Set up not too difficult. Print well, laser jet powder last longer & is much lower cost than ink jet. The printer cost more comparing to other ink jet printer, however the additional cost will be offset by the savings on the ink. Be aware, this particular model does not come with a scanner, for an additional $100, model MFC L3720CDW equipped with a scanner. I recommend this printer.

I had never heard of "Brother" as a company. The name gives you the feeling they have your back. I must say out of the box this printer was very easy to set up. Which I enjoyed very much. This is an everyday performer with no thrills. After removing all the packaging tape and following the directions. I was printing within 10 minutes. The size is a benefit because it doesn't take up much space. It's not too bulky or heavy. This is a Printer, not a scanner or fax. It comes with a touchscreen that is simple to use and read. Even though the screen is small you can still easily view the icons. There is only a power cord that comes alongside it. I do wish it was longer. After updating the firmware which didn't take that long. I connected it to my Windows laptop. It was the simplest Printer I had ever set up. Connecting it to my wireless connection also was a breeze. I know most people don't print much these days with emails and stuff. Yet, when you need to print important documents this will work! The response to Print was fast! I was amazed at how it sent a signal that quickly. The Printer was not very loud as well and not distracting for my taste. I think it can print 27 pages per minute. Not sure if that is fast by today's standards. My prints in Black and White looked amazing. My color prints looked good as well. There is also an app to download where you can print anywhere. I just didn't see a need for it because the setup was so simple and easy. At first, I didn't like having to remove the cartridges to remove the package plastic. Now I see the benefit to it in case you ever have to replace them. It was very intuitive and easy. I see this Printer lasting a Long Time!

GOOD COLOR LASER FOR THE PRICE

PRODUCT HLL3280CDW Brother Color Printer with Laser Quality Output GOOD COLOR LASER FOR THE PRICE The HLL3280CDW is a good value-based color laser printer. The color output is above average. It was easy to setup (wireless), and is relatively compact. The printer is fast and quiet. In terms of photo printing on plain paper, it was a little behind our other leading brand color laser, and a little behind our leading brand color ink jet. The colors a tiny bit duller, but still good overall. There are also more noticeable artifacts in the image than my other printers. All that being said, this is also about 30% less expensive for the printer and the color toner for this Brother HLL3280CDW is about 50% less expensive than the leading brand. Overall it is a fair compromise (about 10% less photo quality for 50% savings). SIDE NOTE ON CRAFTING One item does not allow us to use this as we intended (for crafting). It does not support card stock thick paper. The specs say the limit is 43lb paper and crafting paper is 90-100lbs. We did run a 90lb paper through the manual feed and it worked, but was extremely curled with noticeable banding. SUMMARY In summary, it is a good every day printer and a decent value in cost and supplies.

Terrible for Printing Color Product Labels

This printer is horrible for printing product labels. It prints on regular paper great but when I printed the labels it turned out horrible. The labels are for laser printers, but apparently it doesn't support what I need to do. I just purchased it 2 days ago. I'm going to return it and try the Epson Inkjet. I purchased this printer because of the reviews. The first pic is printed on regular paper. 2nd pic is printed on laser label paper.

Feature rich printer that consistently works

I've purchased a few different printers in the past, but I have always ended up with my dependable Brother printer from 2007. I know it's going to work flawlessly, where other printers have assorted jams and connectivity issues. I recently decided to upgrade for my home office as I have had many large reports to print for meetings as well as kids who needed a printer for school projects. While I didn't "need" an upgrade, I'm really glad that I did. The Brother HL-L3280CDW Printer is a work horse -- it has a lot of great features but not only does it work, it's FAST. I didn't consider how much time I was waiting for my printouts until I received my upgraded Brother printer -- I have 20+ page reports that are complete within a minute. Additionally, while reviewing my reports, I like to print 4 pages onto one sheet to make my review easier. The print quality with this much smaller font size is perfect. These are my favorite aspects of this printer -- and while it has many other great features (touch screen menu, print from phone, large print tray, toner delivery service), I'll focus on these specific items that make it the best printer I've used (home or office) in many years. 1. It just works -- I entered the wifi code on the touch screen. On my laptop, I said "Find Printer" - done. Easy. Zero complications. 2. It has dual-band wi-fi connectivity. My old printer was one of the few items that used the lower band of my router -- it's just nice to have full security and as many items as possible on the 5Ghz band. 3. Print quality is perfect. I have even printed 6 pages to a sheet and each number comes out perfect (small but perfect). This helps to keep my toner costs down immensely. I can even dial down the print quality or print only Black and White to further conserve toner. 4. Speed --- it prints nearly 30 pages per minute -- exceptionally fast. 5. Duplex printing helps for meetings. 6. Size -- this printer takes up about 1 cubic foot of space -- it's nearly identical to my old 15 year old printer -- this is a huge benefit over many printers which are too big/bulky for my office. The HL-L3280CDW Brother Printer is a sleek looking, compact printer that goes head to head with much larger and louder printers -- and best of all, works every time.

    Fantastic Print from Anywhere Printer

I was in need od a new home/small office printer and decided to give this a try. I was drawn to its compact size. And so far I am very happy with the performance of this printer. Out Of The Box: Okay, if this is your first printer unboxing, be sure to follow the quick start guide for set by step instructions. There are several places you need to pull off blue tape that is holding the drawers and doors down during shipping. But also you need to prepare the toner before you can print (simply remove the plastic packing end caps). As long as you follow the steps in order you will be fine, it is easy. It can look daunting at first but it is super easy and the quick start guide walks you through what to do. Setting Up The Printer: Once you have the printer ready to go, you will want to download the Mobile app to your smartphone. There is a handy dandy QR code on the printer to help direct you to the correct app. If you have not set up a Brother account before you will need to do that as part of your setup process. It is easy and simply requires a valid email and proper password. The APP will guide you through the rest of the setup. One issue I did have during the set up, was on the app once of the first screens (once it had identified my printer) was to set it up to the home wireless. I thought I could do it from the app but it did not work for me. SO no biggie, I simply used the touch screen ON THE PRINTER itself to connect the printer to my home network. Again this was easy but I did have to do it from the printer itself. Once connected to the home network the printer did want to download a new software update. So I would recommend doing that now while you continue to get the app settings as you like them. Part of the app setup you will be walked through the steps to also set up your account so you can PRINT FROM ALMOST ANYWHERE. I am not exactly sure yet why I would want to print something to my home printer if I am not actually at home but I do appreciate it is an option. Once the software update is complete and you finish setting up the mobile app you are ready to print. Oh it also comes with a 4 month free ink refresh subscription. I did not sign up for that at this time, I will try it later. Using The Printer: If you ever forget how to use a certain feature or want to know more about what the printer can do, there is a really nice interactive website from Brother that has the manual. The first page I printed was from my mobile device. My device located the printer immediately and I was able to print without issue. I felt like it took several seconds to transmit the item (a web page) from my mobile phone to the printer but it wasn’t too long and then my page was printed. The documentation states it can print 27 pages per minute with automatic duplexing. This printer support sprinting from cloud based apps like Google Drive and Dropbox. Next I tried printing from my laptop and again I was able to select the printer instantly and begin printing. The copies come out amazing and the colors are stunning. I have no complaints or issues, this is a fantastic and compact printer that should meet any home or small business need.

Great Home or SOHO Full Color Duplex Laser Printer

First impressions - After opening the box, I was greeted with a well packed printer with a containment bag that actually has handles - a first for any printer I have unpacked. This well thought out packing means it's not a large struggle to remove this heavy printer from it's box. After removing the bag, cord, manuals and various pieces of fixing tape - I put it on my standing desk to get measurements for it's final installation. Notably I have included a few pictures with a ruler for reference. The right side requires some clearance for the fan and front and rear clearance will be needed for loading media and paper. I connected the printer via USB initially to configure various settings provided by the installation software. Overall Use - Once setup, I relocated the printer to it's permanent home - a filing cabinet top next to a corner desk. We have multiple devices around out household including Windows, Mac, Android, IOS and chrome. We have printed from all of these devices without any issue. The chromebook "found" the printer almost instantly which is a plus for us given past issues with chromebooks and printing. Color - It prints full color efficiently and quickly. I sent a few photos along at highest photo quality and the results were out in under 20-30 seconds each. Notably these are prints that "choke" our megatank inkjet and take up to two minutes each on another printer. Text and text with graphics process and print almost instantly. I printed a 20 page full color manual ( duplexed ) and it finished in under two minutes. Onboard Display - The onboard touch screen works extremely well. I would love to call this out as some of our past printers that had a display . . .should not have bothered. The menu system on this printer is easy to navigate and responds accurately. What I love- - Loads Letter or legal size without an add on tray and also prints card stock and envelopes ! - I was able to print from everything we own AND Google drive. - 250 Sheet capacity so I can be lazy and put an entire pack of paper in at once ! Could be improved - - Please include a longer power cord with printers that target SOHO and home use.

I have had the unfortunate experience of alot of printers from my business, from home, from children breaking printers, etc. Gone through quite a bit. I also do prints from my old Canon Mark 5D Mark II SLR here and there, and I have 2 other competitive laser printers at work and home as comparison. This color laser printer has one of the fastest and best color prints on normal paper I've ever seen. The set up was very easy, although the instructional pictures were a little confusing as it did not show the orientation, the cartridges only fit one way so can't go wrong there. Be aware it only includes power cable, does not include a printer cable (does have a printer port, just doesn't come with the cable). And set up was easy either with your phone or just following the LCD screen instruction. For the actual printing, the speed is amazing. Going from the printer asleep, to holding a full sized photo print on normal paper, took roughly 43 seconds. Does not seem impressive but in printer world that's pretty fast. It gets even more impressive if you print in bulk, I printed 15 different full sized photos, took about 7 minutes if not less, that's VERY fast. I did not test text document printing, but I would be surprised if it was slower than the advertised 27ppm given how fast the photo prints were. Now being fast is one aspect, but the actual output is also VERY impressive. I have 4 other printers from work and home, and I have to say from a macroscopic review, it is likely the best output. The text is super crisp, you can see the edges of the text on the images I've uploaded. The curves around the text are sharp, you'll only find artifacts under near microscopic levels, which to be fair is likely from the cheap paper I used from the office. Where it's even more impressive is the graphic/photo output on normal paper. See the images I've uploaded; this is probably the best on normal paper from a laser printer I've ever seen. The colors are slightly low contrast but after some adjustments, the colors pop impressively. Colors were also accurate, and again, the borders were very impressive. See images uploaded. Some of the diffusion patterns were visible, and less impressive, but only when closely scrutinized. Which is what I would expect from regular paper any way. Keep in mind this is not ink and not photopaper. I don't think you can get any better on regular paper than this. From the easy set up, the best in class speed, while maintaining likely the best laser color reproduction prints on a consumer level, I don't foresee a better printer for a long time. Highly highly recommend it.

    An affordable large capacity printer!

Currently having a printer is practically indispensable when it comes to home office or if you have a small business and even more important is to optimize and economize in this area. The ideal is a balance between a printer that is durable, that executes its work effectively and fast, and preferably at the lowest possible cost, since it is a tool that in some cases can be used most of the day every day. This Brother HL-L3280 color printer manages to balance the above mentioned aspects very well. In the box comes the printer, power cord, guides and documentation. The unboxing is quite easy although I must admit that the printer is a bit heavy, however this is compensated in its performance. The ink cartridges, which in this case are 4, Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow, come preinstalled in the printer but you have to remove some plastic and security stickers to complete the installation. Then it is necessary to install an app on the cell phone to configure the printer, the same app will indicate the steps to follow to complete this task. Once the printer is connected to the network and configured and registered in the app, you can start printing. It is also possible to connect to a computer via Ethernet or USB. On the top right side the printer theres a 2.7" LED screen from which you can access the settings and print options, it is a well-lit screen that respons very well to the touch and has very intuitive menus, it is easy to use. Regarding the performance I consider it a product that fulfills very well with the tasks and functions for which it was designed. It prints relatively fast, although what I have noticed is that when documents are sent from a mobile device either from the Brother app Mobile Connect or from Apple Print (iOS devices) it takes a little time to receive the document and start printing but once it receives the files printing is quite fast even in full color, the ink quality and color representation is very good. By default the two-sided printing function is activated which in many cases helps to save paper, although one of the things that is recommended is to activate the black and white printing as default to avoid printing color documents unnecessarily and thus activate or select the option to print in color only when it is really necessary. I have been checking the price and durability of the replacement cartridges and it seems a bit ironic but depending on what capacity we want to buy, replacing all the cartridges could be a bit more expensive than buying another new printer, for this reason opting for the Refresh Subscription seems the best alternative as it promises to save up to 50% on ink, of course this will depend on the use of the printer and the needs of each user but in the case of small businesses or for those who do home office I think it is the most convenient, plus the printer comes with a 4 month free trial which makes it even more attractive option. The paper tray has a capacity of 250 sheets and the printer can print up to 27 ppm. One feature that I consider important is that this printer can be connected via WiFi in either 2.4GHz or 5GHz band which is very useful when you have 5GHz band compatible devices connected to a single network. If you have cloud services such as Google Drive, Evernote, Dropbox, etc., you can connect to the printer to print from these services. It is also possible to print remotely via email or web, the files are sent to the printer to later enter the password given by the system to be able to print the files that were sent remotely. Something to consider si that this printer only prints, does not scan or copy, so if you need these features in your printer this is not for you. Also to consider that even though it is a relatively compact printer it is a bit heavy 34 lbs, so it is important to have a place to install it to avoid continually moving it. In conclusion I can say that this is a solid product that satisfactorily fulfills its purpose which is to print, either in black and white or color, including photographs, the print quality is very good. Being a printer that has cartridges that can last up to 3000 prints, it is a recommended product for those who work from home or have a small business. If you need a printer (that only prints) of medium capacity and that prints a lot of documents quickly, this is an alternative that I can recommend.

So, I brought this printer in to the office and even though this isn't my first or even 3rd Brothers printer, it is the first one that my office has ever used. Needless to say, that as soon as they saw the printer iink cartridges, the office started thinking of how expensive this machine was going to be to maintain. Out of the box, you'll get greeted with the fully loaded printer. ( ink already installed) sans the fact of there mbeing a ton of tape and paper to remove, before use. Oh! And a bean bag for freshness. Through all of that out and download the Brothers app, because you're gonna be printing for days and days, form your company PCs and mobile devices. It doesn't take much to set up. Every piece of tech has a QR code toscan now nowadays, so be ready for that. The ink, which is the main concern, isn't really that bad, price-wise after you factor in how much work can get done using the cartridges that you start with. And of course, you can schedule new ink to be delivered to your office door before you run out. Or you can just go pick some up if you're in a bind. I'd recommend ordering after the first week just so you don't get caught with no ink in a pinch. It fast and it looks good in the new office area, so that itself makes everyone here happy. The workload says it can accommodate and office of upto 99 employees. But that isn't a problem for my office of 15 main printer users. This thing is great. The president really loves this compared to the other brand that we just replaced.

This is my first printer of this type and I am very impressed with the ease of set up and the printing speed. In my other printers I would hear them moving back and forth as they printed but with this Brother machine, all I hear is the paper moving, if that, Apparently it found my wifi and connected to it as soon as I turned it on because I didn't have to type in a password. I am very impressed!

Setup was super easy, the most complicated part was finding all the blue tape holding the trays and doors closed. Plugged it in and was able to connect to my wifi easily. My computers have found it on our network without any issue. Printing is super quiet; if there's a fan or other noise in the room you can't even hear it run. Print jobs are very smooth; maybe a bit light but that's likely just an economy setting.

This is a great printer overall. It is quick and the printouts are clear with excellent color. So far there is only one issue that keeps me from giving it 5 stars. I do a lot of printing on card stock - business cards, greeting cards, etc. The printer makes the media curl a lot. I have tried bending it back by hand (business cards) and letting it sit overnight with heavy books on top of the stack of printouts. That works OK, but it is a bit of a pain and id I need the prints right away it's very inconvenient. Other than that issue have only good things to say about the printer. I find it to be much better than the HP MFP M281cdw it is replacing, except for the page curling.

only recently installed but I'm impressed. Brother gives you the option of downloading just the drivers or their entire suite of software. I choose the drivers as I had no need for the rest of the software which is often intrusive. Wifi setup went very quickly. I selected my wifi network and typed in the password and that was it. In windows I went to Add Printer and it immediately found it on the wifi network. Then it was a simple matter following the setup wizard. I printed a color photo just as a test and it worked just fine. I realize this printer isn't intended to print photos but I wanted to see how it looked. So far I am a happy camper and I intend to but 3rd party toner as recommended by users on reddit.

I'm biased because I've been a Brother fan for decades, since Brazil. I bought an MFC-J985DW 7 years ago, and it still works like new, wonderful. But I needed one with laser printing. They recommended EPSON to me, I bought it and returned it within 1 week, it doesn't deliver what it promises and it's full of "Don't touch me". I got the Brother, paid less and the quality... oh my God, AMAZING! I learned my lesson, in my office and in my house, only BROTHER is allowed!

This printer was bought as replacement for an old laser printer that was at the end of its life. I like that it will not stop me printing, from what I understand, when it gets to the point where the printer software tells me it is empty. We all know that the toner still has a long way to go before it is actually empty. The prints and the color are just what I expect from a brand name. I also like that it prints double sided without human intervention.
