Customers frequently mention the excellent print quality and ease of use of the MFC-J6555DW printer. Many appreciate the straightforward setup process and the convenient dual paper trays for different paper sizes. However, some users find the printer's large size to be a drawback, and a few have noted that the scanning software could be improved. Overall, the positive feedback on print quality and ease of use outweighs the concerns about size and scanning capabilities.

Incompatible with ARM based processors and brother's support attempts is slow to understand. Here are some suggestions to overcome the install issue: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/error-0x800f0214-when-installing-brother-mfc-8910/24c4b17a-c4ee-4155-8bde-4905e9caac10.
If you have a non-intel PC beware of the hassle associated with installation.

Great Business Printer

So far, I have been very happy with this printer. Some positives after using this printer for a couple of days.
Setup was incredibly easy. Plug the printer in. Install the cartridges in the front which made it very easy. Go through the setup steps on the touch screen and finally install the software on the computer. Everything went incredibly smooth, and I didn’t encounter any problems or had to troubleshoot anything.
Connecting to the Wi-Fi was easy and worked right away.
The software comes with some utilities and a print and scan program. You have the option of scanning from the utility software or from the touch screen on the printer. Strangely you can only set the dpi to a max of 600dpi from the touch screen whereas you can set it higher from the PC software.
The scanner and printer are very fast.
The ink cartridges are huge, and you can print 3000 B/W and 1500 color pages. The cartridge prices are on par with other printers that print far fewer pages.
There are a few downsides that really depend on your needs.
The printer is huge and heavy so make sure you have enough space to put it as it is way bigger than your average home printer.
The photo quality is reasonable but not great. This is probably since this is a business printer and not a home or photo printer, so you need to determine what your primary needs are.
The ADF is single sided so you can’t load a stack of double-sided pages and send it on its way. What’s worse is that you can’t load a stack of double-sided pages scan them all, flip over the stack and scan the other sides. The only ways to handle double sided pages is to do only one page/side at a time on the glass. When copying, you can put the pages on the document feeder, copy one side, then flip the pages over and place the pages down in the paper feed and copy those sides. It works but is more steps than I would like.
It is great printer keeping in mind that it is geared more for business and less for the home. Also keep in mind the limitations of the ADF and photo quality.

I would NOT recommend this product. I had already had manufacturer design/program problems with two HP all-in-one printers. And this one had something that just floored me.
There was a design/production failure in the area of the upper access door that prevented it from being close thus preventing the device from powering up and functioning. How does a production site miss something like this?!!!

Big Beautiful Printer

Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This is a beast of a printer - it's massive and heavy. Read the dimensions carefully to be sure you have enough room for this.
The printer is blindingly fast at printing text and small graphics - the fastest printer I have ever met. Quality for text is outstanding, not quite laser quality but darn close. Photo printer is it not. Good for the occasional picture, not good if you are going to print a lot of pictures (paper choices are - plain paper, inkjet, and glossy - an indication that this is not a photo printer). Scanning is surprisingly quick also, I blinked and missed a 4 x 6 scan at 300 dpi. Higher resolutions take a little longer, still it is darn fast.
The parts I don't like - if you aren't tech savvy, forget about setting up this printer. There are no easy to follow set of instructions. The software stinks for phone and Mac. It is a bunch of cobbled together pieces that don't work well together and are monumentally confusing. Instructions (I understand nobody does printed manuals anymore) are deplorable, including on the support website. Physical cable connections are buried inside the machine (what's wrong with ports on the case like everybody else).
The biggest bad thing - the paper tray loads in landscape. Yes, you put the paper in 90 degrees from the way any other printer in the world has ever done, and will ever do. I guess Brother decided wide is better than deep for the footprint. I disagree totally.
Some really well designed things. The ink is very easy to access behind a door on the front of the machine (go figure, ink tanks that are supposed to last forever "up to a year", are easy to change). The touchscreen is fantastic and easy to use. There's a beep indicating you left a document on the scanner glass (love that feature). The whole hinge mechanism for the scanner and inner parts of the printer is super well built. Ink levels are measured in pages left to print. The whole thing has a good clean design. It does AirPrint natively, meaning you could print to this from an iPhone or Mac with no additional software.
Some more cautions. The ink tanks included will print over 1,500 pages (standardized print out used to compare printers). If that is one year of printing, well then the box is correct "up to one year of ink included". I think thats a bit disingenuous, the tanks are starter / standard capacity, not one year of ink.
You'll need super long cables to physically connect this thing. The sockets are hidden inside and you lose about 1 foot of cable in routing through the machine. The ethernet jack orange plug (no idea why that is capped) is really hard to pull out.
Photo printing is good. If you have largish areas of black, the printer ends up with some red cast here and there, and there's slight banding. Casual prints, give to friends to see, on plain paper look good. Glossy prints are just fine. Color correction and contrast automatically applied by the machine works just fine on the average.
Ink pricing is decent. Expect to pay about the same as traditional cartridges, except the tanks are far bigger and print a lot more. Brother really really wants you to subscribe to ink.
All things considered, it is a good solid fast printer.

This is the fastest inkjet printer I have ever seen! It prints on vertically on letter-sized paper, which seemed a bit unique, but now I see why. The printhead makes fewer passes traveling in that orientation. Black and white text documents are printed in less than 3 seconds per page. Full color, fine detail, full-page photographs are printed in less than 30 seconds! Scanning to my phone is simple via the app. Simply set the document in the feeder or on the bed, hit scan in the app, and the image is uploaded to the phone a few seconds later. I have the machine connected to my network via Wi-Fi, but there are USB and ethernet ports available. Something else really unique is that the ports for the cords are under the scanner bed, in the front of the machine. Then there is routing for the cords to run cleanly out the back. It seemed odd at first, but it occurred to me that this allows a person to change or check cords without having to get behind the machine or pull it out from the wall. Someone should have thought of that years ago!
The setup is simple. Ink cartridges can only be loaded one way, and they enter via a panel right in front. After a few minutes, it is ready to complete the alignment and connect to the network. Since I chose wireless, a QR code appeared on the display. That directed me to the Brother app, which guided me through the connection process. As expected, it was simple and completed in about one minute. From there, the machine was already setup on my phone. When I told my computer to add a new printer, it instantly found the machine on the network and connected to it. There was no need to search (at least on my home network).
Overall, I am really impressed with this printer. It is fast, and the INKvestment system seems to work really well. I have another INKvestment printer that is now about two years old, and it is working just as well as the day I set it up. The ink lasts so much longer than traditional cartridges, and the print quality is excellent for everything I need. The one and only negative comment I have about this printer is that it is HUGE! The scanner bed is capable of scanning ledger paper. It should work great for scanning large documents, like diplomas. However, finding a place to put this machine could be a challenge for some people. I would highly recommend measuring where you hope to put it before you get it home and realize you have to buy new furniture.

Great printer and scanner!

I am loving this Brother inkjet printer! Despite it being the largest and most complex household printer I have interacted with yet, it has so far been the easiest to work with by far. The setup was very easy and it nearly set itself up by itself. The only thing I had to do was connect to my home network, add the ink and paper and tell it what paper I added, and scan the print test sheets. From the time I opened the box to the time I was printing something was 10 minutes at the most. A huge plus to the large size of this unit is the enormous built in scanner. When I opened the cover and saw the size of the scanner space my jaw literally dropped. It's the largest I have seen aside from maybe huge office printers, but even then this scanner may be larger. As a photographer who often scans and prints photos, this has me so excited! Loading the ink cartridges and adding paper to the tray is very easy, and the user interface on the screen seems great so far. There are no sensitivity issues and the screen size seems sufficient enough. The one thing I noticed is that the actual print job is a little slow compared to many other printers I have used, but the quality comes out great so I cannot complain about the amount of time it takes to print it. Considering it is an inkjet printer, I was also pretty happy with the actual photo printing capabilities of this printer. I tried printing a few 4x6 glossy photos and they came out pretty decent. I would not buy this as a photo printer though, the quality is not there to for it to be a mainly photo printer. Also took me a few tries to learn that the 4x6 photos needed to be put in upside down in order to be printed on the correct side, I made that mistake easily. Overall this printer is excellent for most households and if scanner size is a priority for you, this is an excellent option!
