Customers praise the ZenWiFi AX Wireless-AX system for its ease of use, extensive coverage, and strong signal, resulting in improved performance throughout their homes. Many appreciate the system's compact size and relatively quick setup. However, some users experienced connectivity issues requiring frequent restarts, and a few found the app and firmware updates problematic. The price point is also frequently cited as a positive aspect.

This system was an extreme upgrade from my Netgear Nighthawk. I lived with spotty unreliable wifi coverage for 5 years. I got the mesh system and it completely changed everything. My speeds have more than tripled on all of my devices, latency is down, and more importantly the reliability is 100% so far. I havent had a single disconnect since i got this. I have 29 devices and everything works flawlessly. It also makes setting up smart homes easier because it automatically assigns 2.4 and 5 based on traffic but with the same name and password. Furthermore instead of having a single place with all my ethernet stuff, i can now spread it around the house. The cubes are very easy to hide and fits nicely into decor. More than pleased. I have a Firewalla Blue+ handling security so i havent tested that part of this system. I pay for 150MBps and get around 300 on a normal day. Made it so i dont have to upgrade to 500

This ASUS mesh WiFi system is outstanding. I recently got high speed internet in my home and needed a new router since my existing one was a few years old. I picked up the ASUS ZenWIFI AX 1800 because it could cover more area through three separate devices outputting WIFI. My house is approximately 4200 sq. ft. and is mostly cinder-block walls which made my old router inadequate. Set up was easy, and immediately after connecting I had Wi-Fi signal throughout my entire house. I later found out that if you hook the two repeaters up with a lan cable, you get the full speed of the main router from each device. This allowed me to get the maximum WIFI speed I am paying for throughout my house and even in our back yard.

This is an incredible mesh system! I have my laptop and gaming system plugged in and they are screaming fast. I live in an apartment and there is a lot of interference that I was not aware of at first. Started with a Gateway and that screwed up a lot. Then quickly went to a modem attached to an extreme wifi router and it also didn't work. Upgraded to a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 and that also had lots of dead spots with getting kicked off of zoom and lagging on my Xbox. But this System is incredible! And I have Wifi outside as well as inside. The por....... I mean Tic Tok videos go so fast! Definitely recommend this! I get 200 Mbs throughout the house.

I have soffit lights that connect via Wi-Fi but had connection issues until I got this router. Now I can get 200 megabyte download speed at the very back of my backyard. I even get Wi-Fi all the way across the street on the sidewalk opposite of my house. Set up was real easy using the app. If you are wanting and connected house a mesh Wi-Fi is the way to go.

Awesome upgrade from my old basic router. I noticed the difference in coverage and speed after testing it out around my house using a speed test and a signal strength tool. Was not very difficult to set up at all, most difficlut decision was figuring out where to place the nodes. I recommend running ethernet to the nodes to get the best results out of them, set up like this they are awesome. The webpage and app for managing the wifi network and router hardware are great and contain lots of useful settings in them. This includes parental controls for those with kids If you are looking for a upgrade for your network I suggest these.

Questioned this purchase as I've always used net gear routers but mine was in need of replacement and there were so many changes since my last purchase i got in store help and this system was their recommendation as I needed/wanted ethernet access in a couple different locations which this modular system allows. Satellites in e locations giving both excellent wifi coverage but ethernet as well. Works great. FAST and wifi 6. Couldn't have asked for more.

I upgraded to this Asus ZenWifi AX when my Netgear router kept dropping. The best speeds I would get with my old router was 25-50 Mbps.
My new Asus router gets 400+ Mbps for download speeds. That's amazing. With this 3-pack, I have excellent coverage for my multi-story house (~3,000 sq ft).
Set up took less than an hour and was simple. Money well spent!

I have had this system for about a month now. I can honestly say that, especially for what I paid, this is more than worth the price tag. I'm certain there are faster systems out there, but for the internet package that I pay for (400 down, 25 up) it's more than sufficient. What really impresses me is the 375 down and 20 up in my basement. The primary router is in the living room upstairs and I'm still getting 375 down in the basement on a Mac. My last router would barely give me half the speeds in the same room on wifi. Great budget friendly product.

These are awesome. They increased our upload and download speeds to almost ten times what they were. I posted before and after pics. Can’t bog down our internet. Xbox live. YouTube. Streaming services. Can run them all at once. Have the same service all throughout the house. About 2400 sq feet. The setup wasn’t quite as easy as people want to say though. I’m not tech savvy either. Took me about a half hour.

Great mesh system with a budget. I actually purchased 3 different routers. This Asus XD4, Asus XT8, and Orbi ax3000. I decided to stay with the Asus XD4 because of the quality and i like how it just mesh with everything else you put it next to. It's tiny so it saves space. The router app is great also.

As Google was trashing their WiFi system by moving it into the Home app, I decided to get a new WiFi system. So I purchased this one as it has WiFi 6 and ASUS is typically a brand that I trust. However after this purchase that trust has eroded a bit.
I am 6 months or so into ownership and about 2 weeks in I had multiple iPhones start reporting that they had not been backed up in 2 weeks. Upon going into the backup settings I can see a message stating “Backup could not be completed due to network problems”. Wow! I had never seen this message in my 8 years of iPhone ownership. I never got that message when using Google. I also noticed from time to time that devices such as my AppleTV (which also doubles as HomeKit hub) would randomly go offline. Again, never had these messages when I was using Google WiFi. I have reset the entire network 3 times now thinking that maybe my tinkering with this system caused this issue. 2nd time all I did was to turn Ethernet Backhaul on and Tweak one of the WiFi settings… after this 3rd time all I did was to turn on the Ethernet Backhaul and the errors are still occurring. The funny thing is that when you don’t have Ethernet Backhaul on, if you press the “Optimize Network” button it informs you that “you are using a wired connection. Optimization is only for wireless connections.” Despite the Ethernet Backhaul being set to OFF.

I had two Mesh routers in my house and had ok speeds. I got this product, had it installed in under 30 minutes, and I get 500m through the house. I also reset the old routers to factory settings and added them to the Mesh. I am all set. As you can see it was installed on the 21st, the speeds before the 21st was my old router

Upgraded from a nighthawk x6 router when I moved my family into a bigger single level home. Home is about 1000 sq ft and this works like a dream. I have a node in the master bedroom, the living room and sons room and we have great speeds and coverage throughout the house.
Setup was quick and easy and the customization levels are amazing. I have my ps5 hardwired to the node in the living room but have that node sending dedicated bandwidth to my tv for streaming. I could see the app being a bit overwhelming for someone not super tech savvy as there is a lot of options and the screen is very busy. You get wifi6 which is amazing and at an amazing price!

They work well, set up is easy and they look a lot nicer than every other wireless router I’ve seen and they’re not made by Google or Amazon which have been known to have quite a bit of hardware qc issues and you know, privacy concerns if that’s your thing
The biggest strength of this base setup though is expandability, any relatively modern asus router can be added to the mesh network so before you recycle your old router, check and see if you’re sitting on your fourth connection point
I had an issue where one of the satellites kept removing itself from the network and I would have to reset and re add the device, however it’s been resolved for a few months now that I’m assuming came from a firmware update

I bought this about two weeks ago, and it's been running well since I started it up. However, it took me nearly 2 days to get it stable.
I have an existing router, so I need this to be an access point. While this work from the app, it takes a while to get it started and while I was transitioning, it took my entire network down. I had to reboot everything, and trick the device into thinking it was alone to avoid corrupting everything else. Also, plugging a satellite in to gigabit ethernet caused the entire system to fail miserably. I still can't use the ethernet backhaul on one of my satellites. Thankfully it's working via wifi backhaul, but I shouldn't need that.
Pros: It's fast, it covers my house perfectly, including front and back yard. It's stable, it just works. In a standard wifi house, this product is rock solid and when WiFi 6 shows up in our house, we're ready.
Cons:
* The app needs some help. It crashes a lot while you are setting up. I expect this will improve over time but boy howdy was this annoying for a while.
* Ethernet backhaul simply did not work with the latest firmware. I'm waiting for an update to see if this improves. A submission to their support system did not result in a single response yet. That was two weeks ago. I think the problem is that it attempts to use both wifi and ethernet at the same time when plugged in, based on my network traffic at the time. They MUST fix this problem.
* You can't name the devices in the app, but you can set a location. So, if you have 3 or more running, it can be hard to know which is which quickly. This seems like a simple problem to fix. Just let us assign unique names to each device.
* While 3 is doing well for me, I want the ability to buy an additional satellite. That simply isn't possible right now. Why? This seems like an odd choice. You can
Overall, good product, especially if this is your entire network. But if you have a more complicated setup, or you need to use an ethernet connection on a satellite, you may consider the Google or Amazon offerings instead until they fix some of the system challenges.

If you're reading this you are probably needing a good push or reason to buy this. The short and sweet of it is that the Asus ZenWiFi provides great coverage, comes with some nice quality of life features, has newer band technology, and setup is very easy. However, if you are an enthusiast or someone who logs into the router to perform more advanced functions then you may want to do some more homework on this before buying.
I purchased this set as we just relocated and moved into a three floor townhouse from a ranch styled home. The location that AT&T was able to setup our router was in our master bedroom closet which was on the third floor. There was no way our smart doorbell would be able to connect to the router from there. Thus began the search for a new router.
Asus has always made good products in my opinion. I have never had any issues with anything I have purchased from them and this is no exception. Setting up the routers were easy. Each router needs a power source in order to operate (duh) which is great because you are able to move the routers around until you find your desired coverage.
Setup is done via an app or you can log into the interface and complete set up there. The UI works. It can be a bit clunky at times when you are clicking between nodes/access points. There are parental controls that you can setup if you have kids that are easy to set up and manage. One thing I thought was really cool was the eco mode, or whatever it is called. If there isn't any use on one of the nodes it will go into a low power mode until a device is trying to connect to it.
What I really like about this system is that there is no performance loss. Throughout the house I am consistently getting the UL/DL speeds that are advertised by my ISP. Even with the 10+ devices going at a time we never see any issues.
As mentioned earlier, the one thing I wished I had done was do a little more homework and mainly in what VPNs can be used on the router. This is more my issue than Asus. If this matters to you then look into it before you buy.
Overall it's a great router and looks great. No regrets on this purchase.

I'm completely shocked at how well this wi-fi system works. This was recommended to me by a friend who's a techie, who has an ASUS router himself. However, he had not had a chance to try out the more modern mesh style Wi-Fi systems available on the market, so he was kind of using me as his test dummy when I bought this for my house. For starters, I have a lot of devices in my home. This is mostly because I decided I wanted to install a smart home starting about five years back, that's only been growing every time I purchase another smart bulb or smart speaker or plug. I have at least 15 smart bulbs, several smart speakers, and a few other odds and ends in there that also require being on a wi-fi system 24/7. Of course, this doesn't include phones, laptops, and guests who come and hang out on a regular basis and wind up joining our homes' bandwidth usage.
Secondly, I was coming from one of those smart tri-band Netgear Nighthawk X6 wifi routers. To be fair, while that system appeared to work fine at first for a short time, it actually has quite a few design flaws. The reason I ended up switching over to this system is because the Nighthawk system continually kicked my devices offline, including security cameras, without any warning, once every two to four days, and the only way to get everything up and running as it was before, was to turn the wi-fi router off and back on, which was not very ideal, considering there would be times we would be away on a camping trip or a vacation, and I would therefore be unable to do this, and even trying to remotely reset the modem through my internet provider would not override this extremely annoying necessity of having to specifically reset the router. My techie friend who encouraged my purchase of this router system, described how his Asus system has the ability for automatic reboots as many times as you want, during any time and day of the week that you desire, which essentially, resets the system quickly and efficiently, which could prevent that unwanted Behavior. He assumed that since his older Asus system had this capability, that this newer Wi-Fi mesh system would also have that capability. Sure enough, when I brought it in and set it up, and I had him take a look at the app with me, it was pretty easy to set up automatic reboots, which I now have set twice a week during a convenient middle of the night hour. Ever since I set this system up when I got it about two and a half months ago, I have not had a singular issue with my devices randomly being kicked offline out of the blue, like I did with my old Netgear Nighthawk system. The nodes work in Perfect Harmony. There are a fairly even amount of devices that I divided / were divided up between the router and the two nodes, so I'm never concerned about too many devices on one band at a time. There are so many things you can do in the app, including more technical things that you would want more technical knowledge on before messing around with, but there are also many customizable yet simple things you can do, like being able to add a guest Network and take it away just as easily with one click of a button, using parental controls, which thankfully I don't need, and even running a speed test on your internet. Sometimes, if there is an issue with your internet, the router and the nodes will light up different colors, but that's no issue! The provided guide actually tells you what colors and patterns the indicator lights are throwing actually mean, so you never have to guess what is actually happening when an issue is occurring. You may start-off placing your nodes in one place, but then decide you want to move them elsewhere, because the signal ends up being better when you place the nodes on the floor, believe it or not. The way that signals work, if you place the node up high, the signal travels upward. So, that goes without saying, when you place the nodes on the floor, the signal has to travel upward, thus, providing more coverage. For example, I started off having my second node on top of the refrigerator, but then found I was better off moving it just outside of the kitchen right on the floor in the corner of the room where it doesn't see any foot traffic, but it's neatly tucked away and provides a much better signal this way. I found that after making those changes, the amount of devices on each unit became far more evened up, after experimenting with where I was placing the nodes. I should also throw out there, that the range that this system puts out is pretty insane. I did a test and was in my car and went around the block but didn't turn the Wi-Fi off on my phone, and I was still getting a little bit of signal from the next street over, so if you have a big yard, that might be pretty useful! if you're still reading this then that's great, but I would honestly just go ahead and buy these. I literally have no complaints, and I'm pretty high maintenance with my Wi-Fi and internet and the amount of devices I use, so what are you waiting for? Just do it.
