect, the biggest missing feature is HDR on the display and poor outdoor visibility, and no RAM upgradeability. The lack of RAM upgradeability means that this top-tier model is the ONLY way to get 32GB RAM, which comes with a very significant price bump over the 4060 model.
Annoying price bumps aside, if you look at Asus' competitors the price of this machine is actually very reasonable. The only real competition close to this size is the new M3 Macbook, and even then this comes out significantly cheaper for a similar config with better overall performance and portability for the Flow X13 compared to the Mac (although the mac does have much better battery life under load).
This machine even has surprisingly good Linux support if you're not a fan of Windows and is full usable (including the touchscreen) with a distro like Pop!_OS.
Overall if you're looking at a do-everything laptop that's very easy to travel with and will let you play all your games on the road without adding a bunch of travel weight you'll be hard pressed to find a better machine than this at any price.

A Powerhouse in a Compact Form

I've been using the ASUS ROG Flow X13 for a while now, and it's fair to say that it has exceeded my expectations for what a compact laptop can deliver. Here's my take on this versatile powerhouse:
Design and Portability:
The Flow X13's sleek black design is not just about looks; it's about functionality. Its compact size, complemented by solid build quality, makes it an ideal companion for my on-the-go lifestyle, easily fitting into my bag as I head to college engineering classes or work in a manufacturing facility.
Performance:
Equipped with an AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070, and 32GB of RAM, this laptop has been a game-changer. Running software like Solidworks and AutoCAD is a breeze, and I've yet to encounter any hiccups, even when pushing it with multiple intensive programs.
Display:
The 13.4-inch QHD+ (2560 x 1600) display with a 165 Hz refresh rate is a joy to use. Whether I’m drafting designs or enjoying movies, the clarity and color accuracy are impressive. The touchscreen functionality, enhanced with the included stylus, adds an extra layer of convenience, especially at work.
Keyboard and Ergonomics:
The typing experience is comfortable, with well-spaced keys and a nice travel depth. It's a small detail, but it makes a big difference in my daily use, from taking notes in class to drafting reports.
Connectivity and Versatility:
With two USB-C ports (one being USB 4.0), an USB-A, HDMI 2.1, a micro SD card reader, and an audio jack, it’s a hub for all my devices. Plugging it into my Anker USB 4 dock (40gbps means no DisplayLink) transforms it into a multi-monitor workstation, making the transition from a portable device to a desktop setup seamless.
Audio and Multimedia:
The audio quality is decent, but it’s the visual experience that stands out when I'm watching movies in bed or propped up on my steering wheel during laundry days. The speakers, while not up-firing, do a commendable job for their size.
Thermal Management:
It does get warm, particularly when I’m pushing it with heavy tasks. I've found that folding it over and allowing better exhaust can help manage the heat effectively.
Battery Life:
The battery life has been reliable, lasting through my work and class sessions (up to 7 hours running productivity programs). I haven't had to worry about constantly seeking out power outlets, which is a huge plus.
Final Thoughts:
The ASUS ROG Flow X13 is more than just a laptop for me; it’s a reliable partner that fits perfectly into my dynamic lifestyle, balancing my needs as a student, professional, and multimedia enthusiast. While there are minor concerns about the long-term durability of the finish and the cooling efficiency under load, its overall performance, portability, and versatility make it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a compact yet powerful laptop

After a very long time searching for a good laptop to pair with my Wacom Mobile Studio Pro i decided to give this a try. I initially was mainly focused on the portability and compatibility with the usb 4 port to send video to the Mobile Studio, but very quickly every other detail of this laptop blew me away. The screen is bright and detailed, at 2k resolution which is perfect, and the cpu combined with the 4070 lets me play every game in my library comfortably with amazing settings. The built in Asus software has been finicky on my desktop build but with this laptop it has worked flawlessly, and the battery optimization within Armory Crate is AMAZING. The 2 in 1 factor with windows 11 is one of my favorite things, general use, web surfing, and everything else is so intuitive and ergonomic to use with the gestures, not to mention the touch screen and included stylus pen. The build quality and shell have a sleek extremely professional look while also being stylish. Overall this has been my favorite laptop I've ever had, and there are only 2 things i have gripes about: There is a proprietary port which after some research, is extremely close to oculink but is unable to be utilized by an oculink device which locks you to buying ASUS's fairly pricey external gpu docks. The second issue is that the usb port next to the proprietary connection is only usb 3. The laptop can still charge from this port at full power however with how often i use USB4 for video and data to my Wacom tablet which is already picky enough about cables and ports as is, i wish i could plug it in on either side to make use of the 360 hinge easier. With that in mind, perfect laptop reguardless

still at 1x USB-C port, 1x USB-A,
full size sd, 2.5 ethernet, 4k hdmi-in could be cool level ups
i have not opened the system up yet to confirm what i can do to upgrade the ram and storage
ton of wins this round with the display, the available ports and the size-to-power-to-dependability ratio it brings to my field as compared to the frequency of issues i expect to face.
this was a solid release, there's a lot of capacity to this thing and all of that is a plus to the most important factor, liquid thermal paste.

Coming from the original X13 with 1650 and 1200P screen.
They finally upgraded everything I have wanted since the original except a 2 way removable XG Mobile Cable.
I got the 2023 X16, but decided it was too large for me to carry all the time. So back to the X13...
Larger trackpad and it is much smoother to use.
XG Mobile cover is connected to the laptop. Lost that rubber piece in like 1 month on the original. still might happen as it is pretty flimisy, but it is progress.
Screen is excellent finally. 2k resolution is perfect for me, especially at this size. The terrible ghosting is also gone which was my biggest complaint. I was carrying a separate 2k screen to game on. OLED or Mini LED would have been nice, but it is a great screen regardless. I personally find the extra sharpness from the 2k screen to be great despite people always saying 1080P is more than enough at this size.
GPU is amazing for what it is. I never imagined a low TDP limited GPU could be good enough, but here we are.
With games that support DLSS 3, you can game at highish settings with FG and DLSS quality and get around 60ish and a very enjoyable eye candy experience.
You now don't have to carry the XG Mobile to game which is a big difference than the original with the 1650.
Software is buggy between drivers and such. Needs probably a year for drivers to settle in. Lots of driver reinstalling to get things working right.
Fans are on the louder side when they run hard and the laptop does push everything do the temp limits if you allow it to.
Games that don't support DLSS3 require me to bring the XG Mobile to play at the quality I prefer. Don't appear to be able to even run any DLSS for DLSS 1 games. I prefer non DLSS if possible, but for this form factor it is a nice middle ground. I only have the 6800 and 3080 XG mobiles. The 4090 is tempting, but priced higher than id like for now.
Wifi is a bit stronger and I am actually seeing noticeably better download speeds on my home Wifi 6 router. I was topping at around 300 mbps on the old X13. New one is in the 600s.
They need to stop limiting the Charging watts on non Asus Powerbricks.

This laptop is perfect for what I wanted. Lightweight, but powerful enough to run anything I want when plugged in. When _not_ plugged in it can run on the integrated APU (Think Rog Ally) and sip battery power, gaming under that magical 70w requirement for airline power. Such a good piece of kit!

Very portable and capable of playing all the games I’ve tried. A small portable gaming laptop is what I wanted and it delivered.
The negatives would be the screen rotates on its own. So, every time I closed it to put it in my backpack, and then opened it, the screen would be sideways. I had to look into disabling the rotating screen, and so far, it seemed to fix the problem.
I also found it does run hot, so be mindful about putting on your lap.
Overall, it was worth the price.

Excellent 14" laptop. In my opinion the best in its class.
OLED high refresh rate screen.
Fantastic Lenovo keyboard. Aluminum top and bottom plate (this could have been a 7 model) with only the keyboard deck being plastic.
2 nvme slots.
Lots of io on the left back and rear.
The only issue holding it back is the soldered on ram.
If they fix that next year this will be the perfect 14" to me!

I've had this laptop for about a month, and it fits all my needs. It's very lightweight and portable, but powerful enough to play new, high-end games at maximum settings. The battery life when it's set to low-performance is still pretty good, around 6 hours if you're doing basic personal, school, or office stuff, which is plenty. When I game, I usually hook it up to external monitors because the screen is understandably small, but even when I play on just the laptop, it's bright and clear enough that you get used to the small size rather quickly. I haven't had any bugs or software issues, and the hardware feels sturdy and well put-together.

The 4070 even with the limited tdp is scoring over 9k in timespy in turbo. This system at 13 inches and fairly slim is on par with a full size mid range last gen pc. I am mainly using just the 780m igpu to game while unplugged and even there the performance is impressive.

Great device but three things kept me from keeping it:
1) The low wattage draw hold the gpu back.
2) 1 TB is barely sufficient if you make thing a gaming rig.
3) Price. This is extremely over-priced for what it offers.
If you can overlook the three things above - this is a great laptop

Only giving this an average review as Asus nor Best Buy tells you that an Open Box item does not have the 1 year warranty but only 90 days going to be taking it up with Best Buy Corporate as I was not informed of this. On a 2000 dollar laptop that's important
