Great quality and seemingly endless ink!

Unboxing and installation of the ET-5880 was pretty straight forward. It is a little tricky getting out of the box due to its weight, definitely a two-person job as indicated in the printed setup instructions. There is a TON of blue packing tape on the printer (for good reason) which took a thorough inspection to make sure I had removed all of it prior to proceeding to the initial setup. The unit is fairly large in size compared to standard home printers, so make sure you have a solid and large enough surface/table to set the printer on. Overall it is very sturdy and well built. Even though it is made of plastic, it does not feel flimsy or like something that would easily break. It really does feel like a good quality office product. Following the included instructions provided for an easy setup. There are two bottles of each color ink included (and it takes nearly all of it) and the process of filling and priming the printer is simple. The keyed color bottles prevent accidental mix-up of colors while filling and the priming process is automatic. I installed the printer via wired ethernet but the process seems easy whether wired or wi-fi. The eco-tanks are really nice as the ink supply seems almost unending and there is no print head alignment required like most other printers. I have owned other Epson EcoTank printers in the past and rarely need to buy replacement ink. The print quality of the ET-5880 is excellent. It prints out a full color document quickly and surprisingly quiet compared to other printers. The text and graphics are sharp and clear. With regard to printing photographs, I am actually pleasantly surprised. Having used various non-photo printers in the past, the ET-5880 printed a good quality full-page photo on plain paper and great quality photo on premium photo paper. The quality still does not equal a true photo-printer with special photo-specific ink colors, but for a three color printer, I am impressed. The 3 paper sources of the printer (2 trays and 1 rear feed) work well. The trays hold a decent supply of paper, including legal, and the rear feed is nice for quick use specialty paper (photo, card, envelope, etc..). Unlike past models, it is easy to change the paper size mid-print if the source setting was incorrect. This printer also features auto 2-sided printing, which is nice. Overall, the ET-5880 printer seems well built with great print quality. The EcoTanks will allow for extended printing without the need of replacement ink, and the paper trays are easy to change/configure. One CON of previous EcoTank printers I have owned are that the print head tends to clog if not used for an extended period and consumes large amount of ink to clean. Make sure to print using all colors semi-regularly to prevent this. Time will tell if this printer has similar issues. Great printer

With unboxing this printer, it’s defInitely a good idea to have 2 people available to pull it out of the box. Tape protecting all the important parts. Some of the tape was tricky to find but nothing stuck to the actual printer that required scraping. Instructions included pictures which made set up easy. More time consuming than a regular cartridge printer (filling ink tank and the priming took maybe 15 mins in itself.) Installed easily on windows 10. My laptop didn’t like the CD (stopped at 63%) but luckily can download the software online, as well. Mobile printing setup for an iPhone was a snap (using Epson iPrint). The firmware update seemed to take longer than the actual setup. Fast printing and the printing was spot on straight after install. Love all the different options. 2 sided printing and copying was easy. Colors are vibrant. Overall, easy to set up, great printing out of the box and another quality product from Epson. “This is a review for the Epson EcoTank ET-5880 All-in-one Supertank Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

Easy Printing, Scanning, Copying Right Out the Box

This printer has come in handy with the recent mandatory quarantine due to Coronavirus. We were in need of printer to use at home, since we were unable to bring the printers home from our small business. I was also in need of a printer since I am now having to teach my children at home. Right out of the box, it was easy to set it up. It is a pretty large printer, but looks really neat with the sleek touchscreen in a corner of our room. Loading up the ink has been my favorite part of it all. It was a bit scary at first because I thought I would make a mess, but it just locks into the ink tray and unloads until it is full. There was no leaking at all and the ink was all loaded within a few minutes. The ink charging was the most time consuming, but I took that time to download the software to the laptops. In less than 20 minutes, I had the printer and 4 laptops set up to Wi-Fi and able to print. I do alot of bookkeeping and need a reliable, fast responding printer and this has been great after using for the past week. The dual paper tray is also very useful when I have to print my spreadsheets along with other paperwork and need to use 2 different sizes of paper. It prints very quickly and is able to handle printing tasks from multiple computers at once, especially since both of my kids are printing school work and assignments throughout the day. I am so happy with the ability to finally be able to have double sided printing without manually having to turn the paper over and replace like my last printer. This printer has so many more features as well, and copying has been a breeze. Fast and easy to set up. The software guided me through the app install and the setup. It’s about as easy as you can get. I’ve read reviews that you need two people to unbox it- not true. You just need to follow the easy set up instructions. Filling the ink was likewise foolproof and not a drop was spilled. The printing quality is excellent and the speeed is very fast.

It’s a workhorse. I use it for my Law Firm and print probably a case and a half of paper per month. It’s almost as fast as a laser printer, but not quite. It networks well with all of my employees computers over Wi-Fi. I have to return it twice due to issues with printing, though. The first time was at almost the 2 year mark. It was having feeder options for both drawers and the black ink would not work correctly. I did the power flush several times and did all maintenance identified in the user manual and I have only used epson ink (except for the brief period that none was available in 2022). The second time I had to return it because the blue would not work (4 months later). Once again, I flushed several times tried all of the maintenance options to No avail. Overall, I really like this printer and believe it has saved my Law Firm quite a bit of money. I do wish it had one drawer with 500 sheet capacity rather than 2 with 250 sheet capacity. Make sure and use Quality paper, As the cheap stuff sometimes feeds multiple sheets at a time and messes up the print. I use 22 pound paper and have not had any issues since. Although I am returning this printer, I am getting an identical one because it is the best of the tank style printers. I also have the canon equivalent and it is much slower. Print quality on full color pictures is better with the canon though. Either way, always have extra ink and maintenance boxes. Hope this helps!

Awesome Upgrade from the 3850 Eco Tank

I had the 3850 so this was an upgrade from the same type of printer. You can’t beat the EcoTank. But you do need to use it consistently to keep the ink from drying out. My 3850 had to be cleaned if I didn’t use the color for months at a time. So I plan to make sure I don’t have to test that with this one! This printer is a beast. Make sure you have the space for it! I wish it came in black. I love the fact that the tray extends on its own because I usually keep my tray closed when I’m not in my office. If I’m printing from another area, I used to walk into my office to papers all over the floor. I love the crisp sharp words. This is definitely an upgrade. It’s also very easy to change up the paper size and print on smaller card stock or larger paper. Color is crisp and sharp as well. It’s very easy to use and program. I haven’t used all of the features yet but this is a definite keeper!

There are two sets of bottle because the priming of the original set drains the tanks a lot to get the ink in the lines. The print is fast enough and looks very true to color. It is a shared printer and they have really like it so far. The setup was not as plug and play as it could have been. The firmware failed from the computer setup process but worked on the printer directly the first time. Overall, now that it is setup, we are really liking it.

30 days in service, works very well, good quality copies & draft printing. Easy to set up- I was leary after reading some of the reviews about set up & wifi issues but haven't had any problems with any of our devices- older & newer generations of phone/computers/ tablets/laptops. This does auto 2 sided scanning (hard to find true duplex capabilities in an all in one) & printing. Very pleased so far.

Powerhouse printer, great value for high-volume!

This Epson printer appears bulky from pictures, but is quite compact for the features and speed that you get. Setup is very easy, straightforward instructions included, and the most complicated part is filling the ink reservoirs. I was fearful that the ink-filling process would be messy, but it wasn't! Not a drop spilled. The value from this cartridge-free system is far superior to the typical cartridge printers. The biggest surprise for me was the speed. This printer churns pages at an unbelievable rate, and with high accuracy as well. The touchscreen control panel is very responsive, and allows easy access to all available functions. Another plus is that the Epson Wi-Fi setup is very easy, and allows me to connect any device in my house for easy communication. Even if the price seems high, the high-efficiency ink refill system will pay for itself in short order! Nicest printer I’ve ever owned

This printer is good for small/med size business or a home business that needs all the functions. It’s nice having 2 paper trays on the front of the printer that can be set for individual sizes like 8x10 photo,4x6 photo, envelopes, standard and legal paper. For special projects there is a paper slot on back to fit those custom forms. The ecotank on this model is huge and almost holds two full bottles of ink unlike the wasteful small cartridges. The printer uses pigmented ink so the pictures and projects look amazing as good going to a photo processor. The printer is faster than my office printer and has auto maintenance cycles to prevent the ink from drying in the jets. The paper finish tray can be pushed in after the job is complete and when you print the next time it will auto extend it for you. What an awesome feature. This printer is excellent when working. The software to install the printer is abysmal. I never could establish a stable Wi-Fi connection. I finally resorted to a hard wire CAT-6 connection to make all work. The software to setup the printer is horrible. Just go by the printer windows and ignore the Epson software other than drivers. The installation process is a hot mess and took me days to resolve. (I used to build my own computers and all worked flawlessly- this installation was a disaster). All my other Wi-Fi connected devices such as my thermostat, alarm system, watering system, connected immediately and have remained rock solid. This printer cannot maintain a WiFi connection. It is terrible. It is only a few feet away from my massively powerful state-of-the art WiFi router (it easily covers over 5000 sq ft, of housing area). I would only recommend this for a wired CAT6 connection. WiFi really is a mess. No stability in a signal and you will need to reinstate the WiFi after a few hours. The included and download software is terrible. Set up the printer from the printer interface. The software setup never recognized my printer, yet my computer (MacBook Pro) did. The print quality is really good. But for a $900.00 printer, the setup should be easy. All of my stupid cheap ancillary devices have never skipped a beat with WiFi. Do NOT expect to experience a WiFi experience with this device!

Have been using it for almost 10 months. I bought it to replace my Epson 4850 - similar device, but not up to par. The 5850 works like the 4850 should have done. Seamless and continual network connectivity and device output for copying/scanning/printing from my Mac computer and Apple mobile devices as compared to the constant connectivity errors from the 4850 model. Yes, it's more expensive, but it hasn't hiccuped once since it was installed. Great choice back then and now.

While it's huge, it's getting the job done better than anyone else. It's the fastest printer of this ink type on the market and has many quality-of-life features, such as periodic cleaning, which ensures the print head remains clear. I recommend it to those who print lots of documents per week.

    Epson ET-5880

First off let me say the Epson ET-5880 is a five star printer with a 1 or 2 star Epson support. This makes the 6th Epson printer I have purchased. I have also owned HP, Canon and brother printers. This is by far the best printer I have ever owned. It prints laser quality, laser speed without the high cost of replacement laser toner. Their are so many options at the control panel it will probably take make a year to learn them all. I connected my printer to my network via a ethernet cable and I can print from my 3 iphones, 2 ipads, 2 desktop printers, 2 laptops (Windows 10 and Apple), and Amazon fire tablet and whatever else I want. This machine is designed to print to any computer in any work environment as it has PCL support. My biggest complaint about this printer is the ink maintenance box. I read two reviews about this before I made my purchase and I said these customers must have done something wrong. Epson should suggest to their customers that purchase their printers to also purchase an extra ink maintenance box. When I first added 4 bottles of ink to the printer I charged the ink pipes which takes about 9 minutes. This whole time the printer is dumping ink into the ink maintenance box. After the printer is charged with ink, the ink maintenance is already 5/8 full. When the ink maintenance box is full it will not print. It will scan or fax but no printing. The worst part about this is that Epson does not have the ink maintenance box available for purchase. One of the reviews I read said they waited 6 months and still no ink maintenance box and thus they trashed the printer. Luckily I purchased my printer from Best Buy with a 4 year replacement warranty. If I can't get a replacement ink box when I need one it is going back to Best Buy. I ordered a aftermarket ink maintenance box from E-bay but who knows if it will work because it has a chip in the box just like the ink cartridges. It may or may not work. I tried to call Epson about the ink maintenance box but the best they told me was that they would send me an email when stock becomes available. This is unacceptable. You sell me a $900.00 printer that will maybe print about 400 to 500 pages before it quits. Also, don't turn off your printer once it is charged. Every time you turn the printer off and on it dumps ink into the ink maintenance box.
