A printer with a great build quality

This laser printer impresses with its robust build quality. It's a solid, weighty machine that inspires confidence. The touchscreen interface is another plus, offering a smooth and responsive user experience. While the print quality is perfectly adequate for text documents, it's less impressive when it comes to photos. For those prioritizing photo printing, an inkjet printer remains the superior option. A word of caution: I strongly recommend picking this printer up in-store if possible. Due to the size and weight of the packaging, shipping can be risky. My first printer arrived damaged by UPS during transit, as shown in the accompanying photos. The replacement printer it had less damage to the box. Special thanks to Bestbuy by sending me a replacement very fast!

Prints and scans great - Copies are awful!

Sorry to have to leave such a low review. Big expensive printer, super excited to get it. It did everything great as far as printing and scanning, but when I copied something it a bit blurry and washed out. Called Geek squad and they were great but couldn't fix the issue. They said it was a hardware issue (if the problem was with the printer or scanner it would have been an issue with the drivers, but the copier was hardware). They sent a replacement printer and I received it with the same exact issue. This time I dealt with Brother Tech Support, it got elevated, then elevated again, no fix. Worst support experience ever and I am 60 years old. They repeatedly told me they would call me back and never did. I'm done with Brother. Back to HP for me. :0/

I just purchased this Brother MFC-L8900CDW to replace my 3-year old Canon imageCLASS MF8280CW which had started to short out, resetting itself over and over, making it impossible to get a small 15-page print job completed without jamming! Hindsight being 20/20, I really did my research this time around when looking for a replacement color laser multi function printer. Faster, more efficient, higher quality, significantly more/better features. FOUND IT!! I Just received this Brother MFC-L8900CDW 2 days ago and can honestly say that I’m actually giddy about this printer! Print quality is great. Scan quality and speed is spectacular. Having the ability to scan to PDF, editable PDF, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and HTML has to be one of my FAVORITE and unexpected features. Really totally cool —- and something I will use! The 2-sided single pass scanning is lightning fast. My old Canon couldn’t scan to email. Only scan option was scan to PC which had to be done through their antiquated app. I’m talking 1995 level of technology in their app. I am nostalgic about the 90’s and all but NOT when it comes to technology. Scan file format options w/ Canon was horrifically limited to image files. The scan process was slow and brutally painful. Scanning was such a miserable process that I kept my old HP inkjet for the sole purpose of quick user friendly scans to email. Now, I’m able to shed the old HP as the Brother far surpasses the speed, quality and ease of scanning to email! Auto duplex printing is great... something my Canon couldn’t do. The option to purchase true ultra high capacity toner cartridges (6,500 pages in black and all 3 colors) will save me $$$$. While the upfront cost of the high capacity cartridges is much more, I will be saving BIG in the longer term. Canon color cost 0.06 vs Brother color cost of 0.027 and Canon B&W cost of 0.033 vs Brother B&W cost of 0.013. The added benefit of purchasing the TN436 means I can go way longer before I need to replace and less instances of running out then freaking out to get a new cartridge to finish a project. Seriously, I felt like I was running out of toner in the Canon once a month when printing < 1000 pages of varying color and B&W. I question actual capacity of Cannon’s stated capacity. When the Canon said low, that was it. No shaking and replacing to get more life despite the fact that is exactly what the printer told you to do. That NEVER worked. The first error that toner was low, you were done! Canon did not offer high capacity cartridges for color, only offered for black and their “high capacity” meant 2,500 where Brother offers 6,500. Again, I am giddy with delight over this purchase and drastic upgrade to my print/scan/copy game!

Excellent office essential. After trying to make a work horse out of a smaller printer for a home office I finally gave in to the right size equipment for the amount of work I need to accomplish. I am now asking myself why did I struggle for so long with an ineffective cheaper model that could never produce the qualities quantity of printing, faxing, and scanning task I needed to accomplish. I now see why our technology company highly recommended this product to me. I wish I have listened and invested in it years earlier. No more frustrating paper jams and running out of ink all the time. Good bye to cheaper plastic printers. Well worth the investment and area it takes up!

I have had ink cartridge printers up until now and tired of the lack of printers qualities they left me with. The manufactures kept giving me fixes to make their products work the way they said that they do. I finally bit the bullet and put out more cash.
The Brother MFC-L8900CDW cost more than the all in one's that I had been buying but so far, has given me excellent printouts and photos. Being a laser printer, I expect to get many years and thousands of prints in the years to come.
I have only had my new Brother for about 3 weeks. the set up was easy and only took about 1 hour to get it ready on 4 PC's and cell phones. The PC's with Windows 7 were a slight challenge but are talking to it like they are supposed to.
Being a laser, it takes a few seconds to warm up before the print job starts but that is just a lasers characteristic.
I will update this if I find this to be a boondoggle testament.

Great printer but pages curl too much

We replaced a Lexmark printer with this Brother multi-function printer. The pages look amazing when printed! It is fast and pretty quiet. Once you figure out how to scan (a little cumbersome at first) then it is pretty easy going forward.
The only problem we have found with it is the pages curl too much when printing and they start jamming up in the output tray if you don't keep an eye on the printing and remove them as they print. This curling also pushes pages on to the floor. My Lexmark had never done that.

Very Frastrated with Color Issues

Since the day I purchased the printer, the colors were completely off. I tried calling customer support. I was asked to send the pictures showing the colors. I have provided the pictures that I printed at work, and then the ones printed on my printer. My face on the pictures that I have printed on this printer is red. The whole print out has a red hue to it. After running some diagnostics, the representative led me through the steps to fix the problem. When it didnt'work the email I got said "Unfortunately, we don't have additional steps to follow at this time. We recommend you try printing your document with different settings to get the desired print quality." So the expert could not resolve it and just told me to try different settings. Would've been funny, if the printer was not that expensive. After that statement followed another one along with my thread "I just double-checked and based on the information provided, this issue it's related to your toner cartridges.
Can you please specify when and where the toner cartridges were purchased from?
Lara Tabidze: I believe toner cartridges came with the machine. What is the issue with them
Lara Tabidze: I believe toner cartridges came with the machine. What is the issue with them
Lara Tabidze: I havepurchase the printer from office Depot, I believe
German: Based on the troubleshooting the error appears to be toner related. A manual toner life reset was performed on the black and magenta toner cartridge. The toner has now been used past its expected operating life and is now failing. The toner will need to be replaced with a new genuine Brother toner."
But the toner came with the printer, and WAS a genuine Brother Toner" I still have this expensive machine that is not performing.
My review is based taking into consideration the following:
Value: Lost value due to color issues
Quality: Can't use color, but the rest of the printing OK. 2 Stars because I print mostly in color
Ease of luse: Good It is easy to set up, and easy to use
Will not recommend because of the color issues I am still having, and the customer support not being able to resolve them.

I needed a decent home printer for my consulting business. I needed something that had decent capacity and service life with printing and scanning capability. It also had to support wifi connectivity.
I've used HP and Canon printers for decades and I've never been happy. Hard to set up or poor customer support.
After months of research I settled on this machine. I had to wait for it to come back in stock but I'm happy I waited.
Set up was a breeze. I followed the instructions and it connected to my wifi with no issues. All of my devices can print to it. Quality is very good.
Scanning directly to google drive works flawlessly as well.
I would recommend this printer.

This printer hasn’t failed to meet my expectations. It’s reliable workhorse printer. Prints quickly—there is a pause before printing starts. Paper jams are infrequent, but the LCD screen walks me through how to clear it. Using menus, the printer will print a fax cover sheet and other standard business forms. I just discovered I can scan documents to be saved in Evernote or Dropbox—a great solution for dealing with documents. Plus, it offers two-sided printing and scanning.

I have been a Brother printer user for many years now, and when my last printer finally died after maybe 5 years of use, I chose the MFC-L89CDW because I wanted another color laser printer for my small office.
I am very happy with MFC-L89CDW. The print quality is excellent, and since my last machine was similar my learning curve has been minimal.
PROs: It's quiet, the print quality is very high, and best of all, the (repulsively expensive) toner lasts a really really long time!! And that's a big deal, since let's face it, we all know that we pay for the printer many times over when we buy the toner. Comparing the toner usage to my last Brother printer (which was also a color laser all-in-one), these new cartridges cost about 1.5 times as much, but so far I think I am getting at least 3x or 4x the usage out of them. It's a noticeable improvement.
CONS: It's a little larger than my last printer and it is very heavy, but that's really no big deal. It is a little slow receiving the info and starting to print. I will probably get used to the delay but after 3 weeks I still am "waiting for it" and then it starts to print. Once it receives the info and starts printing it's quite fast.

This is an amazing printer for home office use. It prints fast, it has double sided scanning and you can leave any amount of pages in the feesing tray and it will pull them to scan them for you. It has multiple paper feeding casettes which helps so you can use each casette for one size of paper and do not have to constantly get up to switch it. Printing quality is amazing! Even though it can print photos it is not the best photo printer. I would recommend having a differen inkjet printer for photos if that’s something you love to do.

Great Machine! I had a Brother all in one for 9 years and it was time to be replaced. I decided to switch brands because I was impatient and wanted it immediately, rather than ordering one. Big mistake, I spent 2 weeks using the other brand and had enough. I ordered this one on line, it was delivered earlier than expected, set it up in 30 minutes and I’m back to being in business and loving the quality, quietness and overall performance of this machine!

This printer is great. Color printing is amazing. Its not photo quality but its really close. We got this because of covid and having my daughter at home for school needed another printer. Always wanted a color laser printer and finally purchased one. I'm glad I didn't wait any longer. The only negative I would have to say is the first page print takes a few seconds longer then what I'm use to. If printing multiple pages that averages out and isn't an issue when doing the math of total pages. Scanner works great. Haven't really tested the fax part of this printer but its great to know i have that as an option if ever needed.

The max daddy of printers. It is reasonably fast, It does it all and it is reliable. The only drawback is the price of the cartridge replacement. The good thing is that they print a thousand or more pages before they run out. It is a wireless so I can print from my phone, my laptop or my tablet.
It has good color but this isn't a photo printer so if that is what you want, not this one. If you print tons of written work with some illustrations, it works well.
I've has this for quite some time and haven't had a problem yet.

Replaced a MFC-8850cdw. The are both great printers. Older one was easier to connect to network, but once finally connected it is fast. Great color. Scan to USB is faster than previous. Overall great printer.
