I bought this product originally in May. It was not available in store and any of the local Best Buy locations near me, but was available at several of the Orlando locations. I bought online for pick up at one of the Orlando locations and made the hour plus drive each way to go and pick up. The in store pickup was a smooth transaction like previous in store transactions have been. Got home, and the set up was relatively easy and straight forward, which was welcomed. Product performed flawlessly for the first few days. Then I started having issues. This combo unit was purchased to replace a individual modem an individual router that was causing me. issues. When this unit started giving me issues about 12 into having, it lead me to believe that my problems may actually be Century Link related and not hardware related. Called Century Link repair service. It took a couple days for them to actually come out and investigate. They determined that the issue was indeed hardware related and not a line issue. Unfortunately by the time this was determined, my modem/router was just past the 14 return window. I wasn't aware of the 14 day return policy on this item until I called Best Buy to see what my return options were without having to make the long drive back to Orlando. After listening to my problem and some great customer service work by the Best Buy staff, they made an exception for return and provided me a shipping label to their return center. I actually just wanted a replacement unit, but because of the exception outside of the normal return unit that was not possible. I had to physically go and reorder the product after they received the defective unit and waited for my account to be credited. I did reorder the product, this time knowing the 14 day return policy and being hesitant over the previous issue, I added the 2 year protection plan to my purchase just to be safe. I had the item shipped to my house. It arrived quickly in 2 days. Once again the setup was easy and straight forward. We are about a month into ownership and so far eveything is running fine. So that leads me to my title line; Mixed Feelings. Long term I really don't know how this unit will perform. Short term, the setup was very easy and when it is working it works great. Hopefully the first unit was just defective. Either way, this time I am covered for 2 years. Although I feel the Best Buy 14 day return window should be at least 30 days, I do appreciate them listening to my situation and taking my long time customer purchasing history into account to help me return my original defective unit. Overall, I have always received exceptional customer service from Best Buy over the years and this has kept me coming back for my electronic and appliance purchases.

This unit replaced an older Quest modem and a Netgear router. It is easy to connect and now takes up less real estate on my desk. It also permits me to take advantage of the new, higher speed internet we recently signed up for.

This purchase was to replace the original equipment modem supplied by the service provider. It would take much too long to power on and a replacement could be rented or purchased plus shipping fees. I went ahead and purchased from BEST BUY the same unit they offered as a replacement without the extra shipping fee. It replaces a separate wireless router also so now there is one unit doing both tasks. I believe it has been a improvement speed wise overall and the only problem has been a occasional problem with the unit talking to my wireless HP printer.

I bought this modem+router recently, after I realized that CenturyLink was offering me an older version for the same price! It was easy to know that this was going to be compatible; it says CenturyLink on the product! Installation has an easy interface. I live in a mid-sized townhome, and I've set up the modem+router in the lower level, middle room. I get excellent connectivity in every room despite - I cannot possibly complain about this part. The appearance does look somewhat old fashioned, but the device barely gets warm with use. 4.5 stars out of 5, with half a star off only for a overly practical design without much emphasis on style.

Decent modem/router for CenturyLink, one big flaw

This modem/router is easy to set up and has a pretty good management interface. It's been very reliable. My only significant complaint is that I wish it had external wireless antennas. My last two routers easily reached every room in my house with a good signal. This one does not get a usable signal through the tile walls of my bathroom. Good choice for anyone with a compact house made of building materials that are not challenging. Potentially problematic otherwise.

Good solid DSL modem for CenturyLink

I wanted a new DSL modem compatible with my CenturyLink service. I looked at some modems and decided this one had the features I wanted and the reviews were good. My old Westell modem was giving me a lot of disconnects after I increased my speed. This new modem needed some help setting it up. I called CenturyLink's internet hotline and they helped me complete the setup. It's been a very solid reliable performer so far. I'd recommend it to others if you have CenturyLink and DSL.

When we moved we had to upgrade our out of date modem, so we opted for this one as it had the router and modem in one. It was really easy to setup and we have a two story and I can get a great signal everywhere in the house and even in the garage and yard. Overall I am very happy with this purchase.

I have had my modem for 1 month and it still has a strange electrical smell like something is not right. It gets hot at the back where wire is plugged in. I thought it was a new electrical smell and would go away but has not. It works wonderfully and have enjoyed using it. I am just a little worried about the weird smell almost like wires overheating. The wires plugged in the back are cool. At first thought it was just new electric smell but not sure now. As far as performance I highly recommend it.

Due to where I live the only option I have for internet is DSL from the local telephone company. So I had to go with a DSL modem. Best Buy only offered two options and so I purchased the Century Link model. I have had one before so I went with the one I am familiar with.
It works well with the area I am in. It was simple to setup and I was on line within an hour. It doesn't have an external antenna so its range isn't that good. But it works well for what I use it for

CenturyLink is my phone service provider and when I spotted the CenturyLink Router/Modem at Best Buy, I hoped this would be the easiest way to set up a wireless capability for my son's computer at his apartment. The accompanying printed set-up directions were straightforward and easy to follow. While there was one glitch that needed to be resolved before the system was tested, the phone support provided walked me through a troubleshooting routine without a lot of unfamiliar jargon and we were operating in short order. The system has worked flawlessly since then and we're completely satisfied with the modem/router's performance.

I've used this router in my vacation home since Nov. 2014 (2 months). I receive the fast speed as promised, my complaint is it's range. The router is placed in the great room but I have trouble receiving wifi when I step from the mud room into the garage. It's approximately 30 feet away, through 2 walls. If you have internet service through Century Link, buying this modem is better financially than leasing.

The company I work for had a 15 year old modem from Qwest and believe me it showed in performance (or lack thereof). I finally made the decision to upgrade the modem to the latest technology, and I wish I had done this monhths ago.
The modem is doing what it is supposed to. Consistent speeds, wireless capabilities, multiple ethernet connections. We can finanlyy have two or more people using the internet at the same time with no diminished capacity.
It's great. If you're on the fence whether it is worth the investment, be at peace and make the leap.

This device is great to use if you are up grading from the old one. Really easy to setup! The main reason we got this was to upgrade connectivity and to upgrade to the 802.1n protocol. It has worked out great so far and maintains all connections to all devices really well and doesn't drop off. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a all in one with their DSL internet!

This CenturyLink Modem/Router proved to be easy and straightforward to set up with the well-illustrated instruction sheet. (I was somewhat apprehensive about this because of an excruciating experience getting a DSL modem/router set up back in 2007.) Even though our house is a challenge for wifi due to a rambling layout and plaster walls with metal mesh in them, we get good signal strength throughout the interior and usable signal strength outside as well. With my previous router, I had to use a signal booster to do as well.

Fought and fought with centurylink over getting a new router modem but they refused to help without charging me more than they already have. So I did some research and found that a lot of people have tried this and highly recommend it. And yes it was the easiest modem to set up . And it works flawlessly too. Definitely would recommend this to a friend.

The purchase effort went very quickly. I approached a Best Buy associate who led me to the unit I purchased and I was out the door in less than 5 minutes. I installed the unit, went thru the registration procedure and was on-line in no time. The unit has met my expectations.

It is a great modem. Works up to 40 mbps. I have 25. The bigger issue is century link will lease you infinitely for 9.95 a month. Buy this instead, skip the lease payment, and buy the BestBuy 2 year extended warranty and you are saving money after 11 months. If it breaks after two years. You saved $130 and that's more than enough to buy a new one. If it doesn't break, you are saving even MORE money. Every month you hear, cha-ching, another $10 in my pocket!
