This printer was such a good choice over the one it replaced. Quick and quiet. The only issue I had was seeing the prompts in the little window to pair the WiFi for a wireless connection. This was challenging because it was dark and hard to see. Great once I did it!

So this will be in two parts: The printer itself, and the warranty process with Canon. (I have owned this printer model over 1 year as of now) Unlike HP, Canon still provides simple, functional printer drivers that are easy to download, install, and get you going. No broken website pages or website dysfunction like HP has. It includes a power cable, usb cable and a printed manual in the box. Also, if you look at the price per page for the 071H toner on this printer, there is nothing from HP that can beat it for a non commercial printer, AND, unlike Brother, there are no drum units to worry about. Also, even amongst other small Canon printers, the cost per page on the 071H toner is better per page than the 128 and other toners they have been using for probably a decade or more. Unlike HP, no subscriptions, accounts, "smart" software, apps, etc. that they try to push you into. You simply unbox the printer, plug it in, and it works. With a Mac, you don't even need to install a driver if using it with a network cable or as a network printer. I haven't tried it yet, but linux compatibility appears there. I think it was listed somewhere as linux compatible. If as usb, then yes, driver first and maybe a hair of complication if using linux. Canon really has the most stable drivers I have seen from any printers. While this will not print sharper resolution 1200x1200 dpi, at 600x600 dpi everything comes out clear. It prints immediately, is very quiet when printing, and when not printing, stays silent 100% of the time and in standby mode. Double sided prints well without issue. While I wish it came in white, I can make that sacrifice as it is a small, cubic, clean looking printer from an appearance standpoint and easy to put something small on it such as a small Epson or Brother stack sheet scanner, for example. My issue and how Canon went above my expectations and fixed it: Last week, about 5 days after the warranty expired, the printer would get stuck on the startup sequence and just freeze, with the little lcd screen showing a loading bar at 1/4 of the load. There was nothing that could be done. My research online suggested it is when the wifi connection glitches, and potentially can freeze the printer during startup, but resetting the router and starting up with the router off did not solve the issue. So, it was basically bricked. I actually ordered a new one right away thinking I would not get anywhere with the warranty but that was the exact opposite of what happened. I called Canon's warranty/support number, there was a prompt, I told it my issue, and it immediately routed me to a human, in America, to help. He asked when I purchased it, and asked for the receipt to be emailed. I had thought I was within the 1 year mark, but it was actually 5 days after once I saw the receipt. He let it slide since it was close. I then explained the problem, he asked me some follow up questions, quickly recognized the printer was indeed dead, and then got my address, number, name, etc. and told me they would ship a refurbished one to me with UPS next day so I should have it within 48 hours. All I had to do was put the old one in the box, put their prepaid label on it, and ship it back. Literally that simple. But it got EVEN BETTER. He said it would not come with any parts or toner, so I just use the cables and toner from my existing printer and put it in the one they send. The one they sent was NOT refurbished, it was BRAND NEW and came with a starter toner as well, on time, within 2 days like he said it would. I shipped it back, my new printer is working, and all is well. I have never dealt with a technology company for either printers, computers, etc. that had this level of service, efficiency, and above and beyond experience. As is the case with any network technology, for best results and lowest risk of future issue, if you can do a cable network connection vs wireless, much more reliable and problem, free. Side note, I am a 15 year computer repair guy, I and my family own 10 laptops, 8 printers, etc. and I setup and recommend printers and computers for clients all the time. I have always recommended Canon once HP went down the toilet with printers, driver issues, all the stupid account/subscription crap (you cannot (or have to struggle to) use the small HP all in ones to make a copy unless it is on the network / logged into your account, for example). Brother laser is great/never has issues/lasts forever, but the drum requirement makes it a little inconvenient and a hair higher per print toner-wise. (Personal preference/qualm on my end though). I have a number of clients using 6+ year old Canon printers. You will note with Canon, that the style and printers are still made very very close to how they were 10 years ago, with thing like a belt driven scanning light vs the plastic gear driven one HP was the first to go to. While not always the most stylish printers, they are truly built exceptionally close to the way printers used to be built and very reliable.

Pros - works well when it works, but reading the screen is difficult as it is not backlit. In addition, it consistently goes offline and has to be reconnected to wireless network. That said, when connected to my phone/ipad's internet network, it will print and the quality is good.

Always ready and prints perfect from my iMac or iPhone. Very pleased with my purchase. Using the macOS User Guide for my macOS for adding a printer was very helpful. The Canon UsersGuide and Set Up guide was much easier to follow than the little booklet included. The Canon PRINT app is what worked on my iPhone.

The printer works well and was easy to set up and connect to my computer on my wi-fi. It prints double-sided which is a nice bonus. It came with a starter cartridge which googling showed works for 3,000 pages. The downsides I have with the printer are 1) it is difficult to use the screen because its small, 2) when I try to print from my phone, it doesnt work and gives a no paper error. Overall, I am satisfied with it.

I originally purchased a low end Canon printer and had trouble connecting it to the internet. I returned it and the sales person recommended this Brother printer. I 've only had it a month, but it was easy to hookup and the printed copies are as good or better that the laser copies from the HP machine I had prior to this machine. It is easy to use!

The printer is very good and reasonably quiet. I don't like that the tray stays open. That limits the storage options. The Wi-Fi setting is a great option, but the setup is cumbersome. I was able to print from iPhone, MacBook, and PC.

Seems to work ok. I've only used it a couple times. I made the mistake of thinking it included a copier. Didn't realize this till I wanted to make a copy. Too late to exchange it as it was already hooked up. My mistake.
