The DJI Avata 2 has truly blown me away. Right out of the box, you can tell it’s built with quality and precision. The lightweight yet sturdy frame gives you confidence, and the 4K camera captures stunningly sharp and vibrant images. Even in windy conditions, the improved stabilization keeps the videos looking smooth and professional.
One of the coolest features is the intuitive motion control. This makes flying the drone so easy and natural. You just move the controller in the direction you want to go, and the Avata 2 follows. It’s like the drone reads your mind, making complex maneuvers feel effortless. This really shortens the learning curve, so even if you’re new to drones, you’ll be flying like a pro in no time.
The remote control feels great in your hands, and the DJI Fly app is super easy to use. You get access to all the advanced features without any hassle. The flight performance is impressive with long battery life and responsive controls, allowing you to explore and capture footage from unique angles.
I also appreciate the obstacle avoidance system. It adds an extra layer of safety, so you can fly confidently even in tricky environments. The FPV (First Person View) experience is immersive, making you feel like you’re actually in the pilot’s seat.
Overall, the DJI Avata 2 is a game-changer. Its intuitive motion control really sets it apart, making it worth every penny. Whether you’re into aerial photography or just want a fantastic flying experience, I can’t recommend it enough. This drone is perfect for both beginners and experienced users.

Flying beyond limits

Flying the DJI Avata 2 felt like stepping into another world. From the moment I put on the goggles, I was in the air—not just piloting, but truly immersed in every twist and turn.
This drone is a dream for tight, creative shots. I’ve flown it through canyons, skimmed over picnic spots, and even tracked wild horses—all while capturing buttery-smooth 4K footage. Its compact, crash-resistant design gave me the confidence to push limits without worrying about damage.
The controls are intuitive, even for tricky angles, and the battery lasted longer than I expected, keeping me in the moment. But what really blew me away was how easy it was to dive straight into FPV flying, even as someone used to traditional drones.
The Avata 2 isn’t just a drone—it’s an experience. If you love adventure, capturing epic landscapes, or just want to feel what it’s like to soar, this is the one.

The DJI Avata 2 has set a new standard for FPV drones. From the moment you slip on the goggles, you're transported into an immersive world where you truly feel like you're flying. The visuals are so sharp and responsive that you often forget you're still on the ground—until you catch a glimpse of yourself through the goggles.
**While the battery life is 23 minutes,** which might seem short, **purchasing the Fly More Combo gives you additional batteries, ensuring you have more than enough flight time** for extended adventures. Whether you're skimming over lakes, navigating through dense forests, or diving down cliffs, this drone keeps pace with every move. Its compact, durable design is ready for any environment, and its intuitive controls make it accessible to both beginners and experienced pilots.
The DJI Avata 2 is more than just a drone; it's a gateway to thrilling new perspectives. It delivers a sensation of flight that few other drones can match, making every journey an adventure. If you're in the market for an FPV drone that offers top-tier performance and an unparalleled flying experience, the Avata 2 is a must-have.

Great upgrade from the original Avata

It's a great drone. Coming from the original Avata, it's a step up. Not only does the battery last longer even in manual mode, the AR see through googles are great. One knock against this combo is the Motion controller. I hate it. I wish it gave the option for the regular controller. The Avata itself is quieter than the original and the flight characteristics are better as well. Make sure to pick up a 100W USB-C brick. There are a lot options out there and you don't have to go with the DJI version. If you're into filmmaking don't forget the ND filters as well. Will this ever fly better than a 5" quad? Nope. Will it fly better than the Squirt? Yup. Though you can't plow into something and expect it to survive unscathed.
Added a few pictures. Avata 2 and accessories in a bag. Avata 2 with goggles and controller. Original Avata with associated goggles and controller. Avata and Avata 2 side by side with associated goggles and controllers. Battery comparison.

DJI has set a high bar for drones!

It has been a long time since I used a drone - since the original parrot drone! Well they have came a long way. This avata 2 drone (and the mini 4 pro I bought a couple weeks prior) are addictive to fly. I was nervous about the learning curve, so I got the mini 4 pro first based on suggestions from the community. My experience is that was not an issue. The Motion Controller and the Goggles are very intuitive. I was able to learn by following the prompts in about 20 minutes. Extra points because my daughter (pre-teen) was able to pick it up within 15 minutes having never flown any RC's before!
Overall, I'd say the battery is great (I got the 3 battery pack). The drone is pretty rigid and can handle bumping into things at a regular speed. However if you put it into sport mode all the avoidance stuff turns off, and you can plow into a tree at high speed. Even if you do, it will likely take the hit and fly again. **see the pic of the propeller guard dented but I can still fly it no issue**
If you want fool proof, consider getting the mini 4 pro instead as it has 360 degree sensors and really is careful. It even goes fast enough to feel like the avata with a headset on (hint: the mini 4 pro works with the new googles and motion controller). I just wish that it came as a package with the goggles and motion controller.
The camera/videography is more of an afterthought on the avata, as you need to see forward to fly, and if you point the camera down at stuff on the ground it makes it hard to fly. You probably should get the mini 4 pro if you want to do cinematic stuff, like tracking a group of people and following, or orbiting around a property, etc. But if you want sweeping views of fast moving flight, get the avata 2.
If I could do it all over again, I'd still buy the avata 2 for general fun, and I'm on the fence if I'd get the mini 4 pro. I'd skip the protection plan on the mini 4 pro, and I'd definitely get it for the avata 2.

FPV drone from Dji is so much fun ! Easy to use as well. Will eventually buy the controller to unlock manual mode and hope I don’t crash it. Ha! Video quality is exceptional and could do 120fps for that buttery slowmo with new update.

RtH Has minimal obstacle avoidance. Crashed on third flight. Returned to store, expecting a lengthy repair and they just swapped it out and I was flying six hours later. Don’t fly without a Geek Squad warranty.

Had to get the new Avata cause I’ve own many of the other drones and from the online reviews it seem to be worth it. I must say not even owning it for too long I’ve had one major wreck to a church tower and it smashed the prop guards, broke the props, and shifted the frame pretty bad. If I bent it back out would it still fly? Most likely but other than the battery not flying out like the original Avata this thing isn’t no where as tough as my first series drone. The easy acro cool and all but you can only do it in normal mode which is kind of fun to do for some people but it takes all the skilled feelings out of it. What got me in trouble was playing around with the slide trick which basically 360 drifts you in sport mode actually but when i noticed the flag pole coming close I try to turn away and the drone drifted itself into the tower and flip a bunch of times on top of the building. Stayed on the entire time but decided not to save the crash video. The original Avata I have lve smacked off so much and came out of the sky from doing manual pretty hard and it’s been a tank. Pretty disappointed. If you have flown the original fpv drones before then the MC controller is going to feel a little weird at first and I don’t just mean the size. The fact you have to barely pull the trigger to look around now may also fight you at first on relearning the set up. Not a big fan of the new headset because the mask feels like I laid wet meat flaps on my face if you’re sweating which it does have a anti fog fan option to turn on. I hate the forehead design and it makes wearing my intrega’s feel really weird now. I hate that I have to hook my phone back up to the set head again to fly… I thought we did away with that none sense. At least allow me to hook up another controller that uses the dji app and doesn’t require a cellphone. I do like how the hud display is now viewable to the people around me watching the screen. I also think it’s dumb you can use the Air3 or mini four on the new headset but my mavic 3 isn’t allowed. Also dumb I have to buy a rc controller 3 which is literally the same controller but without the antennas that fold up in order to fly the avata 2. No upgrades no other options just more ways to make us spend more money. I don’t own a pair of the goggles 2 but I hoped to have been able to use the headset for more things like watch movies or something cool like I’ve heard with those headsets. I will admit the fly time with this Avata 2 is majorly better compared to what I get out of my fpv potatoes or Avata 1. Seems like I get twice the fly time but to be honest 30mph sucks for a fpv drone. Even with doing flip after flip it seems like I get an extra long fly time that makes 10mins seem way longer. If you’re new to flying then I recommend going easy with this drone but will you get bored easy if you been flying for a while now, yes
Oh yeah one last night I will say I do like. This drone is so much more quiet then the Avata 1. It went from scream cats to very pleasant buzz. Also the motors face up now and since I about chop the tips of my fingers of with my Avata 1 3.5 axis upgrade that makes it a major plus

Having owned an original Mavic, Mavic air, air 2, mini, mini 2 and a mini 3 I have to say the Avata 2 is easily the most fun. Although this is an FPV drone it still does the job of recording video and taking photos well enough that you can use it for that task. The range is fantastic, the maneuverability is amazing, battery life is good and the controller is intuitive within the first 5 minutes of using. DJI makes the best drones hands down and for me this is the best one yet.

Ordered my DJI Avata 2 the day it came out and was able to pick it up within 2 hours... That was Best Buy's high point in this order. Downhill after that!
The Avata 2 is a great update to the Avata Original (OG). From flight time to the new OC4 transmission system, they hit this one out of the park. And The Camera is the best also. Clarity and Color science is another win.
Best Buy's Failure was that the DJI FPV 3 Controller I was told would be available on 4/18 on my order was canceled on 4/16 without any notification. It was on a 12 months same as cash order so why not ask me it I could wait an additional 2 weeks because it was on backorder. Now I cannot get the same option because it does not meet the price guidelines. Shame, Shame, Shame Best Buy.
Guess I'll make my purchases like this elsewhere in the future.

Excellence replacement from the original Avatar, however, lacks the thrill of power from DJI FPV. This pretty much serves its purpose for a low-flying cina Whoop. Camera quality, Stability of low flight through gaps is a huge plus. It, however, is limited if flying over windy conditions. I, however, miss the DJI FPV and wish DJI would bring it back, With top speeds of 70MPH+. This one, however, is fun but more for beginners. Advanced FPV enthuse as myself feel we need more power.

My first FPV drone and it is incredible! The motion controller makes it very easy to fly. The propellers are protected and the drone body itself is very hardy. I recommend the Avata 2 to anyone who is ready to fly FPV for the first time.

Basically everything is better than the first version. GPS is built into the headset so you don't have to connect your phone to be remote ID compliant. Camera is better, and I no longer feel the need to connect a GoPro to get useable quality.

The Avata 2 is a great first FPV drone, whether flying for fun or commercially. It has a beginner mode for those that have never flown FPV before and sport mode for once you get more comfortable with lying. It’s small enough to fit in tight places if you’re flying through houses for real estate videos or in between obstacles if just playing around with it. I highly recommend it.

I truly love this product. The battery life and image quality is amazing! Paired with the DJI FPV RC3 in manual mode, the Avata 2 is surprisingly very capable of agile and quick maneuvers. It takes some adjusted settings, but it is a lot more capable than the previous edition in my opinion.

Great drone for getting an intro to fpv flying, feels very natural even for a beginner. huge upgrade in festures compared to the Avata 1. Only downside is the motion controller is now smaller and doesnt fit well with someone with bigger hands. Fly More Combo is great with thoughtful layout of the battery charger and bag.
