I only use this Dell 2-1 14" Chromebook for - All Things in the Google Universe (ecosystem), some other Play Store apps, social, internet, internet, internet and a writing app. I'm not doing 3-D modeling or heavy photoshop. Do I wish I had more money and purchased a Pixel Slate with an i5 or 17 and more memory, yes. This is 4 pounds and the keyboard if stuck to it. I would prefer something 2 lbs or under with a detachable keyboard and a faster processor for when I use demanding apps. So far however I have not had any issue. The outdated i3 processor is doing everything fast I have asked of it. I keep multiple applications open and 25 tabs without a hint of delay. Next time step up and spend some more coin, plus I had 10 minutes to decide as Best Buy was closing, I was in a hurry...After spending thousands on a mac (they have less expensive ones) this is great, just without Garageband, etc. I use the heck out of this and it has worked very well except the wifi range isn't spectacular, however I have an old single band router and an only one slow internet with poor maintenance and at 12mbps - in the middle of the desert. The battery life is excellent.
I am looking forward to a tablet in the future that does not have a fan, still stays cool and with a faster processor. I was told because this was solid state and did not have a fan, I must have misunderstood, it has a fan. Things with hinges will fail.
For the money it is so far so good. It was "on sale", isn't everything? I think some people who hate Windows like me, who like the Google cloud concept, and love the way this syncs to an android phone will like this set-up. It is like my mac before cat hair killed it and how it synced with my iphone, but less money. If I wasn't addicted to a stylus of the Note line of phones I might still have an iphone and I would have looked at ipads. This will help with my closeted wanna be writer ambition, research and most internet everything. It is fast for the things I do and boots up fast like a SSD should. Interactions are instant between Google apps.
If you are in this price range (on sale only; It was $150 less), aren't doing things that require a high end processor, don't mind the 4 lbs and think 14" then maybe? If you have more coin and demand more from a device then step up I suppose. I've had this less than a month so time might change my opinion. If I had more time to choose and think about it I would have spent more, gone lighter, leaner and more powerful$

I'm new to laptops and I know serious users laugh at Chromebooks. I absolutely love my Dell 2 in 1 Chromebook. I can't see ever using it as a tablet bc of the weight, but as a laptop it is more than enough for what I need. Plus I got it for $400 so I'm even more happy with it. I highly recommend the Dell 2 in 1 Chromebook to anyone in the market for a laptop, not so much a tablet.

I've only ever owned Windows laptops but wanted to try a Chromebook so I could have everything connected to my Gmail account. For my first Chromebook, I am very impressed and pleased with it. I've had it for almost a year and it hasn't given me any issues. It's easy to use, has great sound, display and battery life, has convenient accessibility features, and I love that I can charge it from either side of the laptop. I'm still debating if I'll commit to a Chromebook forever (I do miss Microsoft Word and I'm still learning keyboard shortcuts), but as a previous Windows user, I am very happy with my choice.

I love this laptop I’ve had it for almost 2 years and it’s got great graphics a nice premium feel to it and works like a charm lightning fast too. A plus is that google is always pushing out new updates to make it even better which I love. And I bought mine open box but overall I’m pleased with this product. Hope to have it last me 4+ years. Also I would always recommend buying these big price items on an Amex because they have purchase protection which will cover the cost of any damaged product when manufacturers won’t. Purchased it Sep. 27, 2019.

14 inch display is just the right size with the screen clarity and brightness levels just fantastic.
Load and startup speed is faster than it takes to open up the laptop. It takes longer to input your password than to load up. The apps are blazing fast. WiFi Download speeds are off the chart as is the connection throughout my multilevel house.
The storage available before you add apps is a little over 100GB. That may seem like very little but given the wide availability of cloud storage using various services (Google Drive, MICROSOFT One Drive and so on) I never found I was missing anything from my full sized laptop.
Having never used the Chrome OS, I had a learning curve which was a bit steep but then quickly flattened out. Now I just love the OS, the slick touchscreen responsiveness, the 2 in 1 ability and the overall quality build.
The power supply adapter connects to the laptop via a USB 3.1C port and quickly recharged the battery from 10% to 100% in under an hour. I also was able to get a bit over 6 hours doing light web browsing, photo editing, word processing and a few games played.
A bio scanner would have completed the perfection of this Dell Chromebook. The price is a bit steep but the build quality is off the chart, the hinge is built for high daily usage, the back lit keyboard is a great feature, the tent mode is beautiful to have and use.
Less I forget, you get a stylus that is built into its own slot on the front of the underside of the keyboard, easy to get to, easy to use and what a great inclusion.

Top Notch Chromebook (and tablet!)

My current Chromebook is about 3 years old and the battery health has started to fade so I was really looking forward to an upgrade. This Dell Chromebook is exactly what I was looking for.
Pros:
- The keyboard is back-lit, allowing for dark room typing.
- The screen easily rotates around and turns it from a laptop to a tablet. Most apps I use on regular tablets are compatible and the touch screen was very responsive.
- 4GB of RAM and an i3 processor give you all the power you need. In tablet mode, games I've played on my tablet like Plants vs. Zombies run much better.
- The power cord has a convenient LED light so it is easy to find when you are looking to plug in for a charge.
- You have FULL access to the regular Google Play store and all the apps within. Most older Chromebooks limit the apps you can access.
- Excellent battery life.
- Fast boot up times, automatic updates, and no worry virus protection.
Cons:
- It's a little heavy for a Chromebook. But that is a decent sacrifice for the screen size, battery life, and power.
- It isn't easy to open. While the design is sleek, it takes a little bit of effort to pry the lid open. You basically need to force your fingers in between to create a gap that will allow you to lift up the screen when the lid is closed. This was a poor design choice.
I'm a big fan of Chromebooks and have switched from Windows laptops for several years now. This model is a great option for anyone looking to simplify their computing experience.

My family is a fan of Chromebooks because they turn on fast and they rarely have glitches. This Premium 2-in-1 Dell Inspiron Chromebook has quickly become a favorite device as it is small enough to take on-the-go and it can be turned into a tablet. The gray metal design makes this laptop appear nice, sleek, and it feels solid. The active pen that comes with this Chromebook is simple to use, and it has its storage compartment under keyboard which makes it easy to keep the pen in one place. Furthermore, the battery life lasts a long time, which is what makes this device suitable for travel. The size of the keypad is big enough to allow movement of the pointer, and it is not bothersome as the texture is smooth. I like that the keys don’t feel cramped which makes typing comfortable. The best feature is the Full HD touchscreen; it is bright and with fantastic resolution. The speakers are along the bottom edges of the laptop, hidden, but it still does sound great. The sound is clear, efficient and quality are great. The thing that makes this 2-in-1 Chromebook the function is the ability to switch between a keyboard laptop into a tablet quickly. This laptop functions without a cooling fan thanks to its fast 8th generation Intel core processor. It does not overheat even after using it for a prolonged time. It weighs a bit more compared to the other Chromebooks, but it is still acceptable for mobility. This Dell 2-in-1 design sets it apart from other laptops. It is a premium Chromebook that I enjoy using.

I expected a cheap plastic feel, but it actually has a very nice, quality feel to it. Although, it is quite a bit heavier than I expected. I suspect most of that weight is battery, because the battery life on this is amazing! You can easily expect to get a full work/school day out of a charge.
The charging brick is unobtrusive, and has a tail going to the wall, so you it doesn’t eat up more than one plug. The cord going to the USB C connector leaves the brick at an angle that allows you to easily wrap the cord around the brick, which is convenient for storage/decluttering. The USB side is also lit, which is rather unique, so you can easily tell if you have power.
For those artists and hand-written note takers out there, a stylus is included, and there’s even a storage slot for it built in to the base of the Chromebook.
Display is widescreen, so it would work well for watching movies. But, you’ll want some headphones or external speakers if you want good sound. Built in sound is not impressive at all.
Speaking of watching movies, although the Best Buy description states that it has an HDMI output, it should be noted that this output is via the USB-C ports - NOT your ‘typical’ HDMI port.
This unit is on the mid-upper range of the price spectrum, so I don’t think it would be good for younger users. However, if you have a responsible high schooler, or a kid heading off to college, this might be a solid choice.

This is my 3rd Chromebook in past year. Not because they are bad products, but because they tend get taken from me by my family members. I really love the Chrome OS based laptops. They aren't super powerful, but really productive. I spent a week with this one and I believe I've fallen back in love with a DELL product. I never thought I'd ever say that again. This 2-in-1 is beautiful, with it's Urban Gray finish. And the keys feel great. the FHD display is gorgeous , for a Chromebook in this price range. It also has a stylus tucked away beneath it, to the right of the track pad . The back lit keys look and feel very premium. Speaking of premium, It 's got a fully aluminum body. DELL is known for making sturdy products anyway. I swear I could go on for hours and hours gushing about this Chromebook, but I'm just gonna drop a link to my online review, for a more in dept look at how I really feel. Now, the only problem I could possibly see in this unit is, the fact that it's so well built that it ends up weighing nearly 5 lbs. Good thing I workout often. As the name states, it's a convertible Chromebook. Meaning it can be used in laptop form, tent form and tablet form. That's where the issue lies. I don't see many people using this one in tablet form very much, considering the weight. But other than that, I totally recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade from their school Notebook. Have you seen the price tag? Go get yourself one.

I love this Chromebook. I really do. After spending hours and hours watching videos and reading reviews, I found this Chromebook to be the best overall. So I bought 2 units on sale.
Unfortunately, both units I got to have a problem.
First unit: left and right keys are defective. When I hit the left button it types "qerwiuPO" and "13428709" when I hit the right.
I live in the Philippines and they said I can't claim warranty. I tried to request for a replacement keyboard, but so far Dell couldn't provide.
Second unit: keyboard is working fine. The problem is with the body. It came with a dent on the left side of the unit, scratches and smudges all over it. I bought an Open Box - Excellent yet the condition is really poor.
I still love the Dell Chromebook. I think the problem is with Best Buy's quality control and Dell support for this product.
I'm stuck with these lemons. Not sure what to do with them.

I am glad they are starting to release quality Chromebooks suitable for business needs. My company uses Gsuite for everything so it only made sense that I go to a Chromebook. I started looking around at the selection that had the new Gen 8 Intel processors. I bought the lenovo first but that thing was too huge, I couldn't even use it in first class on the plane it was so big. I took and back and got the dell... so far no complaints. First thing you will notice is the screen. The bezels are not tiny but not nearly as big as the pixelbook. I would like to see it edge to edge but they are good enough and it is covered edge to edge with glass which is a plus. Next thing you will notice is the keyboard... it is probably one of the best feeling keyboards I have used on a laptop. It is back-lit and they keys have a silicone type texture. The keys offer some snappiness but not like a mechanical by any means. It is a nice middle of the road typing experience which is what I like on my work machines. The keys have a nice spacing between them helping with accuracy. Overall very comfortable to type long emails and docs. It connects to my Dell USB-C dock that I got with my Dell XPS 9370 and everything worked right out of the box with no setup/config. I currently use dual monitors, keyboard, razer headphones, mouse, and keyboard, and cat-5. It even charged it very quickly. I like the ascetic frame around the mouse and the overall chassis is solid and feels quality. I am kind of on the fence using it as a tablet. It is pretty thick and kinda heavy in tablet mode but with that said, I do still use it as a tablet sometime. It is nice of them to include a stylus that hides in the bottom of the laptop. It isnt anything fancy, no special features, but it is accurate and usable for most writing & note taking. I mainly use it for markup and signing docs. Last piece, performance. I was expecting to see diminished performance with only 4gb of ram and only a gen 8 I3... not an issue. I was in a google hangout meeting with several tabs open and a game running (which I didnt know was still running) and it performed just fine. I would still like to see 8gb for piece of mind, and would of paid a little more for it, but so far it seems good thanks to the low need to run chrome os. All-in-all a great chromebook that can be used for both business use and media consumption but not in the ultrabook size category.
Pros:
-Sleek, quality build
-Keyboard
-Performance
-Screen
Cons:
-Borderline too big for tablet use
Neutral (could improve but not a deal breaker for me):
-Stylus could be more comfortable for extended use.
-Configuration (would like to see 8gb ram and maybe an i5)
-eMCC storage (SSD would bulk it up quite a bit)
-Speakers are ok for meetings but could be louder with more range for media

[[ Build and Exterior ]]
Probably one of the first things you'll notice about this Chromebook is that it is somewhat thick. It definitely does not fall into the ultra-book category, but the aluminum exterior makes this unit feel very sturdy and durable.
The Chromebook does seem oddly heavy, so I can't see myself using it in tablet mode (keyboard folded behind the screen) for long periods of time.
On the outside of the unit are 2 USB Type-C port on either side of the laptop, a USB 3.0 port and headset jack on the left side and a Micro SD card slot on the right side. On the bottom is a built-in holder for the included stylus. The keyboard is also backlit, which makes late night typing much easier.
[[ Display ]]
The 14-inch display is ample without making the Chromebook overly large. Colors are sharp and the IPS display looks great from different angles. However, the screen is shiny and will definitely show glare from any light behind you, which is something to keep in mind if you plan to use this Chromebook outdoors.
The display is a touchscreen, so you can use it for interacting with apps, or using the included stylus for drawing. The display also rotates all the way back, so you can hold the Chromebook in tablet mode or prop it up in "tent" mode for movie watching.
Video playback, such as Netflix, looks great and playback is smooth, making this machine perfect for loading up offline Netflix shows for a long plane ride.
[[ Performance ]]
The i3 processor definitely makes a difference in the general "snappiness" of the machine. Opening tabs and web pages is fast and responsive. The unit also includes 4GB of RAM which some might consider too low for a Windows 10-based machine, but seems to be just fine with Chrome OS. I had 10 websites open on different tabs with a YouTube video playing in the background and the machine was still performing great.
Thanks to the Google Play store, you can also install many Android games on the Chromebook. I tested out Asphalt 8 and the graphics looked incredible with very minimal stutter.
Using Geekbench 4 Android app running on this Chromebook, it scored a 4490 single-core score and 9208 multi-core score. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has a single-core score of 1960 and a multi-core score of 6472.
[[ Battery Life ]]
Dell states that this unit can run 10 hours on a single charge, and after 5 hours of web browsing, I still had about 60% of the battery remaining, so the 10 hour claim seems to be accurate.
I've found that I'm able to recharge the Dell Chromebook with many "Power Delivery" chargers, such as the 5-port Power Delivery Charger from Anker. Connected to this charger, the Chromebook charged at a rate of 15V 2A (about 30 watts).
Overall, this Dell Chromebook appears to be a strong performer with a strong exterior. It should definitely hold up as a daily driver while providing zippy performance.

I have been a Windows user for many years. I was a spreadsheet jockey and big Excel user. Thus I was very use to using the Microsoft Office products and Windows applications.
Unfortunately the last revisions of Windows (8 and 10) have not been to my liking. So I really wanted an alternative. My son and daughter-in-law run their business using Chromebooks so I decided to give one a try.
This unit is fantastic. It is fast and versatile. It opens large spreadsheets fast and runs them without any glitches. Over the last month I have converted most of my spreadsheets to Google Sheets. There are a few differences when using Google Sheets, but they are minor and just take a little effort to remember them.
I also like that this unit flips to become a tablet. I have had no problems using Android apps . I really like the screen size. When using apps like RBDigital to read magazines it is very clear. Saves me trips to the library.
Another plus with this computer is it comes with a stylus that stores in the unit. I have used it to write notes and to perform screen captures for use in presentation slides. It can also be used as a laser pointer when presenting to a group.
The unit connects easily to your TV or LCD projector with a USB-C to HDMI converter. I found one for less than $15 that works great.
This unit is also great for entertainment. You can watch movies and listen to your favorite streaming service. It is easy to download movies with the large memory and watch them when you are unable to connect to the internet (such as on airplanes or in cars not equipped with WiFi).
The battery lasts a long time too. Although I have not measured the exact number of hours, It is more than enough for a day of constant use. Most days I only use it a few hours so it can be several days between recharges.
I like the way Chrome OS automatically updates and that I no longer have to run antivirus software.
Overall, if you are in the market to get a new computer and are willing to spend a few days reading up on the Google shortcuts that will allow you to perform all the functions you were use to using on your Windows computer, then this is the computer for you. With the i3 processor it is able to handle complex work and should be good for many years to come.

I actually purchased a different Chromebook before this that I was pretty happy with, but then I started to notice thing after thing that bugged me about it. So I decided to return it and give another device a try.
I went to a different local Best Buy and saw this device on display, which I hadn't noticed at the other store. Wow. I was blown away by the build quality, which was incredibly impressive. This is probably the sturdiest Chromebook I have ever felt, and its all aluminum body makes it feel like a tank.
The keyboard is very nice, great travel on the keys, the display gets incredibly bright and has excellent colors, the touchpad has a nice smooth metal feel, and it includes a stylus, which is one feature I thought the other HP Chromebook I had previously purchased was capable of but wasn't.
It's a core i3 Intel, so there is a lot of punch to the operation of this thing. I never feel like it's sluggish, and while the 4GB memory does have its limitations if you start opening absurd amounts of stuff, like tons of Android apps and like 30+ tabs, most of the time you don't notice even the slightest dip in performance.
I couldn't be happier, and I can tell this is one computer that I will be using for many years to come, as long as it continues to get Chrome updates.
I highly recommend this for a professional looking AND functioning device at a very fair price.

I've had several Chromebooks, I tend to purchase ones in the <$500 range. I got a good deal on this one at $350. I'm extremely happy with the purchase, screen is great, video performance has been strong & steady, youtube, hulu & amazon streaming. Chromecasting to HD LED TV is perfect. All the google stuff: mail / calendar / drive etc of course is great. Pleasant surprise was that I was able to install MS Word & Excel ON THIS LAPTOP from the google app store for free!! I had already had an MS Office Subscription...I'll have to consider not renewing that if these MS apps prove good enough for me. I like the backlit keyboard, large touchpad. It is not the lightest chromebook you can get, but the weight does not bother me and I do use it on my actual lap. I would not hesitate to recommend this to my best friend, I would purchase another if I needed it. I have played around with the stylus & touchscreen...cool functionality at the price point...Im not sure if I have a need for it, but its responsive.
Battery life is great. I've tried folding the screen over backwards...cool feature but I don't like having the keyboard exposed...if I decide I am going to use it in tablet mode a lot, I think I make get some sort of case that covers the kb. Oh the speakers need some help, if you are going to listen to music or movies on it, I recommend a bluetooth speaker. I have paired it 2 seperate JBL devices, my BeatsX and an older Blocker Rocker Max with no issues. Webcam has been fine for video calls. When it is connected to my home network (5G) no other devices slow down, and download and upload speeds are on par with iPhones, iPad, and an HP Elite laptop on the same network. If you are in the market for a sub $500 Chromebook, I think you will be happy with this one.

Fantastic Chromebook / Amazing Value

Just bought this to replace a previous Dell Chromebook that served my family well for almost 5 years.
Feels very premium (metal / glass, hinges are solid, trackpad responsive, backlit keyboard is solid, screen is beautiful and responsive), amazing value at this price point. My other computer is a Macbook Pro and it feels in the same class. The i3 processor for Chrome is overkill but adds to its feeling of speediness.
I find myself enjoying Tablet/Yoga mode a lot -- in Tablet mode its like having a large iPad Pro, and in Yoga mode (folded as a 'V') I use it to watch videos. The transition is seamless. Also works well plugged into an external monitor.
Downsides are weight (it's heavy), only has 4GB of RAM (not an issue today as Chrome OS is very efficient, but can't imagine this will be sufficient in 5 years) and has thick bezels.
That said, I find myself using this even more than my older Dell and even my Macbook -- Chrome OS is very responsive and loads very fast. Also runs Android apps which makes it much more versatile than even the Macbook (Apple should borrow from Google's playbook and enable iOS apps to run).
Anyway I wouldn't hestitate to buy this machine if you are considering it.

Great laptop. ultra fast, long lasting battery and flawless touchscreen. However if your looking to use any programs such as office or steam or any other internet downloaded app, your laptop will prove inadequate as Chrome OS is fairly new and isn’t compatible with anything. They don’t make this very apparent. Very upset with best buy as I bought this product online and no where was i told i had a limited refund time of 15 days! Now i’m stuck with this $580 laptop that is only functional for watching netflix, internet browsing, and writing essays. I’ll be stuck with this laptop throughout college as i’ve passed the date of return without even knowing

Keylina,
Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear that your Chromebook is not what you hoped it would be. If you'd like to run Office programs on your computer you can always follow these steps: To use Office on your Chromebook, install the Office mobile apps through the Google Play Store. If your Chromebook uses the Chrome Web Store instead, you can install Office Online to create, edit, and collaborate on your Office files in your browser. So, I tried a Chromebook having never used one and wondering if it would be for me. My first purchase was an Acer with a really big screen. Immediately, I knew this was the way to go. To be fair, I gave it a whole year of use and it never let me down. My wife suggested I try a different model, so I purchased this one. It really is like night and day comparing it to the Acer. More memory and a higher grade Intel processor make all the difference. The touch screen and stylus make it very versatile. I'm pretty sure this one's going to be around for more than one year.

So i'm pretty impressed with this. Its a HUGE step up from the Acer i've had for a few years. While there is a lot to like about this, there are a few things I do not like. One HUGE thing is the misrepresentation on BestBuys part on the description. There is no HDMI on this. None. But it says there is.....who is listing these items? I bought this specifically for that reason to be honest since I travel quite a bit and like to hook Acer up to TV's as I went. Sort of got me mad. The plus side is I can buy a USB Type C cable that does the same thing my HDMI cable did....so no worries I guess. Also, there is a micro SD slot in this thing....which bestbuy (once again) decided to not describe. Its a great thing, but why leave that out? nonsense. the screen is nice...not GREAT. Its fine when surfing the web but watching videos on it is weird. Some movies/shows look fine but then you watch others and its washed out and not super clear at all.
Pros:
Premium feel.
Premium look.
Fast.
Keyboard.
Screen.
Touchscreen.
Hinges.
Dual functionality with the tablet.
Micro SD slot.
Charging time is FAAAAAST.
Cons:
NO HDMI
Screen (yes again)
Trackpad (VERY SENSITIVE in a bad way)
Battery life (not horrible, but about an hour less than my 5 year old Acer Chromebook was)
The bottom (laying this on your lap stinks, it slips and slides. the hinges poke and jab just a bit too)
Cannot handle medium sized 3d apps/games (Google Earth even hiccups on this)
Not horrible dislikes, right? The screen is in no way HORRIBLE. Its only a sub-500 dollar laptop so what do you expect really? i've seen sharper at this price, however. With bluetooth off and brightness at around 50%, i'm getting 10 hours battery life. that is perfectly fine really. I REALLY hate the trackpad on this thing. I can just run my finger over it ever-so-slightly and it just clicks when I do not want it to click. All of that makes it sound like I want to rate this thing poorly but I find them to be very minor "hates". Go buy this thing, I think it was my best purchase in a while. Bestbuy just stinks up the joint with the product description. I should have gone online to more reputable sources to get all the details.
