Customers praise the ROG Zephyrus G14's performance, stunning OLED display, and excellent battery life. Many appreciate its premium build quality, impressive speakers, and lightweight, portable design. However, some users note that the laptop can get warm under heavy use and that the RAM is not upgradeable. Concerns were also raised regarding the fan noise and the GPU's limitations in fully utilizing the high-resolution display.

Absolutely astonishing laptop. I had an m1 macbook air and while that was a great machine, I was missing being able to play games after getting some work done. This was the first 'macbook that can game' that really stood out to me, while actually being kinda affordable (I.E not the razerblades).
Pros:
-Screen-It's absolutely incredible. High refresh rate, amazing colors, could be brighter but it's bright enough. I also love watching movies at night with no visible black bars due to the pitch-black blacks. Viewing angles are ok, there’s a weird rainbow-effect when viewing at an angle
-Build quality- I'd say this is 90 percent of the build of my air. The main issue I have is the hinge, it's not the best. The screen flexes ever so slightly when opening, and there is a quiet but noticeable creak/popping sound when opening. It's really no big deal, its a nit-pick, but the rock solid screen and uber-smooth hinge of my mac really made it a joy to use. Otherwise, it's a beautiful device, the cnc chassis feels super great.
-The speakers-fantastic speakers, really they are way better than my air. Fantastic bass, but not much soundstage. Not sure about other macs, but I'd guess not as good.
-Keyboard- oh how I love typing on this keyboard. 10/10, a big upgrade over my mac. And it has colors!!
-Trackpad- not as good as my mac, but it's close and never have I wished I were using a mouse
-I/O-fantastic I/O. I love the hdmi and the microSD. I can get footage off of my GoPro without a dongle now!
-Fans/heat- It's a fan-less laptop when doing basic tasks like web-browsing and coding assignments for school. According to g-helper, the cpu is at 30c right now as I type this. Mind-blowingly cool and silent on silent mode with below settings. Even when gaming, it's faily quiet and cool on the wrist rest and keys, but hot above the keyboard on balanced mode, which is fantastic. I dunno why people say this laptop is a hot one, for me it’s not.
Battery- It's pretty good!! I'd say almost exactly what i've been getting with my mac, which is a great surprise(about 10 hours of light use 50% brightness) Seriously, this is so amazing, my last gaming laptop I had was a GS65 from 2018 and that got like 3 hours.
Cons-
-Slightly creaky hinge
-Some battery drain when not in use.
-Soldered memory. This really really sucks. 16gb is perfectly fine for me now, but what about 2 years from now? This really should have come with 32gb, or had a 4060 option with 32gb.
-Delay with airpods-ok this is not asus's fault. There is a fraction of a second delay when using my airpods. No biggy, but my mac didn't have this.
For me, it’s the perfect laptop!! Well, if it had more ram, but I still love it.
Heres the settings for g-helper I used, and some helpful tips as instructed from a very friendly redditor:
Get G-helper, and make sure you used the armory crate uninstaller to completely uninstall that, alongside rog virtual pet etc
Accross all modes(silent/balanced/turbo): In fans + power(right side of turbo), find CPU boost (the 2nd drop down menu with a rocket icon) and choose efficient aggressive. In the 'advanced' tab of this popup window, set undervolting at -10. You may look up on undervolting the g14 and may be able to push further than -10 but this is a safe starting value.
For silent mode change the power limits to 80, 70 ,70 and check apply power limits.
While on battery g helper will show the power draw. If you set gpu to optimised(rtx gpu off when its not plugged) and the screen mode to Auto(60hz while on battery/maxed when plugged), while browsing(light tasks) the usage should be under 10w, and you should experience better battery life.

Pros:
- Beautiful screen and keyboard. Absolutely gorgeous laptop (I love the keyboard a lot).
- The speakers are truly amazing. I don't use the computer speakers enough that this is a huge thing for me, but worth noting.
- Runs everything I've tried smoothly and easily, haven't had any issues with performance at all so far (running everything on either balanced or performance mode; turbo mode makes it run at about 90 degrees C while gaming).
- While it heats up when running games, it cools down pretty fast after the applications are closed. I haven't heard the fans hardly at all, it's nice and quiet.
- Battery life was pretty good when I wasn't gaming.
- Extremely quick startup time (competing with Chromebook for startup times).
- I have had absolutely no problems with this computer itself in terms of running/downloading programs effectively and quickly.
Cons:
- Runs VERY HOT, I've only used this computer with a cooling mat and after playing two rounds of helldivers with nothing but Spotify and temp gauge open in the background, GPU and CPU were both sitting at 85 degrees C. I haven't had a temperature problem while doing anything other than gaming. I thought it might have been a product defect as this was an open box purchase, but based on the multitude of other reviews noting the temperature, I think this bad boy just doubles as an egg cooker.
- Soldered RAM. This is not a concern for me because I don't need anything more than 16gb DDR5, but if you need something more, maybe a 32gb of at least DDR4 is better for you.
I wish the computer didn't get so hot. That is really my only concern. It hasn't effected gameplay or anything else I've tried so far, but helldivers isn't a terribly difficult game to run, so such high temperatures for just that are definitely a concern.
I love the look of this computer and I don't want to return it, but I haven't decided if the overheating is a dealbreaker for me or not. While I haven't personally tried the Lenovo Legion, I've seen no reviews claiming the same heat issues.
Overall, I think that the ROG G14 is a great little laptop, and if you need a work computer that doubles as a little gaming PC occasionally, it's pretty much perfect.
I would only recommend this to a friend that doesn't plan to game for extended periods of time, or use games that take a lot of umph to run.

ASUS G14 2024 Model
RTX 4060
16 GB RAM
TL;DR
Powerful, portable and despite what anyone would say it has great performance thanks to the RTX 4060 GPU although the RAM might be a little less. THE SCREEN IS MASSIVELY AMAZING. It’s a great choice for gamers and power users, but has some drawbacks in terms of battery life and price.
Pros
Performance: BOSS of a CPU! Excellent performance for gaming and demanding tasks. Handles modern games and intensive applications smoothly.
Portability- The reason why I bought it.
Weighing in at just over 3.5 pounds, the G14 is highly portable, making it easy to carry around for work or gaming on the go.
Display- Breaks the bank!
The 14-inch OLED display is sharp and vibrant, with good color accuracy and 120 Hz refresh rates that enhance the gaming experience.
Build Quality- Built solidly!
The laptop has a solid build quality with a sleek, modern design. The keyboard is comfortable to type on, and the touchpad is responsive.
Cooling System could be better. But hey, its a laptop!
The cooling system is effective at managing heat during intensive tasks, preventing throttling and maintaining performance.
Cons
Battery Life - okayish.
While the G14 is portable, its battery life is somewhat disappointing, especially during gaming sessions or heavy use. But some users say you can get upto 10 hours if you optimize it properly.
Price
The G14 2024 model is on the pricier side, which might be a barrier for some buyers unless its on sale on BestBuy.
Port Selection-No ethernet port with a somewhat bad(?) wifi card.
The selection of ports is somewhat limited, which may require carrying additional adapters for some users.
Conclusion
The ASUS G14 2024 model with RTX 4060 and 16GB RAM is a strong contender in the gaming laptop market. It offers great performance and portability, making it a solid choice for gamers and power users who need a capable machine on the go. However, the high price and limited battery life might be a drawback for some.

This is an Epic Laptop. I purchased the RTX 4060 model while it was on sale. I don't play many triple A games, but the performance is great. In Helldivers 2 on medium settings at full Resolution (2880x1800) I get about 70fps minimum. Also Trackmania at full Res is very smooth. There are some games that automatically enable V-Sync, but I have yet to get better performance with it enabled. I have seen many reviews saying you have to run games at 1080p for higher frames and although that would help, the sharpness of full res is so worth the small drop in framerate. I also recommend downloading G Helper as it runs much smoother than the Stock Armoury Crate software. The speakers are great too. I would say they about equivalent to a portable Bluetooth speaker. I plan to upgrade the SSD to 2 TB someday but 1 TB is honestly plenty and the read/write speeds are no problem. The battery Life is good as long as you control the performance settings regularly based on your current tasks. the iGPU in its ECO mode, can run simpler games too! I use it to play low intensity roguelikes or puzzle games and it handles just fine. Even in balanced It has good battery life. As long as you tweak power/brightness settings, you can maximize battery life for casual use to over 8 hours. Obviously if you are going full performance for games, just plug it in. Also with some other adjustments you can get background RAM usage down to about 4.5gb which gives you more headroom for heavier tasks. Keyboard backlight is functional at best, nothing special. The Slash Lighting on the lid is pretty pointless, easily disabled through software (AC or Ghelper). With power management, The laptop doesn't get too hot either. and when it does heat up, the portions of keyboard under your hands stay cool so it doesn't feel much different. The screen wobbles only when initially opening or adjusting screen! Once in position there is no wobble at all even when on a soft surface and typing! Just be sure to take care of the OLED display and this laptop will last you years. I am pleased with the purchase, though I would recommend waiting to purchase until it goes on sale. it went down to $1,099 when I picked it up.

Got this to game on during the summer when my steam deck can’t run a game at acceptable frames or if I need a mouse and keyboard. My 4090 dumps so much heat in the Texas summer along with my 32oled monitor and this thing has allowed me to game in other parts of my house without my home getting 80 degrees. The oled display is great with good battery life for office use. I’m glad I got the 4060 for heat and noise think the 4070 is overkill I would have preferred more ram but this runs overwatch well and docks well vertical for my monitor for office setup and old mmo I play on silent profile. Speakers are also very good for a laptop and especially for one its size. I hope it lasts and I don’t have to rma I wish the ram was upgradable but for my use case it’s fine. My wife has a Mac book pro m3 14 and it’s on par with the quality with a better display and I got it for less than that but can play windows games so I’m happy. I would get rid on armory crate and use ghelper that cleans up the experience but besides that and myasus the bloatware is pretty minimal. I got it on sale for about 1400 with tax and I’m happy with that price considering the screen and small form factor. I would get laptop cooler or small stand like I have it’s a cooler master snd allows the machine to breath so temps and noise don’t get out of control. I got some usb fans that I can plug into have a make shift cooler as well id needed but I haven’t really required them but nice having the option.

I've owned the 2024 Zephrous ROG G14 4060 for about a month now. I can say with no hesitation, you will not be disappointed with this laptop. It is by far, the best laptops I've ever owned.
Things I really like:
The display. It is just amazing. 2.8K OLED is a must have on anything now a day. The colors will truly knock your socks off evertime you use it!
The speakers! Dude I cannot tell you the first time I played something on this laptop. My brother in the other room legit exclaimed is that a movie!? That's how good the speakers are.
The size. The size of this 14 inch laptop is just great for anything. It is super portable and is down right useful.
Things I don't like:
Sometimes the computer overheats for no reason even on balanced preformance when you are running a game on close to native resoultion and max settings.
Armory create controller is downright confusing to use. I recommend uninstalling it and using G-Helper if you really want to control this laptop better.

I have had many laptops over the years and currently have a Macbook Air, Macbook Pro and 2 Lenovo Legions. This is my overall favorite laptop for my needs. The closest comparison I could think of was the Dell XPS 13 I had last year. It was a beautiful little notebook with maxed out specs and a touch screen. I sold it within 5 months. The fans throttled on it even during regular web browsing and the battery life was awful. This Zephyrus is like night and day. Build quality is solid and the screen is just gorgeous. Performance exceeds expectations for my particular needs. I can browse the web, do simple tasks and watch video with absolutely no fan noise. Even when doing more intensive tasks, the fans are absolutely reasonable. Although I wish I had more RAM, so far I have not experienced any signs at all that the current 16GB is limiting me. I was able to get this on sale plus I had $90 in Rewards so this little rig cost me $1300 total. I feel it was well worth it at that price. If the 32GB, 4070 was on sale for $1600 or below I would have def grabbed that model, but at $1999 it def wasn't worth the price premium for my needs. I love this little laptop and highly recommend it for all but the most intensive tasks.

Very good laptop imo, honestly one of the best I've used. I have since upgraded to the G16 since I wanted more power & a bigger laptop, but with my brief time with the G14, I almost miss this thing. Temps were good, it was great at handling games, it felt really nice (both in build quality & how light it was) with how portable it was, I might even be remiss to say I like this laptop more than my G16 myself, since temps on the G16 do seem noticeably hotter than the G14 in all scenarios (likely due to all the more powerful tech in it) & once again the mention of how compact this laptop is. I'd say if you got this laptop, you'd be one happy customer indeed.

This is an absolutely amazing laptop if you are craving one of the best thin and lights for gaming, at only around 3lbs this laptop can literally fit in almost any bag and can run most games at 1440p over 60fps easily. Played all of God of War on this device. Speakers are absolutely amazing and the best I have ever heard on any laptop, even better than Macbooks. I could go on all day about this laptop, if you goal is a thin and light there is no better windows laptop at the moment! The OLED screen is beautiful too! Battery life last about 7-8 hours using basic task and I recommend using G-Helper.

This laptop is extremely thin for your traditional gaming laptop. I personally got it for this reason as I was decidng between both but this doesnt even look like a gaming laptop to begin with! It has all your needed ports plus support for other chargers via usb (although its slow) but i feel like my only downside to it was how hot it can get and the ASUS software practically eating up your ram in the backgroud but i think you can turn it off but yea so far pretty good powerhouse gaming machine. But if you want the max power out of everything the only con is you have to restart it vice versa. Almost macbook like audio quality (im not exaggerating omg its so good) base is very good and prominent.

to preface, I've had it for a day now but I'll update later down but just wanted to give a review when opening it. I saw some reviews saying they had a heat issue when opening it however, mine did heat up opening but i think that was due to all the updates it was under. now it's at a constant 40 degrees celcius with no fans (i keep it on windows mode when im not playong games). i haven't played any games on it just yet but will update when i do and how it performs. the only issues i have are with windows 11 not the laptop (the task bar isn't auto hiding). overall, so far so good. the sound is amazing and the screen is amazing as well. the screen has a feature (i forgot what it's called but its to do with frames i think) that u can't use at low brightness level (50% brightness and under) which is kind of sad because my eyes are really sensitive but it shouldn't impact games since those are normally played at a higher brightness level overall, i dont think its an issue, just mentioning it. i would definitely get a laptop stand for it because it does heat up when flat on my desk.

Coming from a long time Mac user, this is a great windows machine with an Apple like form factor without paying the Razer tax. We’re at a point where the performance has gotten relatively good for the form factor. If you’re not a hardcore gamer like my wife who loves cozy games, this is more than enough. The oled screen is phenomenal and once you go oled it’s hard to go back to any other display technology as an owner of LG G3’s and C3’s. Check the tests online and I’m sure you can see if it fits your needs but the size, value, and performance are everything we’d want in a laptop because I’m tired of ugly, chunky gaming laptops and this latest g14 is surely not that.

I did over two months of extensive research before buying this laptop. The G14 for me blew its competitors out of the water when it came to build quality, battery lover, powerhouse productivity, and performance in such a compact passage. I wasn't looking for a complete desktop replacement, but something that was powerful enough to play AAA titles on the go yet could still be used for working at a coffee shop. There is nothing else in the market that comes close to the quality of the G14 at this price range. Highly recommend.

Have had it for a few weeks now, and I must say that it's easily one of the beat laptops I've had. Great display, not heavy, the colors are vibrant, but it can heat up. I'm a casual game, so this doesn't break it for me - you can always get a cooling or normal stand and change from Armoury Crate (AC) to GHelper. You can also turn off the slash lighting in AC. Just make sure you fully upgrade everything in Windows and AC after turning your laptop on for the 1st time. :)

I've had this laptop for 4 months now. Honestly this laptop is everything I could of asked for and i wouldn't trade it for any other. For context, I am an engineering major in college and looked wanted a lightweight windows laptop(similar to a macbook), that was powerful enough to do my everyday tasks and occasionally play light games without ANY problems. However if you are looking for a laptop strictly for intensive gaming, i wouldn't recommend (the RTX 2060 has its cons and you will run into heating issues), but if you in situation similar to me you wont regret it. It has really fast processing speeds I've never encountered crazy lag. Also the resolution is stunning sometimes you just cant stop looking at it. The battery life is actually pretty good as well, FOR A LAPTOP, so it wont be an issue. And it looks sleek. However, I sometimes have internet connection issues while I'm trying to connect to a stable Wi-Fi, which is strange but it isn't to often.

Gaming Laptop Equivalent to MacBooks

TL;DR: I love most aspects of this device, but there's some things that the average user should know about.
Below is my comprehensive review of the 2024 G14, with the 4060 mobile and 16GB of RAM. I'll try to cover build quality, display fidelity, performance, upgradeability, software and alternatives to the stock software loadout, and the overall user experience.
Build Quality
The build quality of this laptop is great. CNC aluminum is basically a must for me in any gaming laptop worth its salt, and the 2024 G14 definitely delivers. The palm rests feel great, as do the hinge and lid. The glass bezel around the display adds to the overall premium feel, as well. It's still not *quite* to the level of a MacBook Pro (which I'm coming from), but that's to be expected considering the lower price tag. I also appreciate the altogether look of the device, and it definitely stands out in a good way with its MacBook-esque appearance + gaming flourishes, such as the slash on the lid.
Display Fidelity
The OLED display is excellent - no complaints whatsoever here. It gets more than bright enough for my uses, the colors are fantastic and the 120Hz refresh rate matches the performance the mobile 4060 can output. I have to warn about potential burn-in to prospective buyers, but I haven't had the laptop long enough to experience it myself, so just take caution with long-lasting elements on the screen.
Performance
The base performance while just browsing the OS and the Internet is complication-free. Everything loads quickly without stuttering and Windows's RAM management comes in clutch to prevent the 16GB of RAM from becoming an issue. In fact, it seems to me to be faster with web browsing than my custom-built desktop, which can probably be attributed to the faster soldered RAM and faster SSD.
As for gaming performance, it's perfectly fine for my use case, but it won't be enough for everyone. The mobile 4060 at 90W is weaker than a desktop A580 Intel Arc GPU, for reference, although it has the stack of NVIDIA features to compensate for that. The GPU's fine for lighter titles at max settings (for reference, my most frequently-played games are HoYoverse titles like Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero, both of which are on the lighter side). But if you ask anything more than that from the GPU - like a UE5 title, for instance - it'll crumple under the pressure. Be prepared to lower settings in that instance.
Upgradeability
Unfortunately, the RAM on this machine can't be upgraded, as aforementioned. That might be a limitation of the 8945HS, for all I know, but whatever the reason is, it's a huge shame. To ensure longevity, I recommend anyone with a flexible budget to purchase the 32GB version of this laptop, though I know that in the US, that version comes with a 4070 as standard and therefore bumps the price significantly.
The M.2 SSD is thankfully swappable, though it's limited to PCIe Gen 4.0 speeds, for anyone considering a 5.0 drive. I'm personally considering a 4TB Samsung 990 Pro for mine.
Software
ASUS is as guilty as other OEMs of installing garbage like antivirus software on their computers out of the gate, and from what I've heard of this SKU, it's no exception. For that reason, I recommend prospective buyers to do as I did and wipe the drive with a clean Windows installation as soon as you get yours. Your system will run faster and more consistently, and you can just get GHelper to replace Armory Crate in case you want to do any tweaking.
Overall Experience & Conclusion
The overall experience I've been having with this laptop has been unproblematic, save for me trying to apply an overclock via Afterburner and corrupting my NVIDIA driver in the process. So maybe avoid doing that on yours, lol. Aside from that, it's been a remarkably consistent device by Windows standards, and I can strongly recommend it in most instances if you're in the right price range and it's on sale. Don't pay $1.6k USD for this machine, as at that point, you'd be better-off with something with a 4070 or better - hopefully, the same G14 with the 32GB of RAM on board.
I haven't tested battery life, as I don't use the laptop away from the wall and I recommend other users treat theirs the same way. You'll lose a lot of performance and battery life on any gaming laptop will be hamstrung by the x86 CPU architecture. The pre-included power brick easily keeps up with the power consumption of games, meaning that the laptop doesn't dip below 100% in these cases.
One more thing: ASUS are somewhat notorious for their poor quality control, and my previous ASUS gaming laptop (a TUF Gaming A15 with the 1660 Ti) was a victim of Wi-Fi card failure, for instance. Getting rid of the bloatware can help with this somewhat, but won't entirely prevent hardware failure or the device coming out of the box with issues. If yours has any problems out of the gate, go through Best Buy's support if possible, NOT ASUS's, as I've heard bad things about the latter.
TL;DR: Great laptop, some minor issues like bloatware and major ones like the soldered RAM, overall a premium experience that I can recommend.

Playing them locally in the machine, it definitely gets HOT, and for some reason, a lot of air vents out at the bottom of the display. Hopefully that doesn’t case issues down the road.
